Craft Time

We hit Hobby Lobby to pick out a craft project for each of the girls, to kick off summer.  Ellie picked this pretty complicated kit, but she was excited about it and completed her puppy in a couple of hours.

Mandarin Oranges

Cece's new favorite food is canned mandarin oranges.  She used to practically live on Cuties, but she won't eat them fresh anymore.

New Grill

Our old BBQ grill has seen lots of use and it was not working well.  It took forever to heat up and would not maintain temperature very well.  The grates are falling apart and it was kind of a mess.  So it was time for a new grill.  It was one of those things where you don't realize how bad the old one was until you get a new one that actually works properly.

P.S.  This is Greg's I-can't-believe-you-are-actually-taking-a-picture-and-I'm-having-flashbacks-to-the-gas-picture face.

And you really have to click this link to see what I'm referring to.  The best part?  Greg is wearing the same shirt!

Last Day of 1st Grade

Ellie is showing her sad face because she really does not want school to be over! She made up little presents for everyone in her class.  Perler beads, of course.

Changing Clothes

It is always a big project to change clothes out.  With the warmer weather, I was motivated to switch Cece from her size 2-3 clothes to summery size 3-4.  It took us most of a day to get it done.  The funnest part for me was finding lots of zebra clothes that I had stocked up on, including these cute new pants.

Lynlee's Turn

Ellie is done with NAET so now it is Lynlee's turn.  She was nervous and excited about her test and first treatment.

Dishwasher

For a few years now, I have been vaguely annoyed when I looked at the dishwasher and noticed how bumpy and dull the control panel was.  And then some holes appeared and I was trying to rub the edge to see if I could blend it in or somehow make it look better.

And the whole piece came off.

It was a protective film that I should have removed when we moved in.

I peeled off tons of stuff 10 years ago and missed this piece.

Wow.

At least it looks great now!

Lunch at Rumbi

We were running errands as a family and Ellie talked Greg into going to Rumbi for lunch.  It was a hard sell.  She said something like, "daddy, can we please go to Rumbi for lunch?" and Greg said, "sure."

Cece is wearing a shirt that Jonette gave to Ellie when she was 3 1/2, and then wore that spring and summer, when she was turning 4.  Tall Cece is 2 and it is almost too short.

Dance Festival

Ellie was so excited to perform 3 songs in this year's dance festival.  I snuck over and took her picture before the event started.

Concert

Lynlee loves to give concerts on the front porch.  Usually she sings Saturday's Warrior songs (from the 1989 soundtrack or the 2016 soundtrack -- she likes it all).  Cece was happy to join in the fun.

Fly Swatter

One of Cece's favorite toys is a fly swatter.  A clean one.  That's never been used to kill any flies.  She carries it around and pretends to swat flies.  And sometimes she balances things on it.

I also filled out more paperwork yesterday for Cece's intervention program and counted up that she has used 282 different signs.  And that does not include people's name signs or some of the ones she has made up.

Albert's Birthday

Lynnie was so excited to help Kanisha surprise Albert for his birthday.  Kanisha and I had it all worked out, and then Albert texted me wanting to hang out with Lynlee on his birthday.  Kanisha made me lie to Albert and say that Lynlee had a doctor's appointment that I couldn't change...  That was weird, but Albert fell for it and it made the surprise all of the better.  Lynlee wore her "Albert dress" (that he gave her a while ago) and was ready to go super early.  Cece was napping, so we spent about half an hour on the porch waiting for Kanisha.  I loved getting lots of pictures of their fun afternoon.

Take Home Library

I have loved working with the Take Home Library Committee since January.  It took a few weeks for the girls to get in the routine, but now they are good sports about going for a couple of hours every Monday morning.  I get the new books ready for the students while Lu and Cece color or watch YouTube kids.  We have spent a lot of time in this little room.

Nursery Selfies

One of Cece's favorite things to do is take selfies.  She was having a hard time in nursery until we found the pretend camera.  That was fun.  But taking real pictures on Mom's phone is even better!

Violin Recital

Ellie was excited to play in the Solo Recital.  She chose Allegro and did a great job.

Daddy Time

Sometimes we only get 20 minutes with Daddy between work and his obligations at night, but he always makes the most of those minutes.  Tonight there was an impromptu dance party with Fight Song blaring from the speakers.  It exhausted Ellie and Lynnie and they needed a rest!  Or maybe they were sad that Daddy had left.  Hmmm, I can't remember.  But I do remember that we had a fun visit earlier that week from {R} and her mom, who was visiting from out of town.  Grandma G brought all of the girls fun boxes, coloring books and new crayons, which were put to good use. (I spy some on the ottoman.)

Die

Lynlee was playing with some dice, so of course Cece wanted some as well.  I couldn't find the bag of dice we have (that I keep around for playing the Candy Bar Game at Girls' Camp), but I found this awesome, huge die in a James Bond game.  Cece happily carried it around for days.

Outift

This is what happens when we go to pick up Ellie from school, and it is colder outside than expected.  Cece gets to wear clothes that are in the van:  pants from the "extra clothes" bag and a sweater that Ellie abandoned earlier that week.  Everything rolled up and Cece was good to go -- and totally happy playing in the wind!

Harry Potter -- Hermione

I found this pattern through Pinterest and Lynnie loves it.  She thinks it is hilarious that Hermione has no arms or legs.  She also likes to take off her robe and pretend to give her a bath, and then get her dressed again.

New Gymnastics Classes

Lynnie rose to the occasion and rocked her new gymnastics class.  She is by far the shortest and youngest looking, which was a big difference from before when everyone else in her class was 3.  In the preschool class, there was 1-1 attention, which meant you would do your trick with the teacher and then sit down while she helped the next student.  I realized how much waiting there was while watching Lynnie in this class.  They do 6 forward rolls in a row.  And then turn around and do 5 cartwheels back.  Lynnie's teacher also had them doing strength training, like superman holds and sit ups.  It was awesome to see how Lynlee was flourishing.

Ellie had a harder time.  She was missing her friends, especially Hope, from her old class.  And she hurt her foot on the beam.  She told me it was a pretty rough first day, but it will be OK.  And she liked spending time with Tayler before class started.

Mother's Day

Here is what Ellie wrote for me at school:

Saturday, May 7, 2016

Birth Mother's Day

Birth Mother's Day is one of my favorite holidays.  It is a chance to celebrate the amazing women who chose to place their daughters in our family.  A chance to reflect on our partnership to bring these precious daughters back to Heavenly Father.  I can never adequately convey just how much I love {T}, {M}, and {R}.  These women are my heroes!

{R} and I were able to spend the morning together getting pedicures.  The massage is always the best part, and this time there was a hot rocks massage included.  Pretty fancy!  Then we met Greg and the girls for lunch.

Sprinkles

I wasn't feeling very well, and laid down to rest in the afternoon.  Ellie appointed herself in charge and got everyone a snack of chicken nuggets, with ice cream and sprinkles for dessert.  She also showed me what she is capable of, emptying the dishwasher, putting all of the dishes away, and reloading the dishwasher.  It was very impressive.  Almost as impressive as Cece's chin ;)

Disney Princesses -- Belle

More fun hair on this princess.  I love how the ponytail turned out.

Good-bye, Friends

It was time to switch Lynnie out of the preschool class and put her where she is supposed to be, in a class for 5-8 year olds.   LPM is also moving to Wednesdays in the fall, so it was a good time to transition.  I got the girls in Monday classes, which is awesome because we will be able to see Tayler, Piper, and Hudson every week as Piper is in a Monday class.  The hard part was saying good-bye to our friends.  I have enjoyed talking with the mom Stephanie every week while Maelee plays with Cece.
Ellie & Hope were in the same class; Lynnie and Shiloh were in the same class

(while posting this, Cece pointed at Maelee and signed "friend")

Perfect Curls

I was trying to get a picture of Cece's absolutely perfect corkscrew curls tonight, but she was moving too fast.  She climbed in the tub and laid right down...

Glare

The girls looked so cute walking into church, and Cece was wearing her new shoes from {R}, so I wanted to grab a quick picture.  Of course, they turned around and were staring straight into the sun, so that didn't work out too well...
