Folding Arms

Cece has started folding her arms for prayer, and even occasionally will bow her head and close her eyes.

Find My iPhone

I finally see the wisdom in the Find My iPhone feature. Ellie was playing on my phone while I was making dinner, and then opened an app for Cece.  We needed to leave to take some things to my friend Kandice, who is moving to Wyoming, and we could not find that phone anywhere.  We just left without it.  After talking with Kandice and her family for an hour, I took Ellie to meet Bobi for a date to see a play at the Lehi Arts Center.  Then I came home and put Lynnie and Cece to bed.  And tried to find my phone again.

And then I remembered this feature, and hopped on the computer.  My iPad was in my room, and the GPS showed my phone west of that, so I knew it had to be in one of the girls' rooms.  Then I saw the "play sound" button.  Even though my ringer was off, it made a beautiful chiming noise.  I heard it in the big girls' room and eventually found in inside of Ellie's pants drawer, buried under some pants.  It was pretty comical trying to narrow down that noise to behind, underneath, or next to the dresser.

Drinking Milk

Cece has started wanting to drink her milk independently, sitting next to me on the couch.  And she has started pushing her blanket(s) under her legs.

Cleaning Up

"Lynnie, please go put this shirt away.  It is still clean."

"OK, Mom!"

Monday, July 27, 2015

Normally when Cece wakes up in the morning, she immediately wants milk.  But this morning, she signed "grapes" as I was changing her diaper.  So I got her grapes.

I get to speak in Stake Conference in a couple of weeks, and Greg invited me to a meeting with all of the speakers for the session.  Sweet Hailey came back to the church at 4:30 to play with girls so they wouldn't be distracting in the meeting.  They started in the nursery but ended up running around the gym.  Cece liked Hailey so much, that when I came to find them at 5, Cece came to my arms, and then immediately vaulted back to Hailey.  It was pretty sweet!
P.S.  I couldn't find any good, recent pictures of Hailey with the girls (and I didn't think to take one today), so I borrowed this one from almost a year ago.

The kale in our garden went crazy, and it was fun to harvest some of it.  Ellie helped me triple wash it and pull the leaves from the stems.  And two of our friends helped us eat it.

Not only does Cece like to drink green smoothies, she likes to help make them.  She loves to put in the ingredients, especially the spinach.  Lynnie wanted her own "purple" smoothie that morning, so I made her a special one with blueberries.  She only drank a little before deciding she was done.  She did eat all of her blueberries, though.  Lu likes them best when they are frozen.

A Day at the Farm

Cece could not get enough of the ponies at the farm.  She pointed and signed "horse" and loved watching them through the fence.  When it was time for Ellie and Lynnie to have a ride, she was not as excited...

Green Smoothie

I am kicking my Diet Coke habit (AGAIN) and replacing it with a green smoothie in the morning.  I have found a combo that doesn't taste great, but doesn't taste terrible.  And, surprisingly, Cece loves it and always drinks with me.  I think it's the novelty of the straw, and that it is totally cold with lots of ice.  It's packed full of vegetables and flax seed, and I am happy to share.  She drank everything that you can see gone out of this cup.  I was very impressed!

Lauren's Bridal Shower

Fun times at Lauren's bridal shower.  Adam made an appearance at the end to help open my presents.  My favorite moment was when someone made a provocative comment and then asked Adam to respond.  He said something like, "how am I supposed to respond to that?"  OK, that's not reading very funny, but it was pretty funny in the moment.

Happy Birthday to Greg

Greg got to go golfing early on his birthday, one of his favorite things to do.  He says there is almost nothing better than being on the course right as the sun is rising.  He came home to some simple presents and some excited daughters.

Hair Cuts

Lynnie wanted her hair to match Ellie's, and be off of her neck.  It is the shortest she's ever had it, but it turned out super cute and we all love it.  Cece loved sitting in a chair and pretending to do her hair.   She ran her hands through her hair, and fluffed it, and laughed.c

It's The Little Things...

...that make all of the difference.  My hot water faucet was leaking, so Greg and I were sharing a sink (1st World problems, I know -- it wasn't that big of a deal).  But today we had a plumber come and fix it, and it is really nice to have it working again.

Walking In To Dance Class

Cece loves to hold her big sisters' hands when we are walking places.  She will reach up and grab their hands, and it is the sweetest thing.

Monday, July 13, 2015

Lynnie adores our neighbor Kabe.  She saw him outside and just had to go and see if he wanted to play.  Kind Kabe, 6 years older than Lu, patiently showed her how to throw a Frisbee.  They "played" for about half an hour before Lynnie came home, so excited that her future husband would spend time with her.

Cece and I snuck this picture from the office window.

21 Years

Grandma agreed to babysit, and we were off to celebrate our anniversary.  We started with a session at the temple and then went out to dinner.  We tried Harvest first, but it was closed for a break between lunch and dinner.  So we went back to Toscano's and got there at 4:10.  Dinner pricing started at 4.  Oops -- that mistake cost us an extra $12.  Oh, well.  It was a good day celebrating with my love.

Homemade Play Dough

We made some homemade play dough this morning for our next Play Unplugged badge, and took it to the Lehi Bakery to collect our badge.  Of course we had to get a donut while we were there, and had fun sitting on the bench on Main Street and watching all of the cars go by.  I told the girls how we used to drive down Main Street every day, since we lived out that way, and after we were done with our donuts we did a drive by of our old house.

On Our Way Home...

...and we stopped for lunch at McDonald's.  We thought it would be a quick stop, but the girls were having such a good time playing that we stayed for over an hour.

Drinking Milk

Cece is so cute when she drinks her milk.  She loves to put the cap on her toes.  And sometimes she just wants to walk around the room holding her bottle.  Or she wants to sit on Daddy's legs.

Swimming at Ky's Pool

The girls had so much fun swimming at Ky's pool last week, that they were thrilled with the impromptu decision to go swimming again as a whole family.  A great way to celebrate the day off for the 4th of July.

Pork Chops

I've started a little thing I'm calling "Kid of the Day" that rotates between Ellie and Lynnie.  Whoever is Kid of the Day gets to make decisions like where to sit in the van, or what to eat for lunch, or what show to watch while we snuggle before bed.  It has cut out the arguments and whining, and they are doing great at taking turns.  It was Lynnie's turn to pick a show, and she said she wanted to watch Pork Chops.

American Ninja Warrior

Aunt Amy told us about a fun show called American Ninja Warrior.  It is Ellie's favorite show now, and she wants to be a Warrior when she grows up.  She trains every day on the chin up bar, and practicing her gymnastics.
