Easter Dinner

Easter dinner at Grandma's was delicious and fun!  Grandma had the little girls do a craft and it was a hit.

Easter Egg Hunt

One of the best things that happens at Todd & Rachel's Easter Egg Hunt, is the lesson Rachel teaches the children.  She showed them the video "He is Risen" this year as part of her lesson.

Wind Storm

We had the craziest wind storm last night.  Lots of neighbors lost fences, and windows & windshields were blowing out in cars.  The Jensens gate blew off its hinges and smashed their truck window; the Monsons basketball hoop blew down and shattered their windshield.  We felt extremely lucky and blessed that the only damage at our house was our mailbox blowing off and landing in the front yard.  It still had the mail from the previous day inside.

The girls love to play with friends, and especially love to play outside in gorgeous weather (despite the ominous clouds gathering, it was a nice afternoon).

Field Trip

It is so much fun to be a field trip chaperone!

IL and Pillows

Imagine Learning is much more fun to do if you are sitting on a pillow tower. And holding your Elsa/Anna doll.

Monday, April 10, 2017

Our pancake recipe makes tons, so we freeze the extras.  It is easy to toast them up for breakfast on school mornings, and is Cece's favorite thing to eat in the morning right now.

Sunday Silliness

These giant Minnie and Mickey dolls were an impulse buy by Greg one year at Christmas.  We had taken the girls on the train downtown, and he managed to buy them at the Disney Store and lug them all the way home -- unnoticed.  Ellie has been making this face lately in lots of pictures.  Super funny!

Lea Clark Doll

Sometimes you work really hard at practicing violin and you earn a new mini-American Girl doll named Lea Clark.  And sometimes you are so excited about your new doll that you bring her everywhere, including violin lessons.  And sometimes you are so excited to play with your baby cousin that you put your doll down on the couch and forget about it.

And sometimes your daddy is so nice that he drives you all the way back to grandma's house the next day to pick up your doll.

2 Syllable Word

In speech therapy, Cece first worked on vowels.  Then the Ling sounds (ah, ee, oooh, mmm, ssss, sh).  Then combining vowels with opening consonants (bah, mah, lah, whee).  We were driving along in the truck, and Cece started saying, very clearly, DA-DE -- two consonants in a row! She has never repeated it, going back to saying DA-EE, but it was definitely a breakthrough moment.

Thursday of Spring Break found us at the aquarium with Grandma, Lauren, and Addison.  The penguins were a hit with Addie.

Farm Country

Today found us at Farm Country, where the wagon ride is always a highlight.

Natural Curiosity Museum

We spent some time at the Museum of Natural Curiosity today, along with every other family on Spring Break in Utah County.  It was fun, and crazy busy.

Moana Fan Art

Lynlee and Ellie had fun creating these pictures of Moana.  And seriously, these white boards get used pretty much every day.  I'm so glad one of the girls found them hidden behind the piano and brought them upstairs.

General Conference

When Greg first told me that the Stake Presidency was going to take turns attending General Conference sessions at the church, I will admit that I dreaded taking the girls to the church.  But I have come to enjoy getting everyone dressed up and sitting in the darkened chapel.

For Travis' second crocheted item, he requested Chewbacca.  This is the 3rd one I've made, and it worked up very quickly.  When I first started these amigurumi kits, I thought it took a long time to finish (and it did, then).  Now these little figures are super quick and easy, especially in comparison to some of the harder things I've worked on.  This is the first time I've used an "animal nose safety eye" and I really like how it looks.

Owls for Amber

After I finished Amber's little owl, I scoured Pinterest and etsy for something else owl-y and cute.  I found this adorable owl basket and had to make it.

Thursday, March 30, 2017

I don't know why, but it always makes me laugh when Cece gets home on her bus ride fast asleep.  She is so cute!

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Cece brought home this paper of her name that she traced at school. She is really good at writing C's on her own, but the E's are a little trickier.

Lynlee's Doll

The long awaited day is finally here, and Lynlee's doll is complete!  She picked out her own yarn for her skin color because she wanted to match her beautiful Latina skin. She also choose the sparkly purple yarn (as long as we were at the store buying yarn anyway, I let her get a new color).  She originally wanted pink and purple stripes like her sisters, but then changed her mind and wanted a dress with a belt.

Monday, March 27, 2017

Cece has preschool on Tuesday - Friday.  On Monday we go in and meet with her teacher for an individualized therapy session, or an IEP meeting, or a Parent-Teacher Conference.  Today was a Parent-Teacher Conference, and Greg was able to join us.

Sunday, March 26, 2017

Lynlee has been doing great in Primary lately, and she really loves her teachers, the Yangs.  But Sister Yang is so amazing that she got snatched for Young Womens.  Which means Lynlee has new teachers again, which brings out her anxious feelings and nervousness.  The amazing thing is that she has Ellie's teachers from last year (Sister Stagg and Sister Chipman) who are so nice, and Lynlee already knows them because most of the time Lynlee went to class with Ellie last year.  But it is different when you go by yourself.  So Lynlee spent Primary with Cece and I again this week.  Cece was really cute and comforted her most of the time.

A fun afternoon at the aquarium was just what we needed while Daddy was at a basketball game.

Before School

These every day  moments are the ones I want to remember.  Eating cinnamon toast and hard boiled eggs before school.  Checking backpacks.  Seeming like there is lots of time, and then a mad 2 minute dash to get shoes and backpacks on, prayers said, and everyone loaded in the bus or car.

The Heart of Te Fiti

Lynlee loves the movie Moana, and she created the spiral from the heart of Te Fiti on her forehead.  Using blue eye shadow.

Sister Snuggles

These 2 usually wake up at least an hour earlier than Ellie.  They like to eat breakfast together and most mornings snuggle up on the couch.

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Cece had fallen asleep driving to gymnastics, so Lynnie and I waited in the van with her while Ellie ran into class.  After Cece woke up, we played on the patch of grass there, until a random rainstorm came, where it rained for about 5 minutes.  The girls happily played inside the van for the rest of class.

Sunday, March 19, 2017

Cece is particular about her hair, and some days will flat out refuse having it done.  I can't blame her -- it is quite the process with lots of products and some pain in the combing.  This morning she asked Lynlee to do her hair, and it was a sweet moment.

Saturday, March 18, 2017

I love that all of the girls love to create art.  Especially Lynlee.  I also love that she is happy to make creations on the magnadoodle that can be erased (and I don't have to sneak it into the recycling can later).

India Skirt

Amy gave Lynlee 4 gorgeous skirts (green, red, blue, and gold) from India for Christmas. Here is the green one, worn for St Patrick's Day.

School Project

I peaked in Ellie's classroom and found them doing "fluency" practice, where they read the words and sing along to a song. This time it was "You're Welcome" from Moana.  And I found these treasures displayed in the hallway.

Lip Gloss

We got to go meet Lynlee's birth mom for dinner as she and her family came through town on their way to a wedding in Las Vegas.  It was epic!  Lynlee had packed her special purple lip gloss for the occasion.  Without anyone noticing, Cece found it and pretty much used up the whole tube on the way home.  Even after a bath, and crying-causing-scrubbing, her face was stained purple...

Roll With It

We have full afternoons after school, and I am the "mean mom" who only lets the girls play with friends on Friday and Saturday.  By the time they have a snack, do their homework & reading, and practice violin & piano, we are racing to a class or to get dinner going.  But sometimes we just roll with it.  Anna and Eli knocked on the door and wanted to play, right after school.  Their parents were travelling and they were needing a distraction, so we said "come on in" and the kids all played happily for a few hours.

And we never did practice that day...

Just Another Manic Monday

Cece doesn't go to school on Mondays, so in my head it should be our day to relax and recover from the weekend.  But, no.  It is a chance to jump in to a new week with both feet!  We meet with our deaf mentor in the morning, then we drive kindergarten carpool, then squeeze in any doctor's appointments (like a trip to see the audiologist on this day),  then go to Orem and have a therapy appointment with Cece's teacher (Lynlee hates this but comes with us anyway), and then get back just in time to pick up Ellie from school.  Then it is straight to Lynlee's dance class (where they had fun trying on potential costumes for the recital in May -- this one was Lynlee's favorite but it was ultimately not chosen) and then home for dinner and FHE.  Whew!

And, Cece loves to write on the dry erase boards.  She likes to practice writing her name.

Sister Sunday School

Ellie took her sisters in to the backyard and taught them a Sunday School lesson.  Complete with visual aids, some scriptures, and a snack.

Baby Signing Time Volume 5

The girls got to be filmed to be in a new episode of Baby Signing Time.  It was quite the experience!

Friday, March 10, 2017

Cece's Doll

While I was waiting for the yarn for the hair, I got about half of Cece's doll done.  It came together quickly after Ellie's doll was done.  Designing the cochlear implants was ... exciting.  I pulled it out about 5 times before I was happy with it.

Thursday, March 9, 2017

Art Project

Lynlee came home from school with a purple wire and the instructions to create a person.  She drew out how she wanted it to look, and then we worked together to make her person.

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

Cece's Bus

Cece's "bus" is really a van.  This Wednesday morning I put her on the bus and took the big girls to school.  Then I had some errands to run, including dropping things off at the D.I.  I pulled out of the parking lot to head south, and pulled right in behind Cece's bus!  I followed it on to the high way until it pulled off at the 1600 N exit.  (And you can't tell because the lights are blocked, but the light was red and it was safe to take this picture!)

Clark Planetarium

I got to go with Ellie's class on their field trip to the Clark Planetarium.  We've never been there before, and it was a fun place.  I was in charge on an energetic group, and it made me appreciate how obedient all of my daughters are.

Eliana's Doll

After finishing Ontrea, it was Ellie's turn for an amigurumi.  She decided she wanted a baby doll, and she picked out the colors for the dress.  Having learned my lesson with the sock monkey about having the recommended yarn for a pattern, I ordered this specialty yarn for the hair.  I actually got the doll done and had Cece's doll halfway done before the yarn arrived.  The fun thing about the hair is that the yarn is really crinkly, and I used the underside for the hair.  It had more loops and looked better.  Ellie wanted a mouth, so I did my best to free hand that (it wasn't in the pattern). And, we had to make glasses!

BST Prep

The girls are going to be filmed for a new Baby Signing Time video, and we couldn't be more excited!  It has been more difficult than expected to find outfits for the girls to wear.  Here are the guidelines:  absolutely no green, try to have no red, white, or black, new/like new condition, spring colors, at least 2 options.  It was a good excuse to go shopping for new clothes.  I wanted the outfits to coordinate but not match, in the hopes that the girls would be on screen together.  We found one set of clothes at Osh Kosh and another set at Gymboree.  That made the colors coordinate, and I was happy with how it turned out.  I laid them all out after church (we bought them yesterday) and Lynlee had to model her favorite outfit.

Uncle Kyle

Kyle and Jonette made a flying trip to Utah, and we got to see them for a little while.  Uncle Kyle brought the girls the nicest gift: his violin that he played when he was a little boy.  He had it restrung, and bought a new bow and case for it.  It is a 3/4 size, so when Ellie gets bigger (maybe around 4th or 5th grade), it will be perfect for her to play.

Friday, March 3, 2017

Greg sent me this picture that someone sent to him.  I don't have the original source to credit it, but I love how it captures the celebrating team, and serious-Greg-the-referee in the background.

Super Heroes

It is Super Hero day at school.  Lynlee is Super Dog and Ellie is Super Turtle.  Cece is telling you that Daddy is a super hero, too.

Wednesday, March 1, 2017

I am not entirely sure where this is, but Lynlee can always entertain herself by taking lots of selfies.

One of my favorite authors + the dreamy voice of John Thornton = Perfection

Sunday, February 26, 2017

Lynlee drew a really good Mia (from "Mia and Me"), but she didn't like something about it, so she crumpled it up and threw it away.  I rescued it out of the recycle bin for a picture.  Cece drew lots of Cs.
