Tire Rotation

Lynlee and I dropped Ellie off at preschool and headed to the tire store to get the tires rotated.  Lynlee was content to watch an episode of WordWorld,  complete with headphones.

Plant

I don't even know what kind of plant this is.  I inherited it from Bobi or Robyn (or both?) when I was a teenager and they both moved out.  I moved into their old room, and the plant was in there.  It even survived when I went to Ricks as a freshman, and the blinds were closed in my bedroom, the door was shut, and no one went in there for months.

I have never been able to keep another houseplant alive, but this one survives.  Even through lack of water and fertilizer, and bad "haircuts".

20+ years and going strong!

A Day Off

Greg was a stellar husband and gave me the afternoon off.  I leisurely wandered around Kohl's & the music store, and read two books.  The best part is that the girls loved going on a Date With Daddy.  They visited Paul and his family, took Kyralyn with them to Costco, did some shopping, went to the car wash, and visited Grandpa and Grandma.
loved this picture update from Greg

Raspberries

Lynlee loves raspberries.  She loves to go outside and pick them and eat them.  This time she brought out some plates and made raspberry cakes for her birthday party.

I love asking Lynnie right now how old she is.  She will say "two" while holding up two fingers close together--like a sign language U.  Ask her when her birthday is, and she will say, "Tolember Afe" {November Eighth}.

Weeder

We all headed out to the backyard, because Lynlee wanted to pick & eat raspberries.  While Lu & I were doing that, Ellie had a great idea.  She ran back inside to get gloves and a garbage bag and then started weeding.  She let me help her after all the raspberries were picked.

Scat Cat

The girls have a love/hate relationship with our neighbor's cat.  Usually they love it and want to pretend to feed it grass or leaves.  But sometimes it freaks Lynlee out and she will yell, "Scat cat!" and run inside.  The cat likes to sleep under our green bush, and it always hunkers down on our porch during a windstorm.

Smart, because the garage wall makes a good windbreak.

Snuggles

We have a fairly fluid bedtime routine.  When Greg is home, he likes to snuggle Ellie til she falls asleep.  When he is gone, we read stories & scriptures, have a snack, brush teeth, and get in bed.  I will check on her every 3 minutes until she falls asleep.  Well, Ellie asks for me to come every 3 minutes and since she doesn't know how to tell time yet, I will come every 10 minutes or so.

Tonight Ellie had a hard time going to sleep.  She finally decided she wanted to sleep in the baby's room, and after checking on her twice I thought she was asleep.  About an hour later, she came wandering out saying that the wind woke her up.  We snuggled and she was asleep in less than 2 minutes.

I didn't mind.

I love the snuggles.

Celery

We tried an experiment and grew celery this year (for Lynlee).  I wasn't sure if it was totally ripe yet, so we picked some to try.  It was pretty bitter, so we will give it a while longer.

We Love Our "Big Sister"

Ellie has dubbed Hailey her big sister, and it is awesome.  We sure love Hailey!

The Dentist

The girls did awesome today at the dentist.  I was a little worried about Lynnie, but she was patient and did exactly what was asked of her.  Ellie was super talkative and had everyone laughing and talking with her.  It was a great experience, especially since nobody had any cavities.

Mom, Take A Picture of Us!

Seriously love this picture-taking kick that Lulu is on!

FHE with the Morrows

We loved being invited to Family Home Evening at the Morrows house.  She made an amazing banana pudding and we had a great lesson on the Creation.

The girls love to go up in the loft and entertain us down below.  Lynnie said, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!"

Stories of Home

Ellie insists that Little Lamb is kept near to Daddy's bed.  That way, Daddy and Little Lamb can snuggle at night so that Daddy will not miss Ellie too much.

Stories of Home

Ah, the laundry room.  The repository of all the things that I cannot figure out what to do with.

And, of course, laundry things.

It's a crowded little room.

Stories of Home

When we were shopping on Black Friday a year or two ago, Kelly found this board for me, and it has been great.  It organizes all of the girls bows and clips and makes it easy to get their hair done.  Lynnie likes to pick her own clips now, and usually wants 3-6 at a time.  Ellie also picks her own, and hers only last an hour in her hair (if I'm lucky).

Stories of Home

Ellie has to have a few things in order to sleep:  Lambie & Blankie to snuggle, her Hello Kitty blanket that Grandma Linda gave her and a green turtle blanket to sleep under, a drink, and her turtle night light.  If any one of these things is not in her bed, neither is Ellie!

Stories of Home

The hallway to the bedrooms has been dubbed "the picture gallery."

I created these collages when Ellie was a baby, and then updated them when Lynnie was about 6 months old.  As they get older, I get less motivated to update them again, because I love their baby pictures!

Stories of Home

This poor ottoman has seen better days.  We have loved its functionality (it is on wheels and moves easily around the room) and its size.  A small rubbed part (probably from my heels resting on it all of these years) has turned into a rip that gets bigger and bigger.  And the cording has completely ripped out.

Stories of Home

Lynnie loves to eat dirt play outside.  She will say, "leave the door a little bit closed."

So I crack the door, she goes in the backyard and plays for a while, and then comes back in and closes the door.  Being outside is her favorite thing to do.

Stories of Home

These beautiful built-ins are in our family room, and get used every day.  I love having the computer in the middle of the house, easily accessible.  The chair is a hand-me-down from somewhere.  Maybe from when Ultra Steam was housed in a bedroom in our house?  Our friend Jeff Foy built the cabinets for us when Ellie was a baby.

Stories of Home

We love books around here.  And our bookshelves are overflowing.  I try not to buy books as much any more, as there is really no place to house them.  And I only keep books that I know will be reread--otherwise I donate them to the library.

Stories of Home

About two years ago, I wrote up a quick note and stuck it on the sound system for Hailey.  It is a little confusing to remember all of the settings when you don't use it all of the time, and Hailey needed to know for when she was babysitting.

That intrepid sticky note is still there.

Stories of Home

I got this idea from Becky Higgins.

Now that the girls share a room, we have consolidated their decorations.  Lynnie loves dolphins, and Ellie loves turtles.  These animals were picked by their birth moms.

Three Happy Girls

We were so happy to play with Denver today!  She is a great cousin, and Ellie and Lynnie play well with her.  I think it will only get better as they all get older.

P.S.  Ellie was in her "pajamas" and she has her sleep mask on her forehead.  Taylor, our babysitter, always brings prizes for the girls when she babysits.  Ellie picked this mask a couple of weeks ago, and now she will not go to bed without it.  And she won't take a nap in the car (too bright) or close her eyes during snuggles after her bath (too bright).

Today's Harvest

Ellie is an awesome helper!  She diligently worked next to me to pick raspberries and tomatoes.  Lynlee helped a little as well, but she got distracted by eating the raspberries and cherry tomatoes.  I'll take that!

Sweet Sisters

I got out of the shower to see the girls all snuggled up together, watching a show on my phone.

So sweet.

Adoption Video

I adore the adoption video created for us by  Kristen at Shadetree Photography.  We had so much fun shooting the video, and it is even more fun to see the final product.  It turned out so much better than I ever dreamed it could!

If you want to hire Roots & Wings PhotoFusion to do this for you, please email info@shadetreestudios.net or call (801)787-6741.

This is a screen shot from Kristen's Facebook page where she announced the video.

I am also extremely grateful to all of my friends who shared the video on Facebook.  It is amazing how many people have seen it!
