Costumes at LPM

The girls were excited to wear their costumes to Let's Play Music, even though Ellie doesn't look all that enthralled in the picture.  I'm so glad they have an amazing teacher like Miss Sheryl, who goes above and beyond in all ways -- including small ways like emailing these pictures to the moms.

I'm Just Gonna Fall Asleep Right Now

Every night, tells me something like this:

Lynlee:  Will you rub my arm, and not stop for a long time?  Because I'm just gonna fall asleep right now.

And then she closes her eyes and falls asleep.  It is the sweetest thing.

Early Morning Grocery Store Run

Greg takes Ellie to school every morning, except for Wednesdays when he has a 7 am business owners breakfast meeting.  So I get to take her, which is always fun.  After we dropped her off, we hopped over to Smith's to pick up some milk.  Lulu talked me into a donut for their breakfast.  I'm pretty sure this was Cece's first donut, and she wasn't a fan.  She licked of the sprinkles and that was about it.

New Ear Molds

We picked up Cece's new ear molds today.  I knew her old ones weren't fitting all that well, but I didn't realize how bad it was until we got the new ones.

Halloween Shirts

I used to be really good about buying shirts for next year's holidays after they went on clearance the year before.  I've had these Halloween shirts stored for maybe 2 years.  I have gotten out of the habit and don't have anything stored beyond Christmas shirts for this year.  This is my favorite outtake shot of our quick attempt to take a picture in their cute outfits.  Ellie and Lynnie were mad at how things were going, but Cece is all smiles!

Pretty Girl

Cece is already showing awareness of being "pretty" and liking glamorous things.  She likes to pick out her shoes and her socks.  She brings me nail polish to put on her nails.  She loves to brush her hair and put conditioner in it.  She loves to put lotion on.  It's pretty cool that she inherited her love of all things pretty from her birth mom.

I couldn't get her to look at the camera -- she was too busy watching Lulu.

Pumpkin Patch

The corn pit at the pumpkin patch was a hit!  Lynlee was more cautious about jumping in, but loved it when she tried it.

Cece's Blankets

With Cece, I jumped on the muslin swaddle blanket bandwagon.  The BCLs gave us an Aden + Anais set, and Cece quickly showed a preference for them over the flannel swaddle blankets that were hand-me-downs from her sisters.  I also found an inexpensive set at Walmart and had to buy it because it was a zebra print.  After daily use of her favorite blankets (and constant washing), the Walmart set has held up much better and have washed up softer than the expensive brand.  Cece sucks on the corners and also rubs the corners when she is drinking milk.  The Aden + Anais set have all yellowed corners and they are starting to fray.  The Walmart set is just fine.

Baylee's Birthday Party

Because of Uncle Ed's funeral last week, Baylee's birthday party got postponed.  It was fun to go and celebrate this beautiful girl turning 1.

Fall Break

Ellie asked last night if she got to go back to school tomorrow, and when I told her it was still Fall Break, she was sad.  I am glad that she loves school so much!  Since we were all home, everyone helped Lulu do UPSTART.  And check out her gold medal displayed proudly on the wall!

Sunday Morning Pedicure

This was all Ellie's idea and all Ellie's execution.  She had Lu soak her feet in the sink, and then she lotioned, clipped nails, and painted toes.  She even dried the nail polish with the hair dryer.  That's full service right there.

Discovery Park

For Family Fun Day, we went to an early dinner at the Pizza Factory and then stopped at Discovery Park on our way home.

Mommy and Daddy's Temple

On our way home from Uncle Ed's funeral in Rigby, we stopped by the Idaho Falls Temple.  The girls were pretty excited to see Mommy and Daddy's temple!

UPSTART Postcard

Lu was beyond thrilled to get a postcard from Rusty and Rosy, the UPSTART raccoons.  She has only missed one day of doing her online preschool since July, and that is because our computer was broken and we forgot to use Daddy's laptop that night when he got home from work.  She earned a gold medal and she is very proud of it.

Sweet Baby

I just can't seem to stop taking pictures of this sweet baby while she's drinking milk.  Our morning routine is this:

~ get Ellie off to school
~ feed Lu and Cece breakfast
~ do UPSTART
~ turn on Baby Signing Time and get Cece some milk while I take a shower

Cece usually watches for a few minutes until she is done with her milk, and then she will carefully put her bottle on the nightstand, and come entertain me.

Coconut Chips

In an effort to be more healthy, I have stopped eating sugar and stopped drinking Diet Coke.  It's been 3 months and I am still going strong.  I keep on telling myself it is a permanent lifestyle shift, because I tend to be all or nothing when it comes to my addictions.  I replaced drinking DC first thing in the morning with a green smoothie, and I replaced sugar snacks with these coconut chips from Costco.  They are delicious!

Oatmeal

Oatmeal has been Ellie's favorite food for a very long time.  I found this pin on Pinterest and decided it was time to make her a more healthy alternative.  The original recipe calls for dry milk, but since I make her oatmeal with milk I omitted that ingredient (after a trial run).  We put all of the ingredients in a snack sized Ziploc bag and stored it in the freezer.

1/4 c quick oats
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp ground flaxseed
2 tsp oat bran
1/8 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt
2 T brown sugar

Even though she needed 2 T of brown sugar to make it taste the same as her Quacker packets, I feel good about it because we added chia and flax seeds.  The omega 3s balance out the sugar, right?

Ellie liked it so much she ate 3 bowls the day we made our packets up, and 3 bowls the next day.

Perfect Spelling Test

Spelling does not come very easily to Ellie.  And I am glad.  Reading has always been easy.  Math has always been easy.  I am glad that there is a subject that she needs to work hard on and that she can experience the joy of success.  She is so proud of her perfect spelling test, because she worked really hard to learn her words.

Cowgirl Lulu

While Cece and I go to ASL playgroup, Lulu gets to play with Paisley and Sister Meiners.  She loves it!  Today she went all out when picking her outfit, and was excited to be Cowgirl Lulu.

Looking So Cute

Ellie was looking so cute, that I just had to take her picture.  She loves this shirt because it has hedgehogs on it, and Tayler used to have a hedgehog for a pet (it died a while ago).

Birthday Lunch Brouhaha

Ellie woke up this morning not feeling very well, so I kept her home from school.  After our normal morning routine, we loaded up in the van to go pick up Grandma to take her out for a birthday lunch.  She was coming back from an appointment, and I thought we beat her to her house, so I pulled in the driveway, and turned off the van to wait.  But I left the movie playing for the girls.

The van has a "safety" feature where the battery will shut down  if a door is left open to long.  Or the movie is left on too long.  After about 10 minutes of waiting, my mom found us (she had actually in the house the whole time -- watching for us out the front window, but I pulled in the driveway trying to make it easier for when she drove home).  She hopped in the van, and I went to start it, but it wouldn't start.

I immediately knew I had killed it.

Mom backed her car out of the garage so I could jump the van.  We tried her cables, and my cables, and putting the cables on and off multiple times, but I couldn't get it to work.

So I called Greg.

Luckily, he had just gotten in the truck with everyone from his office, and they were headed out to lunch.  He offered to drive up and rescue us.

While we waited, the girls played with the wiggle cars and on the swing set, and Grandma and I picked tomatoes.

When the cavalry pulled up, Tammy immediately grabbed Cece, Uncle David fixed my cables, and in two seconds Uncle Todd had the van started.  It was like a miracle.  We chatted for a minute and then we all headed out.  The original plan had been to go pick up Bobi and eat lunch by her house, but with our delay, she drove down to us and we ate at the Cafe Rio in Draper.

I don't have a picture of any of that, but I wanted to write out the story.  The picture I did take was that afternoon when we were walking to Activity Days at Sister Gardner's house.  It was perfect weather, and Cece just wanted to run.  No sitting in the stroller for her!

New Dress

This dress reminded me of {R}, so I had to get it for Cece.  We went to the church to watch the Sunday morning session of General Conference.

Out With The Old

After we first met with Tayler, we stopped at Babies 'R Us on the way home and picked up a few things, including this diaper bag.  I didn't know much about diaper bags at the time, but just wanted something simple.  We liked this one because it had an attached changing pad and bottle pockets inside.

It was all good until we started using it, and realized the functionality of the bag was not the greatest.  The attached changing pad was too small to actually use after Ellie was about a month old.  Her little head was squashed up in the bag and her bum was off.  The bottle pockets were too small to fit our Avent bottles.  And the one, giant pocket was too big and it was hard to keep things organized.

But, in spite of the challenges, it has been our diaper bag for over 6 years.  Our Avent bottles are now old and a little leaky, and I had washed the bag and cleaned up milk leaks one too many times.  Plus, Cece is old enough now that I don't carry as much stuff, so it was time to buy a purse-type bag and retire this one.

So, good-bye, diaper bag!  You represent a lot of memories.

SEPs

Love this display that Ellie created for parent/teacher conferences.
