Ellie loves to hold Cece.  Ellie cannot wait for the day that they are both big enough that she can walk around while holding sister.

Growing Girl

Greg lowered Cece's mattress, and it struck me again how big she is getting!  She scoots all over her crib while she is sleeping now.  She loves to look in her mirror.

Rainbow Girls

At Cece's well child check today, Greg noticed that you could see the legs of all of the girls and the contrast.  We love their beautiful skin tones!

Court Day

This morning we went to court and finalized Cecilia's adoption.  Adrienne, our fabulous case worker who has been with us for all three adoptions, was there, along with Shirl, our attorney.

Sarah is in town for her summer visitation with her dad, so we took a cousins picture.  We are missing Amber and all of the boys!

Baby Signing Time

Now that Cece has mastered the sign for "milk" it is time to expand our repertoire and start watching Baby Signing Time.  This is the first time I put it in for her, and she was mesmerized.

Glasses Problems

Lynnie came up with this solution all by herself.  Super cute!

Thursday, July 24, 2014

These girls of ours just keep growing and maturing.  Funny how that happens.

The girls picked out backpacks today, Ellie for kindergarten and Lynnie for preschool.  Ellie wanted princesses, and then she wanted to take a picture and send it to Tayler, because the backpack had all of Tayler's favorite princesses, too.  Lynnie first picked out a cheetah and zebra backpack and wanted me to send a picture to {R}, because those are her favorites.  Then Lynnie changed her mind and went with a ladybug backpack.  Cece is slowly liking food better.  I introduced sweet potatoes today.  The first three bites were really successful, but then she wasn't so sure about it.

Someone is always happy in the bath for me, and always cries for baths with daddy.  Love the smiles and giggles and kicks!

New Home Teachers

We have loved our home teachers for the past couple of years, Brother Hendrix and Brother Wade.  It was sad to say good-bye to them, but we are excited for our fun new home teachers, Brother Meiners and Jake Meiners.  It's even more fun because Sister Meiners is my visiting teacher.

They started off our visit with a bang, bringing the girls Anna & Elsa nightgowns that Bro Meiners picked up in China.  Jake gave a great lesson, and had the girls captivated.

Cheetah Dress

{R} gave this cute dress to Cece.  Gotta love the animal print!

{R} brought some presents last night for Cece, so of course I dressed her up today in one of the outfits.  So cute!

Rice Cereal

I have been putting rice cereal in Cece's bottles for a few days now, but we saved feeding her with a spoon until tonight.  {R} was coming over for dinner, and I thought it would be fun if {R} fed her for the first time.  It was awesome, because {R} is a pro and has clearly fed lots of babies before.  She got Cece to gobble up her cereal like was no big deal!

More Sitting

This sweetie cannot get enough of sitting!  She is doing well for longer and longer stretches.

Service Scavenger Hunt

We were the lucky recipients of not one, but two, service groups!  For Mutual, the youth went around performing chores as part of a service scavenger hunt.  The first group unloaded the dishwasher, and the second group wiped down the cabinets and counters.  What a fun idea, and what a fun night to see all of these bright-faced and smiling youth!

Cece is now a pretty good sitter.  She loves it, and she can balance for quite a while.  Way to go, baby girl!

Marrying Tovin

Ellie and Lynnie like to tell me that they want to marry someone just like their Daddy when they grow up.

I'm on board with that plan.

For the past few days, Lynnie has been telling me that she wants to marry someone like Tovin.  This morning, I was part of a conversation that went something like this:

Lynnie:  I don't want to marry someone like Tovin, I want to marry the real Tovin when I grow up.

Ellie:  Lynnie, stop talking about that.  It's gross.  If you married Tobyn you would have to kiss and stuff.

Haha!  I immediately texted Kylene so that she could know how Ellie feels about kissing Tobyn ;)

Happy Anniversary

Another advantage to getting home a day earlier was feeling less stressed on our anniversary.  We celebrated 20 years today with a prosaic visit to the grocery store, a wonderful dinner at The Harvest restaurant, and shopping for a new wedding band for me.  Greg surprised me with that, since we had agreed to not get each other presents.  I let him talk me into it, though, since I lost my wedding ring years ago, and it was neat to get a new ring on our anniversary.

Happy to be Home

We had originally planned on stopping somewhere along the way and staying in a hotel again.  But around the time we would have stopped, all three girls were asleep, so we just pushed on and got home.  Greg had the fabulous idea to take a picture during our dinner and call it "Happy to be Home."

They look super happy, don't they?  Well, super cute, anyway!

The Crew

After the Men's Graduation ceremony, we took the opportunity to snap a few pictures.  Here is the crew from our fabulous week at Philmont:
Gary & Melissa Keck; Greg & Heather Spencer; Kenny & Tracy Bunnell; Frank & Kendra Schofield

Children's Parade

Wednesday night was Western Night, and the night was kicked off with a Children's Parade.  Every child was sporting a handmade costume (we made ours on Sunday afternoon).  Ellie was a unicorn and Lynnie was a mosquito.

Tuesday we only had classes before lunch, and then the rest of the day was Family Time.  We went to the Craft Center and made leather bracelets for the girls.  They loved hammering and stamping the leather.  It was a great activity.

Monday, July 7, 2014

The Philmont staff put on a great Family Home Evening for all of the participants.  There was a little program, with some things done by staffers, but most everything done by attendees.  One family had us sing The Wise Man and The Foolish Man with them.  Ellie was so cute doing the actions that I tried to get her picture.  She stopped singing and gave me some great faces instead...

Sunday Drive

Sunday was a relaxing day.  After church in the morning, we had all day for Family Time.  We spent a few hours on the Greensward, meeting new friends and relaxing.  Ellie loved taking her little sisters for a drive.

Driving to Philmont

We got up and had a leisurely morning before driving the rest of the way to the Philmont Training Center in Cimarron, New Mexico.  The girls were amazing on our 13 hour drive.  Cece especially loved playing with this toy strung across her car seat.  It kept her entertained for hours.

Swimming Pool

We headed out nice and early to start our trip to Philmont.  We stayed overnight in Alamosa and had a fun time in the hotel pool.  This was Cece's first time swimming and she loved it!  She kicked and moved her arms and had a great time.  Ellie loved kicking around in the life ring, and Lynnie was happy when she was holding on to me or Greg.

Shopping Cart

I decided to have Cece try sitting in the shopping cart.  She loved it and did great for about 5 minutes.  And then I carried her the rest of the way.

The bushes in the front of the house desparately needed a trim.  I have been putting it off, until the big girls alerted me to the fact that when the wind blows (aka every second of every day) the branches were scraping against their window and freaking them out.  It's awesome to do yardwork with a baby.  Cece did great for about an hour, laying on the blanket and playing with her toys.  And then we paused so I could bring everyone inside and feed her milk and get her down for a nap.  We went back out with the baby monitor on, and Cece did her typical 30 minute nap.  Then it was back inside to get her up and change her diaper.  Then back outside, where now the big girls were getting kind of grumbly because they were ready for lunch.  We pushed on through, with lots of help from Ellie and Hope to take the branches to the backyard pile, and it all looks great now.  Love it!

Amy's Back

Amy is back in town, so we headed to Mom's house to hang out for a few hours.  As a bonus, I put Mom to work helping me make our family banner for Philmont.  I have practically no sewing skills, and she is an expert.  She just hemmed my entire banner in no time flat -- no pins, no measuring, just folding and finger pressing.  Impressive.  Amy is awesome and entertained all of the girls while Mom was sewing (and I was entertaining her).
