Their New Bedroom

Ellie and Lynnie have made a new bedroom.  They love to play under Cece's crib.  Lynnie drew a picture for {M} and wanted to make sure it was in the picture.

FHE

A nice family in our ward invited us over for Family Home Evening tonight.  It was so fun to get to know them and spend a few hours together.  They have a 4 year old and 6 year old girl, and Ellie and Lynnie had instant best friends.  They are already planning their next play date.

The girls had a lot of fun making the craft Sis Middleton prepared--lambs (to go along with the lesson of missionary work and feeding the Savior's lambs).  Lynnie decided hers was a puppy, though, and not a lamb.

After Math

We had so much fun last night, with my cousin Jen and her daughter Abby spending the night.  Lynnie went to bed around 10, and Abby and Ellie stayed up til almost midnight.  Jen and I stayed up til 1:30 talking.  It is always fun to catch up, and we never have enough time!

The after math of our adventure was unexpected naps for Ellie and me.  I was snuggling Lynnie while she drank milk after church (with Cece napping in her bed).  I totally fell asleep.  Lynnie quietly sat on my lap and watched her movie.  When I woke up over an hour later, Ellie was sound asleep on the couch.

The only bad thing from our unexpected naps was that Ellie was still awake (in her bed) when I went to bed at 11:30 that night.

A Dolphin Tale 2

For our family adventure today, we decided to go to a movie.  This is only the 2nd movie the big girls have seen in a theater, and Cece's first time.  We picked "the dolphin movie" because Lu loves dolphins.  It was pouring rain when we got out, so Daddy went to get the car to pick us up.

Lynnie got a poodle balloon at Ellie's school carnival last night, and she insisted on bringing it with us to the movie.

Carrots

Cece is making strides when it comes to eating.  Today we tried carrots again, and she ate quite a few bites.  And then she wanted to feed herself, so I would load up the spoon and give it to her.  She ate a lot of bites that way.  Cece is also a fan of the puffs now.  She has had them for two days and is eating them like a champ.

Skater's Waltz

We were listening to Lynnie's Kindermusik CD in the car, and the girls loved the Skater's Waltz.  They danced their arms around and pretended to be ice skating.  Every time the song ended, Lynnie said, "AGAIN!"  We must have listened to it a dozen times.

All three girls were laughing and happy and joyous.  These are the moments when I wish I could freeze time.  It was a perfect moment.

Jungle Head

Lynnie's current favorite movie is Tarzan.  She tells us to call her Jungle Head, and she loves to climb like a monkey.

It's Official

It's official!  Ellie has graduated to the wood violin.  It was time to celebrate by unwrapping her box violin.

X-Rays

Ellie's toe is still bothering her, so I took her to the doctor today to have it checked out.  The doctor sent us to the hospital for an x-ray.  Ellie looked so little on that giant x-ray table.

Selfies

The big girls have been working hard to earn a family activity reward by obeying the first time.  Today was reward day, and we headed off to go swimming.  On the short drive from our house to the Legacy Center, Ellie took 78 selfies and played 4 games on my phone.

Aunt Jonette

Lynnie loves to play with the burp cloths.  She makes them blankies for her babies or stuffed animals, or dresses, or capes, or whatever strikes her fancy.  She likes to know which burp cloths were new for Ellie, which were new for Cece, and which ones were new for herself.

She loved finding this happy yellow one, and asked me, "who made this for me again?"  I told her Aunt Jonette, and she said, "oh, I sure love her!  Can you take a picture of me with it and send it to Aunt Jonette to tell her thank you?"

Group Lesson

We never made it to a group lesson last year, because in the fall I was still teaching my last remaining piano student Syreese, and her lesson was at the same time.  After Cece was born, we took a break from violin and from piano lessons.  This time around, we have no conflicts, and we were excited to try out group lessons.

Ellie jumped right in and was happy to follow directions.  Lynnie was a little more cautious, and spent some time observing.  Then she went and stood by Aunt Bobi and participated in the Twinkle Circle.  After a little while, the rest of the students joined the beginners.  There was a lot of impressive violin playing happening from these children!  The only problem?  Lynnie thought it was too loud, and kept on covering her ears.  Oh, well...

Snoozing

Always a sign of a good day when Lynnie falls asleep on the chair in the middle of the afternoon. We had cleaned out her jewelry box earlier in the day, and she was so excited that her special bracelet finally fits.  Aunt Jo made it for us a couple of Christmases ago, with a matching bracelet for {M}.  We picked the colors blue and yellow, since those are {M}s favorites, and Lynnie picked stars as the accent, since stars were her favorite at the time.

Good Sisters

Lynnie is really blossoming this year.  I think it is good for her to be the "big" sister for 14 hours a week.  She loves to take care of Cece and try to get baby sister laughing.  Lynnie reads her books and gives her toys and is a great helper.

Favorite Toys

Cece's favorite toys are a banana toothbrush and a little Princess Dora figurine.  She chews them a lot.

Stories

We love it when Daddy is home to read our bedtime stories.  He gives the characters the best voices.  Greg especially loves to be home, with everyone in pajamas, after another long weekend.  He did a great job with Stake Conference, and I think breathed a big sigh of relief when all of his assignments were completed.  I never realized before how much effort and planning goes in to putting on events like Stake Conference.

Mom, Take Our Picture!

Lynnie is a great shopping buddy.  She is starting to leave Puppy Elizabeth in the car -- to protect her.  But today Lu wanted her along.  She has wrapped Puppy in the rainbow blanket that {M} sent home with her from the hospital, and an outfit that Grandma Linda gave us when Ellie was a baby, that Tayler also wore when she was a baby.  We love our birth moms!

Gift Basket

Some people Greg works with gave us the biggest gift basket I have ever seen.  There were some real treasures in there!

Walking to Preschool

Lynnie told me that she wanted to walk to preschool all by herself.  Good thing we started 10 minutes before preschool began, because it took that long for her to get over there.  She walked down the driveway, and then back up.  Down the rocks, and then back up.  Had Cece and me sit on the big rock on the corner by the fence, walked up to us, and went back to the front door.  It was fun!

Cantaloupe Juice

Cece loves cantaloupe.  She used to just gum it and suck on it, but yesterday when I gave it to her, she was able to get some chunks loose, and it made me nervous.  Today I decided to try and juice the cantaloupe.  Cece drank some in her cup, and then I made some rice cereal with it, and she ate it pretty well.  An eating victory!

Puppy Has Another Owie

Poor Puppy is literally starting to fall apart at the seams.  She had another owie today, and we sewed her back up immediately.  Lynnie and I had a big talk about how Puppy probably can't be washed very often any more, which means she needs to stay home so she can stay clean.  Lynnie decided that would be OK because she would be really sad if Puppy went to live in heaven with Grandma Great and Heavenly Father.

Violin Lessons

We are excited to be starting violin lessons again!  Ellie and I have tried to practice a little in preparation, and we have forgotten a lot since our last lesson a few months ago.  I was proud of Ellie in the lesson, though, for remembering as much as she did.  Lynnie decided she wanted to start this year as well.

The Sound of Music

For Ellie's Let's Play Music class, she has been learning a version of the Do-A-Deer song from The Sound of Music.  It has put me in the mood to watch it.  This morning the girls woke up sick and we stayed home from church.  I thought The Sound of Music was church-like, so we had a movie watching party while snuggled on the couch.

This movie is so much a part of my childhood, and I still have about 95% of the movie memorized.  Back in the day, when we first got a BETA video player, we had two movies:  The Sound of Music and Rocky.  I don't ever remember watching Rocky, but we watched The Sound of Music all. the. time!

The girls loved it!  I foresee many more times watching it together in the future.

The Bean Museum

We met Lynnie's birth dad and his girlfriend at The Bean Museum this morning.  While we were there, we had to get a picture by the zebra for Cece.

Eating Breakthrough

It has been difficult to get Cece to eat anything.  My friend Melissa had a picture on Instagram of her 8 month old eating with a silicone feeder.  I have some mesh feeders that I have tried on all three girls, and they haven't been successful with any of the girls.  The next time we were at Target, I picked up a feeder and we came home to try it out.  It was an instant success.  This morning was also a success and Cece ate half a container of carrots with her feeder.

First Homework

We completed Ellie's first week of homework assignments today.  One week down, about a gazillion to go.  Can't wait!

Toy

We played in the playroom today, and Cece was fascinated by this toy.  It has a spinning thing on it that she especially loved to watch.  I tried turning the toy away from her, and she about fell over sideways trying to crane her neck around to see the spinning part.

Lynlee's First Day of Preschool

Lynnie was so excited to start preschool!  She even went without Puppy.

Cleaning the Church

It was the perfect day to volunteer our family to clean the church because Greg was off of work and could come with us.  He spent his time vacuuming the chapel and I spent my time cleaning the bathrooms.  I don't know why, but it is always so satisfying to refill the toilet paper.

Simple pleasures, really.

The girls were a dream.  Ellie found a friend to play with, and Lynnie pushed Cece around in the stroller.  Then Ellie's friend left and she took over the stroller duties.  She got Cece a bottle when Cece started fussing, and even got her to take a 5 minute nap.  Until the stroller pushing was a little too bouncy and Cece woke right back up!
