Lynnie and Cece love to ride the wiggle cars at Grandma's house.

Granite Flats

My friend Kelly told me a while ago how much her family loved Granite Flats, because they could all watch it together.  When I saw it on Netflix, I had to try it with the girls.  We instantly loved it as well, and were so sad when we watched the last episode tonight.  Greg missed the first episode but watched most of it with us.  We especially loved singing the theme song, and would often rewind it to sing it again.

Annual Eye Exam

Lynnie was prepared for her annual eye exam, knowing that Dr Young would probably dilate her eyes and check her prescription.  Even being prepared, it's still hard to get your eyes sprayed.  She was brave and got through it.  The best part is getting to play with the toys while waiting.

Snooze City

The metadata on this picture says it was taken at 7:02 a.m.  I can't remember why I took it -- did they sleep all night on the couch?  was Ellie sick?  did she just wake up early so they snuggled and fell back asleep?  Hmmm, I guess the reason doesn't really matter.  They sure look sweet.

New Shoes

Cece wanted to wear her new cheetah shoes, and she really hammed it up showing them off.

Lu's Baby Glasses

The girls found Lu's baby glasses, and Cece quickly claimed them as her own.  She looked so cute with glasses on.  And she is the queen of taking selfies.

Ellie was excited to play in the Books 1-3 concert.

Hammy Downs

I had a student years ago who talked about getting "hammy downs" from her sister in a paper.  Ever since, any time I think of hand-me-downs, I can't help but chuckle.  It was at the forefront of my mind when I collected this awesome pile of hammy downs from my generous sister Amy!

Elder Gooch

Greg got to set apart our Bishop's son tonight.  Elder Gooch will be serving in Papa and Nana's mission.

Sock Monkey

I finally finished this sock monkey late last night.  It feels like I have been working on him forever.  He started out as a present for Cece's newest baby cousin, but I decided he was so big that he needed to stay with us.  He is as tall as Cece.  Ellie quickly claimed him and snuggles him every night in her bed.  I revisited the instructions on the blog to see where I went wrong, because it didn't seem like he should be so big.  I realized that I had not printed off the top portion of the instructions, but had in my head that I was supposed to use a 3.25 mm hook.  The instructions call for a 2.5 mm hook and baby weight yarn (I used worsted weight).  He turned out much bigger than he was supposed to.

Happy Father's Day... the best daddy around!

Saturday, June 18, 2016

Cece recognizes when it is picture taking time and has started making the cutest faces while posing.  Either that, or she scowls and points her finger, telling me to go away.

Backyard Swim Party

Ellie and Lynnie each invited a few friends and we had a backyard swim party.  It was fun!

Cece has always loved broccoli.  And lately she is loving the yellow carrots that are in the Normandy frozen mix from Costco.
no, this isn't a video -- just a screen shot

Grandma's Swing Set

The girls love to play on Grandma's swing set after violin lessons.

Writing A Song

Lynnie took about half an hour and wrote this song.  Then she sang it for me, with lyrics and everything.  It was very impressive.  And Cece wanted to get in on the picture-taking action.

Albert works just a few minutes away from Lynnie's gymnastics gym, so he surprised her by coming and watching her class.  Lynnie was hilarious and really performed.  I jokingly told Albert he should come every week so that we really get our money's worth out of the classes.

Greg's Salsa

Greg has perfected a pico de gallo salsa.  It is so simple and so delicious.  The key is to chop all of the vegetables fairly small.  No big chunks.

Start with half of an onion, and squeeze 1-2 limes over it.  Stir and let it start to "cook" in the acid.

Add 1/2 of a green pepper and some jalapeno pepper (if desired).  Salt.   And then salt some more (it may take more than you think).

Add 1 bunch of cilantro, chopped.  (You don't have to de-stem the cilantro.  Just pull off the top parts and chop it all up.  Some stems in there are fine.)

Add 10-14 roma tomatoes.  (Romas are the best because they have the least amount of seeds.)

Stir it all up and give it a taste.  You probably need to add some more salt.  Maybe some pepper.

It tastes amazing right away and even better after a couple of hours.

Rachel From Signing Time

We went to Family Camp today with Cece's early intervention program, and we got to meet Rachel from Signing Time.  It was pretty exciting!  When Cece spotted her, she signed FRIEND and SIGNING TIME.

Prayer Time

Cece definitely has the motions of prayer down:  eyes squeezed tightly closed, head bowed, arms folded, kneeling (when we kneel).  She will even hold up her finger in the shushing motion.

Girls' Camp

Greg and I got to spend a few hours at Girls' Camp, where we played the Candy Bar Game with our ward (of course!) and had dinner with them.  Then we went to the fireside that night.  I was trying to get a picture of the YCLs which included Hailey, Shaylee, and Brinn, and managed to get a picture of Sister Powell instead.  Sister Powell was the Stake Camp Director this year and is the mom of one of my favorite people.  Sis Powell still halfway thinks our names are Craig and Helen!

New Library Card

I have had this library card since we moved to Lehi in 1999.  The library updated their number system a few years back but let all of us older card holders keep our old numbers. For a few years on the ebook check-out site I had to have an extender code in front of my number to make it the correct length (u2p84043, in fact).  But the time had come where the old cards are no longer valid and I had to get a shiny new card with a brand new number.  It feels weird to not have my library card memorized any more.  What will I do when I have to put it in the website to check out an ebook or put something on hold?  I will have to *gasp* look up the number!  Do you think I can handle it?

What do I do when my baby signs NOODLES EAT PLEASE at 6:30 in the morning?  Why, I make her mac & cheese for breakfast, of course!

Matching shoes are so over rated.

We were running late to get to Cece's AVT (Auditory Verbal Therapy) appointment this morning and just did a mad dash to get in the car to go.  I didn't even notice my footwear until halfway through the appointment.

Good Sport

I was excited to host the missionaries for dinner, until I thought it through and realized I could not guarantee Greg's presence.  Luckily my family was willing to change date and location and have the monthly dinner at my house so that there would be males present and the missionaries could actually be in the house with me and the girls.  We had a nice dinner (and Greg was there for most of it).  Uncle Brian sure is a good sport and let the girls do whatever they want to him.

Kylene loves giraffes, so I whipped out a cute amigurumi giraffe in her wedding colors.  I forgot to start it until Wednesday night, but managed to get it done just in the nick of time.
