Silly Daddy

Lynnie Lu kept on asking Greg to let her stand on his hair.

Daddy was happy to oblige!

Cousins Are Important

After shopping all morning for Black Friday with the BCLs, I traded off with Greg (who had a basketball game), picked up the girls, and headed to Grandma's house to hang out with Kyle and Jonette et al.

Ellie idolizes and adores Kylene.  She wants to do everything Ky does.  She talks about how they are twins and they like all of the same things.  Ky is so sweet and attentive and spends a lot of time with Ellie when we are all together.

Makes my mother heart melt to see my "eldest" daughter and my eldest daughter together.

Especially when they take selfies like this and Ky texts them to me!

Practice Makes Perfect

After separating almost three dozen egg yolks in the past two days, you would think I would be better at it than this!
My cooking tasks that involved egg yolks were 4 types of custard ice cream and banana cream pie.

Uncle Kyle!

Kyle and Jonette and their family are in town for Thanksgiving.  Yeah!  We got to spend a few hours with them today.  Ellie was fascinated by Macy, and thought it was hilarious when Macy would lick her fingers.

Pop Explosion

We have had some 12 packs of soda stored on top of the upper cabinets in our laundry room for a while.  But we don't drink soda very much, and so the rotation has kind of ... not happened.  Ellie wanted some of the "raspberry juice" so I got a chair to pull some down for her.

And discovered a huge mess.

Leaking cans all over the place.  The tops on many of the cans had split right open.

Apparently, you should not store soda on top of a cabinet for 5+ years {the dates were 2008).  Now you know!

Three Billy Goats Gruff

One of the puppet shows at Story Time last week was the Three Billy Goats Gruff.  Lynnie has been obsessed with the story ever since!  Luckily, we have a version of it, and we have read it every day.  Lynnie likes to say, "who's that clip-clopping over my bridge?" and "I'm going to gobble you up!"

Ellie likes to pretend that she's scared of the troll.

It's a win-win, really.

12th Article of Faith

Ellie got to say the 12th Article of Faith in Primary today.  Greg got to help her.  And I got to substitute on the piano during Senior Primary.  Plus, it was Bryson's missionary talk in Sacrament Meeting.  All of this equals a wonderful day at church!

Muscles

Mom, look at Kiki's muscles!  She's really strong, isn't she?

Throwback (Even Though It Isn't Thursday)

I am working on a photo organization project, and I realized I have not printed any pictures since December 1.  Last year.

The good thing about it is that it is really fun to review all of my pictures for the year and discover which ones are print worthy.

I found this gem:

Remember the snow we had last winter?  I love remembering how helpful Ellie was,and how much both girls always loved being out in the snow.  They wore their way-too-big-boots (that they will be able to wear again this year) and got all bundled up, and it was wonderful!

Story Time

Story Time is better when friends meet us there!  We loved seeing Bryn and Annie.  And the girls all sat on the floor for about 5 minutes before Story Time started, and then they all sat on our laps.  It was perfect.
Do you see Lynnie hiding?

The Beast

Lynnie very meticulously put these clips on her fingers, then turned around and said, "Grrrr!  Surprise!  I'm a beast!"

{like the beast from Beauty & the Beast}

Nap = Happy Girl

Tammy hung out with us last night for dinner and football, and Ellie didn't go to bed til 10:30.  That's really late for her.  She was up extra early this morning but was fine and happy all day.

Until it was time to go to dance class.  Then she told me that she was tired and cranky and needed a nap.  She was right!  She fell asleep about 2 minutes into our car ride and got, basically, a 5 minute nap.  She woke up as I was carrying her in, and she was recharged for class.  Success!

Nail Polish

Lynnie talked me into letting her paint her own nails today.  For the first time.  And she did awesome!  She didn't spill any and she was very careful.

Favorite Part of Your Day?

I asked Lynlee at dinner what her favorite part of the day had been.  She said, "making cookies with Nick!"

The girls and I took a treat and some pictures over to the Morrows to say thanks for all of their help this weekend.  They played with the girls yesterday morning while Greg and I had a meeting, and then played with the girls again this morning while I played a duet with Syreese in her Sacrament Meeting.  While we were at the Morrows after church, Nick scooped up Lynnie and held her while she "helped" him make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.

Snow!

At some point this fall I must have told Lynnie that snow wouldn't come til after her birthday, because she woke up on her birthday expecting to see snow.  She has been anxiously awaiting it, and she was so excited that there was snow this morning!  She had to touch it right away.

Art By Ellie

I love all of the art Ellie creates.  She spends time every day coloring, cutting, gluing, and creating.

Big Dress

Gwen was so excited to show us her "big dress."  It is pretty impressive!

Yee-Haw!

Lynlee's favorite nightgown has Rapunzel on it, so she insists that we call her Rapunzel now.  And of course, she was riding Max.

Asleep. And Not Asleep.

With our lingering sickness, we have all been going to bed early.  Ellie fell asleep on the couch before 6:30.  But Lynnie had had a nap earlier in the day, and she didn't go to sleep until after 10.

My favorite thing about this picture is that you can see the girls' new nightgowns.  We haven't been out much lately, and they have lived in these nightgowns.  Super cute!

Picture From Hailey

Hailey texted all sorts of good pictures today that she took last Saturday with Ellie & Lynnie.  This is my favorite!

Primary Program

We are in the midst of colds around here, but we gathered our strength and went to Sacrament Meeting.  It was Ellie's very first time to participate in the the Children's Sacrament Meeting Presentation {a.k.a. the Primary Program} and I was heartbroken to think that she would miss it.

President had arranged to come, and lucky Ellie sat on his lap the whole time.

Lynlee fell asleep about 5 minutes into the meeting and slept for an hour.

I cried like a baby.  I was so touched by the children--by their brightness and earnestness and joy.  They radiated light and goodness.

Ellie especially was darling.  She had missed the practice on Saturday morning because she was sick, but it didn't matter.  She sang her heart out for each song and did great.  It was worked out ahead of time with Sister Meiners for what to do when it was her turn to talk.  Ellie left Daddy's side, walked to her class to deliver her line, and then went right back to Daddy.  Her class was sitting on the 2nd row on the floor, and her teacher passed the microphone to each child.

My favorite part was during the closing song.  Ellie started waving at the Morrows, and kind of danced around and leaned back and forth until she made sure that every single Morrow had seen her waving.

After we got home, Ellie immediately changed into her nightgown and lined up all of her babies on the couch.  She has named each one.
Swan Lake, The Princess & The Pauper, Tangled, Ariel, Aurora, Cinderella, and {holding} Snow White

United For Adoption

Greg and I left the girls in the very capable hands of Hailey and attended the First Annual United For Adoption Conference.  Highlights of the day were definitely listening to the Birth Mom Panel and talking with my favorite adoption friends.

We loved talking with Kristen Pack, who did our adoption video.  And I laugh every time I see these folders.  The beautiful girl in the bottom left picture used to be Bobi's babysitter when Adam and Lyssa were little.

Happy birthday, big girl!

Double Ear Infection

This morning Ellie was feeling a little better and she didn't seem hot, so I didn't give her any ibuprofen.  About noon, she told me that her ear really hurt.  I immediately called her doctor and got an appointment for 1:30.

And, yep, she has a double ear infection.

The only other time she has had an ear infection was two years ago, right around Halloween.  I remember because we left Todd and Rachel's annual pumpkin carving party early to take her to the instacare.

Ellie is now dosed up on ibuprofen and had her first dose of antibiotics and is feeling pretty good.  She is pretending to be a librarian and check out books to Lynnie.

Choir Practice

One of the benefits of being the choir accompanist for the ward choir is getting to have choir practice in my basement.  Nice short commute that way!  The nice choir members were pretending to be singing for this action shot.  And Sister Gooch & Brother Erickson somehow managed to miss the photo.

Train Track

Lu set up this fabulous train track and had fun launching the toy cars and trains off the edge.  Pretty awesome!

I Don't Want the Music!

We quickly ran to the post office today, and sweet Lynnie Lu was tired.  She did not want to listen to the music, but Ellie and I did want to listen.  As a compromise, the music got left on and Lynnie covered her ears.

And promptly fell asleep.

Get Ellie!

There is nothing like offering to bring the Morrows a treat and getting invited to stay for dinner!  While we were there, the girls had so much fun playing with Bryson.  Nick was a little jealous, because he has kind of been supplanted by his big brother.  Bryson's girlfriend has some foot and knee injuries and uses crutches.  Bryson was playing around on the crutches while pretending to "get" the girls.   The best was when Lynnie said, "Bryson, get Ellie!"

Ensemble Festival

I have one piano student remaining, because I cannot let her go!  Syreese is one of my favorite people on earth, and I get excited to see her every week.  Today we played in the Ensemble Festival.  I was proud of Syreese for pulling it together in about a month, and she scored Honors.

Nice job, Syreese!

Giggles

So many giggles at lunch today!  Ellie laid back on her chair, and said, "where is my foot?"  Then she stuck her little toes on the top of the chair, Lynlee attacked the toes, and they both giggled.

P.S.  Check out the Halloween haul on the kitchen table.  Pretty impressive for only making it one block while trick-or-treating.
