New Outfit

We were shopping for some new shoes for Ellie, and Cece was getting restless.  I asked Lynlee to take some pictures of Cece in her cute new shirt and shoes that were a gift from {R}.  Alas, only the shirt made it in the pictures!

Saturday's Warrior at the SCERA

This has been the month for Saturday's Warrior, for sure.  We took the big girls to see it live on stage at the SCERA.  It was a version set in the '90s, and I was surprised at how many differences there were from the 1989 video.  Ellie kept on leaning over and telling me they were singing or saying the words wrong.  One noticeable example is in the song Zero Population.  Instead of singing about abortion, they sang about "family regulation."  Grandma came straight from Women's Conference and had a really long day!

Cece saw that Lynnie was sitting in the hallway criss-cross-applesauce, and she enthusiastically sat down the same way.  She made sure we all noticed that she was matching sister.

Frozen -- Little Elsa

I have been spending UPSTART working on other crochet project, and haven't crocheted a figure in a while.  But today was the completion of Little Elsa.

Cece loves this backpack and wears it pretty much every waking hour.

Sorting Complete

This is the end of what feels like a months long project, when in actuality it has been just a couple of weeks.  A couple of weeks of constant beads on the table and/or counter, and sorting every chance I got.  Sometimes for 5 hours in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep, and sometimes 2 minutes here and 6 minutes there.  But it is done.  And I will never buy a giant jumbled bin of beads again.  Single colors only from now on.  What they don't have at Joann's, they have on amazon.  In the last couple of weeks, I have personally sorted over 25,000 beads. I left just a little bit because Cece likes to play with her own bowl while Lynnie is crafting.  I finished this bin that started with 20,000ish and also sorted two other 4,000 bead collections.

Ky's Bridal Shower

Ky didn't want any presents for her bridal shower, so instead Jonette came down for the weekend and they took us out for dinner.  How nice was that?  We had a nice time visiting, and then each shared some marital advice with Ky.

Last Day of LPM

This was Lynnie's last class as a Blue Bug, and Ellie's last class as a Yellow Arrow.  They have both had a fantastic year in Let's Play Music and have learned a lot.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Ellie invited her friend Sofia to go with them to the Daddy Daughter Dance.  They had a great time!

Head Wrap

We picked up some head wraps at the store the other day, and tried it out on Cece today.  She loved it, and wore it all day long.  I liked not having to worry about whether her implant fell off of her ear.  If she jumps too much or runs too fast, it pops right off.

Billings Montana Temple

I found this article in the March/April issue of LDS Living magazine.  It brought back many memories.  I hitched a ride with Paul and Staci to go to the groundbreaking.  It was clear when we left, and it was late March and nice in Bozeman.  As a nod to unpredictable Montana weather, I was wearing tights and wool shoes, and I brought a coat.  The snowstorm was completely unexpected.  Paul and Staci had some blankets in their trunk so she and I wrapped up in those.  Scott and Paul were on duty directing traffic, and I think that Scott was just in his short sleeved white shirt and Paul maybe had a windbreaker.  That's how my faulty memory goes, anyway.  And my wool shoes were ruined -- they shrunk as they dried.  Oh, well.  Small price to pay to be a part of the experience.

The Wallet Helps

When I took Pops to the late movie last Friday night, I packed a purse with my wallet, keys, and cell phone.  I forgot to repack the diaper bag this morning, and we got all of our shopping done and had everything bagged up at the check out when I realized I was wallet-less.  We parked our cart by customer service, zipped home and got the wallet, and went back to pay for our stuff.

Dinner At Bobi's House

It's the sign of a busy weekend when both Ellie and Lynnie fall asleep driving to Aunt Bobi's house at 3:30 in the afternoon. Cece loved her special seat at the dinner table -- nice and tall.

Provo City Center Temple

Greg and I were able to join Lyssa and her family at the temple today when Lyssa received her endowment.  It was our first time at the Provo City Center Temple, and it was beautiful.

Saturday's Warrior...Again

Pops is in town for a couple of days (coming to be with Lyssa as she receives her endowment).  He stayed with us for 2 nights and then with Bobi for 2 nights.  After we got the girls to bed, Pops and I slipped out to see the late showing of Saturday's Warrior.  I liked it even better the second time.

Bye Bye

This crib sheet has seen it's last washing.  It has been in almost constant use since Ellie was a baby.  It was a little sad to see it come out of the washer with holes in it.

Star Wars -- Stormtrooper

I have finally completed every figure from the Star Wars kit.  Lynnie thought it was pretty funny that the Storm Trooper has a frown.

Updated Pancake Recipe

I posted a pancake recipe way back when and I make pancakes all the time from it, with many modifications.  It is time to update that recipe for myself, so that I don't have to do all of the changes in my head anymore.

2 cups white or wheat flour (or combo)
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 heaping tablespoons ground flaxseed
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 cups buttermilk (splash vinegar in the bottom of the measuring cup and then fill up with milk -- let sit a min)
1 large or 2 small apples, peeled and grated
2 eggs
1/2 cup heavy cream (or regular milk)
1/4 cup butter, melted
1.Get your milk and vinegar working to create buttermilk and set aside.
2.Grate the apples, and add eggs.  Beat together.  Add cream and butter.  Pour in the buttermilk and mix well.
3.Add the dry ingredients, but don't stir until everything is in.  Gently fold together, but don't overmix.

Perler Beads

Every day this week, there has been some perler bead play.  Lynlee especially has created many masterpieces.  Some of hers are shown on the bottom.  She has decided that Harry Potter is now her favorite movie, so she made Hermione and Ginny figures.

Friday, April 8, 2016

When Ellie was crafting with a friend a week or two ago, one of the boxes of beads got knocked off the table and created an epic spill.  We swept it all up, I washed them off and got them dried, and then just put them back in the box all jumbled.  It felt overwhelming to think about resorting them.  When Mom was here today to babysit the girls, she took the initiative to sort them.  She had done a good chunk by the time Greg and I got home from our date (our neighbor Paige's wedding reception).  We jumped right in to help, and managed to get the box done before midnight.

Ice Cream

What do you do when you need to pick up a few things at the grocery store, but it doesn't take as long as you expected and you need to kill 15 minutes before leaving for gymnastics?  We get ice cream cones.

Ellie loves to organize and reorganize her treasures in her bed.  She will move her pillow from one side to the other, and line everything up just so.  She has special stuffed animals, her alarm clock, tissues, and a crate full of books.

Lemonade Stand

These sweet friends created a lemonade stand.  They spent about an hour making signs.  They had plans to deliver them to the neighbors to advertise, but I convinced them they should just tape them up to the fence and the light pole.  The girls played outside for quite a while, and managed to sell  cups to their little sisters, me, and Rachel's mom.

General Conference

Because Greg gets to preside at the church building during General Conference, we have the opportunity to go with him.  He took Ellie to the Saturday afternoon session, and all of us walked down to go to the Sunday morning session.  On the way home, we found some ants and Cece helpfully signed bug.

Disney Princesses -- Cinderella

Cinderella's hair was fun to figure out.  I ended up pulling it out twice and redoing it.  I was on a roll and crocheted late last night.  But trying new popcorn bubble stitches at 1:30 a.m. is not really the best idea.

Star Wars Shirt

Sister Meiners is just the nicest friend ever and made Lynlee this awesome Star Wars shirt.
