Cece told me she was a walrus.  I am not sure if I should be worried that she is putting things up her nose or impressed by her creativity.

LPM Recital

Lynlee did a great job at her LPM recital today.  She is all done with her 2nd year.

Draco Malfoy

Sarah wanted a Draco Malfoy figure, so I used the pattern for Ron and adapted the colors.  His hair stood out a little more in person, even though it looks like it's the same color as his skin in the picture.

I Am Moana!

We like to wait outside for Cece's bus.  Lynlee was pretending to be Moana and kept on singing in her loudest voice, "I AM MOANA!!!!"

Luna Lovegood

Amber's second crochet pick was Luna Lovegood.  I love how she turned out! I found a pattern on etsy for Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and I just adapted the colors to make it Luna.

Household Repair

Do you ever do this?  Put off a simple task and deal with the annoyance, thinking it's not that big of a deal (and it's not), but once it's fixed you realize how easy it was to deal with the annoyance?  For example, the bottom rack of our dishwasher has 8 of these rolling wheels.  One fell off and got melted on the heat coils and had to be thrown away.  Another one had the clip break and I had to kind of wiggle it on the rack every time I rolled it in and out.  And then another wheel got melted, and another one broke.  I had to lift up the rack and set it in and out (no more wheeling!).  Really, not a big deal, just an annoyance. Until David was here to pick up his kids and saw me doing dishes and doing the lifting thing, and he said, "you can buy new wheels, you know."  He even went and picked them up for us (nicest brother-in-law ever!).  Once it was all fixed, I kind of laughed at how hard doing dishes had been, compared to when the equipment worked correctly.   There must be a good analogy in there some where...

Dance Class

Lynlee has loved this taking dance class this spring, and I credit her teacher.  Miss Shanda has been amazing, making class fun and teaching the girls some great moves.

Our Primary has a jar with all of the childrens' names written on popsicle sticks.  When they need a helper, they pick a stick and call on the child.  Every time Lynlee's name is chosen, she politely refuses to help.  Until today.  She went up front and held a picture for the entire song.  Great job, Lynlee!

Elephant Lovey

The other half of my present for baby Lucy was this darling Elephant Lovey.  Big sister Olivia told me that the nursery was going to be pink and gray, and that they liked elephants, so I went on a Pinterest hunt to find a good pattern.  I combined two patterns and I love how it turned out.  I used a baby yarn and it is so soft and touchable.

The head is from this free pattern: and the chevron blanket is from this free pattern (with some extra rows so that it was a little longer):

Ellie's New Violin

Grandma helped us time Ellie's new violin, purchasing it now so that she will be used to the bigger size at the recital in a month and violin camp in two months.

Baby Addison

Lauren is so nice to share pictures with me.  Lynlee snuck upstairs during violin lessons and got to feed Addison a bottle.

Ellie's Last LPM Class

It's the end of an era, with Ellie attending her very last Let's Play Music class.  I am super sad, and have loved sharing this musical journey with her.  Ellie said she is not sad, but she will miss seeing Miss Sheryl every week.

Baby Booties

I made these darling baby booties for our friends, the Perkins, who are about to have a miracle baby.  It may have been my favorite project ever!   They are so soft and sweet, and they worked up so quickly.  I don't know if they were useful as a shoe or not (I never had much luck with baby shoes doing more than looking pretty in a picture).  But they are totally worth it, even if it is just for a photo op.

Sock Monkey 2.0

After making the giant sock monkey, I halfheartedly worked on the 2nd monkey with lighter weight yarn.  It eventually got to the point where the baby I was making it for was about to turn 1, and I knew it was now or never to get it done.  This version turned out super cute, but not as much smaller as I expected.  I used a 2.5 hook and Caron Simply Soft yarn. The baby's nursery colors are navy blue and mustard yellow, but there was no good yellow in the Caron line at JoAnn's.  I substituted the orange instead.  I also sewed more carefully, so the mouth has a cleaner line.

Easter Dinner

Easter dinner at Grandma's was delicious and fun!  Grandma had the little girls do a craft and it was a hit.

Easter Egg Hunt

One of the best things that happens at Todd & Rachel's Easter Egg Hunt, is the lesson Rachel teaches the children.  She showed them the video "He is Risen" this year as part of her lesson.

Wind Storm

We had the craziest wind storm last night.  Lots of neighbors lost fences, and windows & windshields were blowing out in cars.  The Jensens gate blew off its hinges and smashed their truck window; the Monsons basketball hoop blew down and shattered their windshield.  We felt extremely lucky and blessed that the only damage at our house was our mailbox blowing off and landing in the front yard.  It still had the mail from the previous day inside.

The girls love to play with friends, and especially love to play outside in gorgeous weather (despite the ominous clouds gathering, it was a nice afternoon).

Field Trip

It is so much fun to be a field trip chaperone!

IL and Pillows

Imagine Learning is much more fun to do if you are sitting on a pillow tower. And holding your Elsa/Anna doll.

Monday, April 10, 2017

Our pancake recipe makes tons, so we freeze the extras.  It is easy to toast them up for breakfast on school mornings, and is Cece's favorite thing to eat in the morning right now.

Sunday Silliness

These giant Minnie and Mickey dolls were an impulse buy by Greg one year at Christmas.  We had taken the girls on the train downtown, and he managed to buy them at the Disney Store and lug them all the way home -- unnoticed.  Ellie has been making this face lately in lots of pictures.  Super funny!

Lea Clark Doll

Sometimes you work really hard at practicing violin and you earn a new mini-American Girl doll named Lea Clark.  And sometimes you are so excited about your new doll that you bring her everywhere, including violin lessons.  And sometimes you are so excited to play with your baby cousin that you put your doll down on the couch and forget about it.

And sometimes your daddy is so nice that he drives you all the way back to grandma's house the next day to pick up your doll.

2 Syllable Word

In speech therapy, Cece first worked on vowels.  Then the Ling sounds (ah, ee, oooh, mmm, ssss, sh).  Then combining vowels with opening consonants (bah, mah, lah, whee).  We were driving along in the truck, and Cece started saying, very clearly, DA-DE -- two consonants in a row! She has never repeated it, going back to saying DA-EE, but it was definitely a breakthrough moment.

Thursday of Spring Break found us at the aquarium with Grandma, Lauren, and Addison.  The penguins were a hit with Addie.

Today found us at Farm Country, where the wagon ride is always a highlight.

Natural Curiosity Museum

We spent some time at the Museum of Natural Curiosity today, along with every other family on Spring Break in Utah County.  It was fun, and crazy busy.

Moana Fan Art

Lynlee and Ellie had fun creating these pictures of Moana.  And seriously, these white boards get used pretty much every day.  I'm so glad one of the girls found them hidden behind the piano and brought them upstairs.

General Conference

When Greg first told me that the Stake Presidency was going to take turns attending General Conference sessions at the church, I will admit that I dreaded taking the girls to the church.  But I have come to enjoy getting everyone dressed up and sitting in the darkened chapel.

For Travis' second crocheted item, he requested Chewbacca.  This is the 3rd one I've made, and it worked up very quickly.  When I first started these amigurumi kits, I thought it took a long time to finish (and it did, then).  Now these little figures are super quick and easy, especially in comparison to some of the harder things I've worked on.  This is the first time I've used an "animal nose safety eye" and I really like how it looks.
