Frozen -- Little Anna

Every time I finish a doll, it becomes my favorite!  Little Anna is really sweet and I like the colors.  Plus, she was really fast because she is so little.

Play Date

We love Eli.  Lynlee tells me she is going to marry him in the temple when they grow up.  They have the same birthday, so they call themselves birthday twins.

Star Wars -- Chewbacca

Chewbacca is definitely one of my favorites.  I love how he turned out.  The instructions called for brushing the yarn with a metal pet brush (which we had to buy).  It really stretched it out and gave a nice furry effect.

The girls have all loved these plastic animal figurines, but I think Cece loves them the most.  She discovered that she can put them in the bath and she will play forever.

Easter Egg Hunt

We love the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Todd & Rachel's house.  The timing worked out perfectly to go in between two gymnastics exhibitions.

One of new visiting teachers is the Sweet Tooth Fairy (the owner of the cupcake chain).  She was kind and brought us some cupcakes.  I jokingly asked her if she always felt obligated to bring treats, and she said, "pretty much!"

One of the best things that has happened this year is the chance for Lynlee to play with her friend Paisley every Thursday while Cece and I go to ASL playgroup.  Lynlee has really blossomed with her mandatory playdate.  Sister Meiners and Pai are so kind and patient with her and Lynnie always enjoys herself.  Especially when Sister Meiners has a castle set up in the living room.

Disney Princesses -- Ariel

It was finally time to make a stuffy for Cece.  Her Disney Princesses kit came with yarn for Ariel and Cinderella, and Lynnie decided I should do Ariel first.  This was also a challenging pattern, but I got it figured out.  I am sure it will be easier as I learn how things are written in this kit.  Lynnie was concerned that Ariel was not very modest, so I figured out how to give her more coverage on her bathing suit.

New Tray

I used this cute tray that was a present from Tiff for the first time tonight.  So I had to text her a picture.

Bubble Bath

I didn't think to take a picture until the tub was drained and they were trying to clean up the bubbles.  It was crazy how many bubbles they made with the jets.

Family Dinner

We have family dinner once a month at my mom's house, but this month I offered to host.  It was the Provo City Center Temple dedication, and Mom offered to watch the girls so I could go.  She went to the 9 a.m. session and then came so I could go to the 12:00 session.  Then she had to run back home for her ward choir practice and then everyone came back to my house for dinner.  Whew!  Mom had a busy day!

Adam let Lynnie do his hair.  He looked so pretty.

Rock Climbing

We spent a couple of hours at the Seven Peaks Fun Center by our house, and Ellie was most excited to climb the rock wall.

Lesson Learned

Ellie is in 3 activities: gymnastics, violin, and Let's Play Music.  Between homework and practicing both the violin and the piano, she is busy after school.  We mostly average practicing three times a week for violin (M, T, W) because it takes between 30-45 minutes to do everything on her list.  LPM takes 10 minutes or less, and we have managed to do the equivalent of 5 days of practice every week all year long.  Generally she has to double up -- doing double practice on M and T and practicing once on W.  This week, Ellie had a NAET appointment on Monday and it derailed all practicing that day.  Tuesday she stayed home from school sick and even though we talked about practicing off and on all day, it didn't get done.  Wednesday before gymnastics, Ellie chose to practice violin.  I reminded her after dinner to run downstairs and practice, but it was after 7 and she was tired.  On Thursdays we go straight to violin after school.  When we got home, I told Ellie we could go practice right then, but again she decided not to.

Friday morning, Ellie woke up in a panic and wanted to practice LPM right then.  It hit her that she had not practiced at all that week and she wouldn't earn her reward at class.  There is no time in the morning, so I told her no.  Ellie broke down sobbing, so disappointed.  When I picked her up from school, again she wanted to go practice right then.  But she only has 15 minutes to eat lunch before class.

This was a hard lesson to learn.  Luckily, Miss Sheryl believes in repentance and told Ellie she could practice double the next week to make it up (and Ellie did).

Frozen -- Anna

Anna was another fun project.  The Frozen kit came with yarn to do Anna and Elsa, including embroidery floss for Anna's dress.  Somehow the little packet with floss went missing.  (I found it a couple of weeks later.)  I debated leaving her dress unembroidered, since I am not that great at embroidery, but after looking at her for a day, I headed to the craft store to pick up some floss.

I have had this plant since I was a teenager.  I have to drastically cut it back every couple of years.  But every time I do, I get worried that this time it won't grow back.  It always does, though.  There is probably a life lesson in there...

Play Dough

Cece loves Play Dough and plays it almost every day.  Most of the time Lynnie and/or Ellie will also jump in.  Lynnie made this creation and wanted me to take a picture of it.  I can't remember if it is Princess Leia or Queen Padme.  (I checked with Lynnie and she says it is Leia).

New Shoes

Cece is wearing size 6 shoes now, and there were no shoes in the stash.  Ellie and Lynnie obviously wore out all of the shoes they had in this size.  So Cece and I hit Target and picked up a few pairs.

Floor Puzzle

Lynnie was excited to work on this puzzle and put it together all by herself.

Daddy Snuggles

Now that basketball is (mostly) over, Cece keeps on abandoning me to snuggle Daddy.  I'm totally fine with that.  I love watching them together.

BCLs Reunion

Kandice and her family came to Utah for a visit on her Spring Break.  I was so excited to meet her and Steph and Kelly for dinner.  It is always fun to catch up!

Star Wars -- Padme

Since Cece doesn't really care, and Lynnie was begging, we started the rotation over with her and created Queen Padme, modeled after this picture from one of her Star Wars Golden Books.  It was a relief to go back to the "easier" pattern and I knocked this one out in just 2 days of UPSTART.

Linen Closet

The linen closet had gotten completely out of control, so I took a day to empty it, clean it, organize the items, and put it all back together.  Lynnie loved the empty shelves and was really sad when it was time to load the closet back up.

Frozen -- Elsa

When I started crocheting the amigurumi dolls, Ellie said I should do all of the Star Wars ones first.  But then we decided to start a rotation with the Frozen dolls for her and the Disney Princess dolls for Cece.  First up was Elsa (of course!).  I am really glad I started with the Star Wars dolls because Elsa was much more complicated.  I might not have gotten very far if I started with her.

A highlight of my week is watching the girls conduct the songs in Family Home Evening.

P.S.  Grandma, notice the violin bag -- we had actually practiced that day :)

More Bathtime

Ellie and Lynnie stand up to get all washed and then sit down to rinse.  Cece has decided that she needs to do that as well.  She loves to get soap in her hands and rub it all over her body, face, and hair.  It's pretty cute.

*and please excuse the blurriness--Cece was moving so quickly*

Ellie wanted to swim in the hot tub, but it wasn't ready.  So the girls happily swam in the "big tub" instead.

Silly Sisters

Lynnie thought it was pretty funny to climb in to Cece's crib.  Then Cece had the idea that they should drink milk and pretend to be sleeping babies.  Lynnie was on board with that.

New Scriptures

On the way home from ASL playgroup, Cece and I stopped to pick up her Book of Mormon.  She always tries to take her sisters during scripture time, so I thought she needed her own copy.  Cece did not want to take a picture holding it, though.  And Ellie picked out the outfit this morning: "Mom, look it matches because it is all stripes!"

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Cece and I were watching a documentary I found on Netflix about the first black principal dancer at a major ballet company in New York.  Cece loved all of the dancing, and would try to copy the movement.  It was hilarious because we were in the recliner, but she just kept on laughing and dancing.

Star Wars -- Darth Vadar

I think it is so cute when Lynnie mispronounces words.  She calls this character Dark Vadar.
