Poor, Sick Girls

We had a rough night, and Sunday morning I had the same debate -- go to Stake Conference or stay home?  Again, we soldiered through and went to church.  Ellie rallied because she loves sitting with the Bunnell girls.  Lynlee sat on my lap and whimpered.  When we got home, everyone took a nap.  Around 4, I knew we needed some answers, so I texted Greg and loaded everyone up to go to the Instacare.  I thought maybe they had ear infections.

When we got in to see the doctor, the first question she asked was whether we had had our flu shots this year.  And I realized we had not.  Every year, we all get one because somebody is at a well child check in the fall/early winter.  But this year, we didn't have a check up for anyone and I didn't think to make an appointment for flu shots.

After testing, we found that Ellie and Lynlee had Influenza A and we were put on a week quarantine.

Greg (who made it about the time we got in the room to see the doctor) and I could not believe it.

Those poor girls!

I am sure I will not forget to get flu shots next year...

Stake Conference

Ellie was not feeling well today again, and Lynnie also was feeling icky.  It was Stake Conference and we had a visiting authority, so the Stake Young Women's Presidency had put together a dinner for the Stake Presidency and their wives in between the  Priesthood Leadership session and the Adult Session.  I waffled all day whether to cancel the babysitter and stay with the girls because they were pretty miserable.  At 3:30, I even pulled up Olivia's phone number, but then talked myself out of pushing SEND.  I was worried about making the appearance, and thought maybe I was overreacting.  I just wasn't sure what to do.

So I went.   And worried about the girls the whole time.  And came home to very miserable girls and a 12 year old babysitter that was worried because she could not help them.

(And then Olivia got sick, too, which was terrible.)

Let's just say that Motrin was our friend this day.

Late Night With Hannah

I kept Ellie home from school yesterday and today as she was not feeling well and had a fever.  She was doing better Friday morning, so she went to music class and thought she was well enough to keep her late night date with Hannah.  I gave full disclosure to Hannah's mom, and we debated cancelling.  Kari said they would risk it, and we had the late night.  The girls had a great time playing with their Puppy Surprises.

Star Wars - Boba Fett

Boba Fett was a fun project but a little more tricky because of all of the color changes and extra sewing.  He turned out really cool.

Violin Practice

We try to be good violin practicers, but really manage only 3 days a week.  With the new year, Grandma had all of her students set violin goals, and Ellie made the goal to practice 6 days a week (in order to earn a sticker at lessons).  This week, she made it!

My Turn for a Picture

Lynlee was Princess Leia, holding a bouquet of flowers and wanted her picture taken.  Then Cece wanted her picture, and pushed Lynnie out of the way.  I probably shouldn't find that amusing, but I do.  Cece lately loves to wear hats and mittens/gloves.  Anytime, anywhere.

A Birthday Present for Miss Fox

At the beginning of the school year, Ellie's teacher told them some of her favorite things.  One was that she loved Star Wars.  Ellie decided the perfect birthday present for Miss Fox would be a Star Wars stuffy.  She "sneakily" asked Miss Fox one day who her favorite Star Wars characters are, and Miss Fox said Luke and R2D2.  So I made R2D2 for her birthday (and then Luke for a Valentine's Day present).  The best part of the present is definitely Ellie's note.

Birthday Outfit

This gorgeous outfit was a birthday present from {R}.  Cece looked so cute and sparkly in it!

Ellie's Glasses

Ellie had a second eye doctor appointment, and it was confirmed that she does need glasses.  Her prescription is -1 in each eye, with a slight stigmatism.  We took her prescription to Costco and she picked out these frames.

Star Wars - Jabba the Hut

Jabba the Hut is so much bigger than the other Star Wars figures that I used up an entire skein of yarn before he was completed.  It took me a while to get back to JoAnn's, but the tail was finished quickly once I had more yarn.

Star Wars - R2D2 and C3PO

Two more figures done and photographed on the same day.  R2D2 is cool because he stands up by himself.

Getting in the Van

One of the cute routines is how we get in the van.  Typically, I ask Lynlee to get her shoes on and she meanderingly makes her way to the back door.  I will have Cece buckled in her seat by the time Lynnie gets outside.  Cece loves to lift her feet up and have Lynnie crawl in underneath her.  Cece will usually get all excited and sign THANK YOU or HELP.

NAET with Kylene

Kylene has a lot of allergies, and I have spoken with her a lot over the years about my success with NAET.  She has been saving her money and had decided that it was time to start treatments for herself.  We went with her that first time.  Ellie was so excited to be Ky's helper and sat with her during the test to determine all of Ky's allergies.  Lucky us, we got to play with Tobyn in the waiting room for the hour.

Kiera

We love when Kiera comes to visit, and especially when she reads us stories.  Cece wore her Princess Leia bandage for the first 48 hours, and then was able to leave it off at night.  She wore it during the day for the next 3 days and then she was all done with it.

Recovery

Cece bounced right back after surgery, feeling enough better Saturday afternoon to run around the church during Ellie's basketball lesson with Daddy.

Cochlear Implant Surgery - Right Ear

Cece's favorite part of the day was after her sedative kicked in.  She was so giggly!

Funny Faces

Cece loves to make funny faces and watch herself in the mirror.  This is her last day wearing hearing aids, so I got her all fancy to take some pictures.

Ellie's Organizational Skills

Ellie loves to make her bed and arrange all of her things just so.  This is her current arrangement.

Play Dough

Play dough is Cece's favorite thing to do right now.  She will happily play for hours.

Take Home Library

At Ellie's charter school, they ask for one parent to volunteer 40 hours during the year.  I signed up for about 7 things at Back to School Night, and only accrued about 12 hours during the fall.  When a post came on Facebook looking for more Take Home Library volunteers, where you can bring younger siblings (most things you cannot), I jumped at the chance and signed up for every Monday.  I will hit my 40 hours now!  This was our first time going, and we were not quite prepared for how long it would take.  The Friday volunteers put away the returned books, and then the Monday volunteers put together the new book packets.  The Friday volunteers did not come last time, so we first unpacked and then started filling new boxes.  After about two and a half hours, I could not keep the girls happy anymore, and we had to abandon ship.  Hopefully it will go more smoothly next Monday.

And on a side note, Wicket has replaced Puppy.  Lynnie brings Wicket everywhere with us, and sleeps with him as her snuggle buddy.  It is nice because Wicket is a lot smaller than Puppy and much more portable.  But I already miss Puppy!

Prayer Time

I've been trying to get a picture of Cece during prayer for a while now.  But even when I'm sneaking in low light conditions, she catches me.  She folds her arms and squeezes her eyes closed and it is just. so. cute!

Zoodles

Ellie helped me make the "zoodles" for tonight (zucchini noodles).  They were so much fun to make, she decided to be brave and try them.  She ate quite a few bites and said she liked them.  Veggies for the win!

Sad Baby

Every other week I get to go with Lynlee to her Let's Play Music class, and Grandma Camp comes to play with Cece.  Most of the time, Cece has a great time.  But today, she had a hard time.  I left her screaming her head off.  Grandma tried everything and could not get her happy.  After only a few minutes, Cece just laid down and fell asleep on the family room floor.

Star Wars - Princess Leia

I am starting to see the patterns in the figures, as I used a lot of the same stitches.  Princess Leia came together more quickly.  It has become the pattern to work on the figures while Lynlee does UPSTART.

Star Wars - Wicket the Ewok

Jessica was working on crocheted princesses back at Thanksgiving, and when we saw a Star Wars kit at Costco, I had to get it for Lynlee.  I told her I needed to finish their Christmas present blankets first.  Cece's is still nowhere near being finished, but I was ready for a new project, so I broke out the kit.  It was hard at first, because I am not super great at reading patterns.  I was really happy with how cute Wicket turned out.

Eye Doctor

Ellie had a full week of doctor's appointments!  3 visits to the dentist and 1 to an eye doctor.  Ellie has been telling me for a couple of weeks that everything is blurry.  It hit home for me when we were in Sacrament Meeting.  Ellie likes to find the hymns.  The board in the front said 136, and she turned to 186.  We went to a budget eye doctor, and I was not very confident in the results, mostly because Ellie seemed to have a hard time giving responses (e.g., is #1 or #2 better?).  I scheduled another appointment with a highly recommended eye doctor and we go in a couple of weeks.

Happy Baby

Cece likes to take toys into her bed when it is naptime.  This time, she insisted on taking some balls that were part  of her Christmas present from {R}.  Then Cece woke up so happy from her nap.  I think it's because she knows how much {R} loves her.

Christmas With The Camps

The little girls loved playing in Grandma's circus tent when we got together to celebrate Christmas.  We waited until Grandma got home from Oman, where she had been visiting Amy.

Hot Tub Fun

Cece and I tried to surreptitiously take a picture of the hot tub, and it was so surreptitious that I cannot tell who is in there, nor can I remember now (6 weeks later).  Oh, well.  I am sure it was a fun night!  Happy New Year
