Uncle Kevin

The girls and I headed to pick up Grandma Camp to go to the Noon Year's Eve celebration at the aquarium.  We went inside Grandma's house for an hour and visited with Aunt Robyn and Uncle Kevin.  When we got to the aquarium, the parking lot was completely full and cars were parked along the road.  It looked way to busy for us, so we abandoned that idea and just went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch.
Lynnie wore her cheetah headband so she would match Cece :)

Grandma Camp

Aunt Robyn and Uncle Kevin are in town and were supposed to come over for a visit.  Their plans changed, so Grandma came in their place.  We had to go downstairs and show Grandma how good we are at riding our bikes now.  Lynnie loves to call her bike "Huffy" and Ellie calls hers "Lil Gem."  It is so cute that they think the brand names are the actual names of their bikes.

And Cece showed off her playing skills to Grandma.

Christmas Package for {M}

I sent all of my Christmas packages out late this year, and the package for {M} was the last one to go.  Lynnie worked really hard on her card and did it all by herself..  She picked stickers of things that {M} likes (dolphins, Tinkerbell, Hello Kitty, and an M).  Lynnie also put in stickers that are special to her (like Linny from the Wonder Pets, a penguin, and Dumbo).  She loves {M} so much and talks about her often.

Christmas Party with Tayler

Anytime we get to see Tayler is a special time, and it's especially special when the dads get to be with us as well!  Hudson was not very excited that Cece kept on trying to steal his binkie, but Ellie, Lynnie, and Piper were very excited to open presents.  The biggest hit was the matching Hello Kitty pajama pants I got for Tayler and Ellie.

Cece has been working hard and has 3 and a half teeth on full display.

Stories and Snuggles

Cece is usually bathed, fed, and asleep in bed by 6:30 p.m.  Then we can focus on the big girls, who love to read stories and have snuggles.  It is awesome on nights that Daddy is home to read the stories.  And even more awesome when we read new stories -- especially ones that were sent by Aunt Amy all the way from Oman.

Christmas Morning

After a few attempts to get a picture by the tree, this picture is the best I could manage.  These girls are so darling!

Christmas Eve

Grandma Great has always hosted an event on Christmas Eve where the Nativity is read and carols are sung.  This year, my mom hosted, and the cousins all came around 5 p.m.  Cece got to play with her 2nd cousin Vera.  Vera is about 3 weeks older.  Cece crawled right up to Vera and sat on her lap -- or tried to!

Where Did It Go?

Cece's new favorite game is to drop things down the side of our bed and then fall to the ground, pick the object up, stand up, and drop it again.

Lights at Thanksgiving Point

I texted my inside source (Nick, who works there) last week to find out when it was the least busiest at the lights at Thanksgiving Point.  He said to go on a Thursday at 6.  Since that wasn't going to happen with Greg's schedule, we aimed to be there at 6 on Monday night.  We got there around 6:20 and the line was waaaaay shorter than last year, so that strategy paid off.  By the time we got to the front of the line, Lynnie and Cece were both asleep, so Ellie again got to be the only one awake to see the lights.

And the Thanksgiving Point employee was really nice to us, because our membership expired yesterday, but she still let us pay the member price.

Ellie and I were all set to go to her last Let's Play Music class of the semester, and Grandma came to play with Lynnie and Cece.  They both freaked out as I was leaving, and I could hear the screaming even after I got in the van.  Yikes.  When Ellie and I got back, Lynnie had fallen asleep on the floor in her bedroom, and Cece had fallen asleep on Grandma's shoulder.

Grinch Play

Ellie has really been looking forward to performing in the kindergartens' Grinch Play.  Her small group of 3 students got to say the line:

Then he got an idea and laughed in his throat
And made a quick Santy Claus hat and a coat

Christmas Outfits

Ellie was excited that she had the chance to wear Christmas shirts to school all week long.  Luckily, I had 3 shirts that I picked up a year or two ago on an after-Christmas clearance.  Plus she has her Christmas dress, and a costume for her Grinch Play, so she is set with outfits for the week.

Ellie had a great idea earlier in the week to set up the pop up tent in the basement.  We have done her homework and her Let's Play Music in there every day.  She has also spent time reading us stories.

For the last class of the semester, Miss Leda had the children lie down and she sprinkled "snow" on them.  Lynnie and Cece both ate it up!

Hair Style

Ellie spent about an hour, carefully styling my hair.  It was so pretty that I wore my hair to the Annual Spencer Christmas Gift Exchange Party.  Staci reminded me that Kylene and Kiera used to do that to my hair when they were little, so I had to take a picture and text them.

Hearing Aids

We are on Day 2 of trying out a hearing aid for Cece.  Because she has Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder, hearing aids may work and they may not.  Some kids with ANSD really flourish with hearing aids and some kids hate them.  So far, Cece has been tolerating it pretty well.  We are only wearing it in the house, since she quickly figured out how to pull it out of her ear and then chew on it.  She can do that in less than a second.

I was trying to get a picture of Cece in her new outfit, with her new "accessory," but she doesn't really hold still.  And that makes for blurry phone pictures when there is not enough light...

Dance Recital

We love our friend Eden, and we especially love that her mom is our dance teacher!

Dance Pictures

After the dress rehearsal for the dance recital, Ellie and Lynnie got to take pictures in their costumes.  As we were walking from the stage to the picture area, Lynnie took off the black gloves for her costume.  I helped her put them back on for the group picture, but then she pouted the entire time.  The photographer took 7 takes.  She took them off again immediately, and then she was happy for her individual picture (1 take).

A Hard Day

On Baby Signing Time Volume 1, there is a song called A Hard Day.  The animations have Alex and Leah putting band-aids all over Hopkins.  Lynnie thinks it is hilarious and it is her favorite song on that DVD.  She decided she needed to mimic Hopkins today.

End of an Era

Well, we finally did it.  We joined the "mommy team" and purchased our first mini-van.  It is awesome and I can already tell it is going to be a great fit for our family.  Greg is now driving the MDX, so I took my iPod out to put it in the van.  In the MDX, it was plugged in and hidden in the console, and it would constantly charge when the car was on.  As soon as I pulled it out and left it on the counter over night, it lost all charge and will not charge up again.  I have had this iPod since before Ellie, so it is a little sad to let it go.  Oh, well.  Life moves on!

Swedish Fish

Ellie has been doing a Christmas Around the World unit at school.  Every day, they "visit" a new country and learn about some Christmas traditions in that country.  When Tayler and I picked Ellie up today, she very excitedly told us that she had visited Swedish Fish today and learned about Lucia.

Saturday, December 6, 2014

It was fun to wake up in the morning and give the girls the souvenirs we had purchased for them at Disney World.  I had meant to wait until after Greg was home from his meetings, but as Ellie was playing on my phone, she saw the pictures of the gifts I had bought for them (I took pictures to show Tammy).  At that point, it was just time to let them play with the presents!  We got a set of little princess dolls for Cece, and the coolest Anna/Elsa dolls for Ellie and Lynnie.  If you hold the doll one way, it is Anna with her coronation dress.  If you flip the doll upside down and pull the skirt over Anna's head, it is Elsa with her signature blue gown.

Houston, Texas

I have been to 46 states.  I am only missing Alaska, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas.  When I was a teenager, I flew to New Mexico to stay with a friend for a week and had a layover in Houston.  Greg has always said that didn't count as visiting Texas because the airport is a no man's land and I never set foot on actual Texas soil.

Coming home from Orlando, we had a layover in Houston, and I again reflected on how I was so close to crossing Texas off of my list...

Fancy Pants Hotel

We stayed at a Hyatt in Orlando, and it was pretty fancy.  There were motion detected night lights under the nightstands and the vanity in the bathroom.  And there was a TV in the mirror in the bathroom.  When it was turned off, you could not tell it was there, except for a slightly darker shading in the rectangle.

Updates From Tammy

The main caregivers for the girls while Greg and I were gone are Tammy and Grandma Camp.  I was most worried about Cece, but Tammy assured me she did just fine.  And Tammy would text me update pictures like this.

Downtown Disney

I got to hang out with Greg while he had meetings in Orlando, Florida.  We walked around Downtown Disney and picked up some souvenirs for the girls.  The best part was riding the water taxi from the far end of the outdoor mall back to where we started.

Favorite Adoption Book

This is currently our favorite adoption book.  I was able to order a personalized  one last year for both Ellie and Lynnie.  I need to remember to get one for Cece for her birthday this year.
