Lynnie loves to wear Puppy in a wrap!  She will carry Puppy around in it for hours.

I'm having a hard time getting anything done lately but the most important thing--snuggling Cecilia!  She is often fussy, so I am either holding her to help her calm down, or enjoying the snuggles once she falls asleep.

{R} came back to Utah tonight, and we got to spend some time with her.  Cece slept the whole time, which makes for good snuggles.  Of course, after she was home and Ellie and Lynnie were asleep, Cece was wide awake and ready to play.  I had to text {R} this picture to show off her big brown eyes.

Gorgeous Weather

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today -- it got up to 57 degrees.  We took our longest walk of the year, for about 45 minutes.  Cece happily slept in the wrap.  Ellie rode her scoot bike for a while, and then ran it back to the house.  Next she rode her scooter to our neighbor's driveway, before taking it back to our house, and then running to catch up to Lynnie, Cece, and I.  For the rest of the time, the big girls walked and collected sticks and grass.   They started with coats, and then Cece became the coat carrier.  It got a little windy at the end, so I was glad to have more layers of protection on her face.

Totally Cool

I love this outfit for Cece, because {R} is totally cool!

This also reminds me of my favorite story with {R}s sister {B}.  The Saturday before our case worker called us to say that {R} wanted to meet with us, Greg & I were at an adoption conference.  We walked in to a class behind some noticeably "cool" couples.  I took heart that there were birth moms who liked all types of adoptive couples, cool people and not cool normal people.  When I tried to explain myself to Greg, he thought I was putting us down.  I wasn't -- and I tried to say it like this:  there are "cool" people, like {B} and Darci, and then there are "normal" people like us.  I'm just glad that Tayler and {M} liked us "normal" people!

It's become a running joke with me and {B}, about how cool she is!

Lynnie wanted to swim in the hot tub, but the day got away from us and we ran out of time.  Our compromise was to have her swim in the "big tub."  She loved wearing her swimsuit and her goggles.

Mom, Look At My Baby!

Puppy is Lynnie's baby.  She carries it around and talks to it exactly the way I talk to Cece.  It is adorable.

Tammy texted me at 11:30, wanting to know if the girls and I could meet her and Greg for lunch.  Cece had had a fussy morning, and I had finally gotten her settled and asleep and was hopping in the shower.  We arranged to meet at 1, and we got excited for an outing!  Ellie and Lynnie sat by Greg, and Lynnie asked me to take her picture with Daddy.

"Peered" Ears

Ellie's friend Alanna has pierced ears, and Ellie is fascinated by her earrings.  Ellie likes to pretend that she also has "peered" ears, and she clips hair bows to her ears for her own earrings.

Church Debut

Cecilia made her church debut at the adult session of Stake Conference.  Julie got the honor of holding her, and after feeding her right at the beginning, Cece slept for the entire time.  Julie said it was a slice of heaven!  My mom was nice and stayed with Ellie and Lynnie, since the youth 12 and up were invited to attend Stake Conference as well.

Sometimes It's Rough... wait just one more minute for milk because you are getting your diaper changed!

Preschool Day

We have gotten into a rhythm on Ellie's preschool days.  She loves to walk independently to school--and it is right next door.  I will say goodbye at the front door, and then go to Cece's room to watch her walk in front of the house.  She will always stop and wait for me to open the window and yell something to her (like "have a great day" or "I love you").  Then Greg will hop up on the bathtub and watch her walk up Miss Traci's driveway.  She will always stop and wait for him to open his window and yell something to her (usually "I love you").

This morning, while it was still hazy outside, and before the sun rose, Ellie wanted it to be lighter in the family room.  She very carefully pulled up all of the blinds in the family room and kitchen.  And then plunked down to build her Legos.  A few minutes later, and beautiful sunlight was streaming through all of the windows.

Mom, Can I Hold Cec?

Lynnie has come up with the special name of "Cecilia Cec Pink Zebra Renae" for the baby.  She loves to call her Cec (pronounced like "cease").   And she drags it out, so it sounds like CEEE-eeese.

Sunday, February 9, 2014

Aunt Chris crocheted this great purple blanket for Lynnie when she was a baby, and it got packed away with all of the baby blankets.  When we pulled everything out for Cece, Lynnie immediately grabbed the blanket and said, "can I have this one?"  She was so excited when I said it was already hers.  It has gone with us everywhere since!  Lynnie loves to hide under it, since she can see through the little holes.

It went with us to my mom's house for Sunday dinner, and when I told my mom the story, she said I should take a picture, put it on Facebook, and tag Aunt Chris.  Done!  (And putting it on the blog is an extra bonus.)

Dinosaur Museum

I knew that Lynnie had accepted Cece into the family when Lynnie started asking to go to the museum with Daddy and Ellie and Mommy and Baby and {A} and {K}.  We met Lynnie's birth dad and his girlfriend for a fun couple of hours in the afternoon.  It was Cece's first outing to the museum, and she slept right through it!

The girls were excited to get a letter in the mail, all the way from Kazakhstan.  It was funny to see how someone had copied Robyn's messy stylistic handwriting from the postcard onto the envelope.  And then the envelope was mailed to us.

Birthday Party #3

Tonight was Book Club, and I volunteered to have it at my house.  I successfully got Ellie and Lynnie asleep before 7:20, and they slept right through the festivities.  The BCLs threw an impromptu birthday party, complete with this stunning cake that Tiff made.

First Can of Formula

Cece has successfully used up her first can of Costco formula.  She's growing!

Good Advice

We have been loving the bassinet that Kari gifted to us after her son outgrew it.  Cece sleeps on a slight incline, and it makes me sleep easier knowing that she can't choke.  But Carrie gave me very good advice yesterday.  She said her 5 month old has that same bassinet and loves it.  Loves it so much that she refuses to sleep anywhere else.  And she has outgrown it.

So, today, Cece took her first nap in her crib.  I've gotta get her used to sleeping there now, while she is still adaptable.

Meeting A New Friend

I have blog-stalked K, a fellow adoption blogger at Letters To You for years (and vice versa--she has blog-stalked me).  She reached out last week and said, "how about we actually meet in person?"

Sign me up!  I was so excited :)

Not only did we have a great lunch, where it felt like catching up with an old friend (and not one I have never seen before in real life), but K brought amazing hand-crafted presents for the girls.  A great outing!

Practicing Her Grip

While we were cleaning up the kitchen, we tried Cecilia out in the bouncer.  And we had to see if she wanted to grip the pull toy.

It lasted about as long as it took to take the pictures!

Birthday Dinner

We celebrated my birthday in style by having 5 couples over for dinner.  Greg made Cafe Rio-type pork salads, and we did most of the prep work late Friday night.  It made Saturday much less stressful!  It was a great dinner, with fabulous company.  We laughed so hard!
