Someone Had a Rough Night

Lynlee was a little hot yesterday around dinnertime, so after her bath I gave her some Children's Advil and got her to sleep at 6:30.  She slept through choir practice in the basement and 5 darling girls running around the upstairs (that girl is an amazing sleeper).

She did not sleep through Ellie pushing on her and talking in a normally volumed voice (when I put Ellie to bed at 8:30).

Then Lynnie was up until almost 1, crying for at least 2 hours.  She was so tired and so disoriented from being woken up, and she could not get herself comfortable.  I finally got Ellie to sleep around 10, and had Lynlee almost asleep when Greg got home at 10:15.  Whispering to Daddy got Lynnie fully awake again...

After finally--FINALLY--getting Lu to bed, I sighed in relief and thought perhaps she would sleep in since she was up so late.

We were up 3 more times in the middle of the night, going potty and/or drinking milk, until finally she decided she was awake for real around 6 a.m.  Daddy jumped in the fray and dealt with another solid hour of crying.

Fun times.

Super fun times.

Totally worth it to be her parents.

Anyhoo, this long story leads to this fabulous picture:
Now she will be ready to go trick-or-treating in a couple of hours!

#1 Helper

Ellie is my #1 helper.  She loves to do whatever I am doing, and she is pretty competent at most tasks.  Today we spent a couple of hours and cleaned the basement.  Well, I took a couple of hours, and the girls helped some and played a lot.  Which is as it should be.

Ellie mopped all of the tile by herself, in the bathrooms and the kitchenette.

And yes, that is a church pew.  We got that when we lived in Bozeman and a remodel was done on the Institute.  Greg's dad was the Institute Director and hooked us up.  It used to be the best garage bench, but there is not room in the garage in our current house.  So now it sits in the basement, waiting for the day when Greg gets to build his dream shop in the backyard.

Ding Bell!

Ellie and Lynnie love to ring the door bell.  They both call it the "ding bell."

Turtle Shirt From Thailand

Aunt Robyn brought this cute outfit to Ellie, all the way from Bangkok, Thailand.  She had one for Lynlee and Gwen also, and was going to wait until Christmas, but thought they might be too small by then.  It's a good thing she gave them to us already, because it fits just right!

Ellie tried her outfit on last night at Grandma Great's birthday party, and was very excited to wear it to preschool this morning.  She loves to pose for pictures!

Walking To Church

We were so excited to walk to our new church!  It is a couple of blocks away, and the weather was perfect.  We even got to walk home with Mom-Julie.  That was a treat!

Adoption Walk With Me

So much fun to celebrate adoption at the Adoption Walk With Me annual event.  Orange You Glad For Adoption?  We sure are!

New Glasses

Lynnie's new glasses came in, and she was very excited!  Gwen was hanging out with us today, and she was fascinated by the bubbles.

And Ellie did not get glasses-she is wearing Lynnie's old glasses with the lenses popped out.

My #1 helper loves to bring groceries in from the car.  Today she tried out her big muscles and pulled the milk out of the car.

The double pack from Costco.

2 gallons in 1 cardboard box.

She may or may not have dropped said box because it is so heavy.

Princess Dresses

Alanna and Eliana dressed up like princesses.  So beautiful.

Ellie loves having a friend living right next door and another friend living right across the street.  Sure makes it easy to play.  All day, every day.

Dancing Slippers

It is time to retire Lynlee's Dancing Slippers.  She has practically lived in these shoes since she discovered that they fit.  They were a gift from Aunt Robyn last Christmas, but were too big.

And now they are too small.

And starting to fall apart.

And they stink.

A lot.

No matter how much I spray them with Febreze.

And so, we bid them a fond farewell.

And I slipped them in the trash can when Lynlee wasn't looking.

Lynnie had a great idea to go have a picnic at the Wobbly Park.  This fun park has lots of bridge-type things that are--you guessed it--wobbly.  When Ellie got home from preschool, we told her the plan and she immediately started packing for the picnic.

She completely cleaned out the dish drawer and practically cleaned out the pantry before she was ready to go.

Ellie's Art

Ellie loves to do art, and she is getting better and more creative.  The pile just keeps on growing, of the ones that are good enough to keep, and I knew I needed to do something about it.  I took pictures of all of her best projects, she picked out 5 to keep in physical format as well, and we recycled the rest.

This is one of my favorites.  She painted it for me one night when I was at a meeting.  She told me she made all daisies, since daisies are my favorite flower.

Mom, Take A Picture of Us!

How many posts can I have this year with this title?  I will keep doing it as long as Lynnie keeps asking for her picture taken!

Lynnie has named her dolphins.  The smallest one is Heart, the middle-sized one is Stripes, and this giant one is Nail Polish.

Lynnie is wearing a pipe cleaner necklace with sparkly beads on it that she made this morning.  In blue and purple, of course.

The Sweet Tooth Fairy

One of our random brushes with greatness is that the owner/founder of The Sweet Tooth Fairy and her husband are Lynlee's nursery leaders.  But we have never set foot in a Sweet Tooth Fairy store...until now.

As part of our date night, Greg and I got cupcakes for dessert.  They were delicious!

Silly Face

Today was violin lesson #2.  Ellie was awesome and paid attention.  The three things we practiced she proudly showed off to Grandma.  Lynlee was not interested today, so she ran around the basement with her puppy.  We will try again with her next time.

Lynlee and I do a Mom & Me Kindermusik class every Wednesday while Ellie is at preschool, and then Ellie gets dropped off at her Kindermusik class on Wednesday afternoons.  Lynlee and I (and the other moms) join the class for the last 5 minutes, and the children show us what they did that day.  Lynnie was so excited that today Miss Leda pulled out the parachute while we were there.  So many giggles!

This dance outfit caused a lot of drama at our house.  45 minutes of crying, and pouting all the way through dance class.

All because Ellie's dance tights were dirty, so I had her put on leggings.

And they are not tights.

And that was just not right.

After class, we were talking with our friend Eden.  I said to Ellie, "see, Eden is wearing leggings also."  Ellie said, "OH!" and was happy for the rest of the day.

Haircut Day

It was time for hair cuts again.  Lynlee told me she wanted her hair to be long, so she just got a trim.  Ellie told me she wanted her hair to be cut short like Daddy's hair.  She said her hair on her neck makes her hot.  We compromised by having her hair cut short like her friends Annie and Hannah.

Both cuts turned out super cute!

Monthly Dinner at Grandma Camp's House

We had another enjoyable dinner at Grandma's house.  Ellie wore her dance clothes and gave us a show after dinner.  She was hilarious, and danced really well (Miss Kristin is a fantastic teacher!).  About halfway through her dance, Lyssa started to tell me something, and Ellie stopped and shushed her.  It was so funny that we all burst out laughing.  Laughing so hard that Uncle Brian snorted, which made us all laugh harder--and had Lyssa snorting on purpose.

Good times.

Vanilla Bean

On our family date night last night, we bought an ice cream maker.  Perusing the recipe book that was included made our mouths water, and sent Greg and the girls to the store to get some fancy ingredients we have never bought before (e.g., mascarpone cheese and vanilla beans).

Luckily, I have watched enough episodes of Chopped and The Pioneer Woman Cooks to know exactly how to split open the vanilla bean and scrape out the caviar.

And the pistachio ice cream we made with it was heavenly.

Birthday Pedicure

It was a great day--and one of my favorite birthday traditions.  For my mom's birthday, we got pedicures and went out to lunch.

Lynlee:  Look, Mom, there's a dolphin on that truck!

and I was stopped at  the light while taking this picture

Waking Up

I went to get Ellie this morning, and she immediately rolled over, stretched, sighed, and said, "Oh, I'm really trying to wake up, but I'm just dreaming about my birth mom!"

Box Violin

We had a lot of fun creating the girls' fake box violins for their violin lessons.  Ellie picked princess wrapping paper and pink duct tape, and Lynlee picked purple wrapping paper and purple duct tape.

Ellie is not pictured because she had already stripped down.  She always tells me that she is hot and just runs around the house in her underwear.

General Conference, Day 2

Another wonderful day spent watching General Conference.  Many more favorite quotes.  Here is one of them:

I Love General Conference

I love General Conference.  I look forward to this weekend for six months.  It is wonderful to listen to our leaders, from the comfort of my own family room, with Greg sitting right next to me.

Heaven on earth!

One of my favorite quotes from today:

And a happy birthday to my mom!

Sister Love

In the check-out line at Costco, Lynlee leaned over and gave Ellie a snuggle.  Ellie put her arm around Sister and said, "will you take a picture and send it to Daddy?"

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Lynlee likes to play with the musical instruments a lot, and I love to hear the music she is making!  She also likes to dump out all of the instruments and sit in the middle of them.  She got creative today and climbed in the bucket.  It was super fun until she fell over backwards and bonked her head.

Picking Ellie up from preschool is always fun.  She just wants to keep playing with Hope!

Jonette texted me to see if I had any pictures of Kiera at a piano recital or playing the piano, and I had fun looking through old pictures.  I found this treasure from a piano recital.  After posting it on Facebook, the consensus is that it is probably from spring 2006.  I thought I was better about dating pictures back then, but my record keeping was not as stellar as I thought.
In this group, 4 are nieces and nephews, and 10 more are my friends on Facebook or Instagram.  It is so fun to see these wonderful people turn into amazing adults!

Back row: Karleigh Ferre, Sara Mackintosh, Jacob Andes, Clayton Spencer, Kiera Spencer, Kylene Spencer, Brayden Spencer, Nani Ah Quin, Kiko Ah Quin, Shanelle Smith, and Shanelle's friend that came and played a duet with her

Middle Row:  Kelsy Mackintosh, Myley Mackintosh, BayLee Pulham, Carlin Walter, Zack Bailey, Spencer Iverson, and McKinzie Bailey

Front Row:  Wayce Pulham, Anga Ah Quin
