We met Davis, Elizabeth and Callie at Story Time today.  It's our favorite session--puppet shows!

I Want To Try That

Lynnie loves to watch Ellie's gymnastics class.  Today she told me numerous times, "I want to try that."  Then she would do whatever Miss Traci was showing to the big girls.

I laid down on the couch after church on Sunday and had a little nap.  The girls entertained themselves well.  When I woke up, I found approximately 300 pictures on my phone.  My favorite is this selfie by Ellie.  When I asked her how she took it, she showed me that she propped the phone up on the wall and pushed the button with her toe.

Those are some serious skills.

I am working on my photo book for Lynlee's first year now, and I am in love reviewing all of the pictures of her as a baby.

Ellie's first year pictures were familiar to me, and it makes me realize how often that year I looked at her pictures.  It was a lot.

Then Lynlee came and life got busier, and I don't think I've looked at Lynlee's baby pictures since I first blogged about them.

I melt every time I find a gem like this one.

New Friend

We played at the park for an hour today on our way home from Walmart, and stayed until Lynnie announced she had to go potty.  Some other children were there, too, and I overheard this conversation:

"Hi, who are you?"
"I'm Taylor."
"I'm Eliana Caitlin Spencer.  Want to be friends?"

Their friendship lasted about 3 minutes, and then this little girl was called by her mom to leave and she scampered off.  Then Ellie asked me if she could play at Taylor's house tomorrow.

So sweet.

Adoption Presentation

I got to go and talk to a couple of 8th grade classes today about adoption.  I was paired with an amazing birth mom who placed her baby 7 years ago.  It was so fun to talk about how "adoption is an option" if faced with an unplanned pregnancy.  The kids were good about repeating that slogan!

I was given the slides to present, so that made it easy.  And it was fun to be in a classroom again.
I don't know why this picture is turned--I have resaved and reuploaded it 3 times.  Oh, well!

Early to Bed

Lu had kind of a rough bedtime routine.  She didn't want to go potty, and cried all the way through taking off her clothes, her bath, and getting dressed in her pajamas.  Ellie was in my shower through all of this.  I laid Lu down, gave her milk, and went to check on Ellie.  I came back a minute later and found Lu sound asleep.

Lynlee has woken up dry 4 out of the last 6 nights. As we like to say around here, TRIUMPH!!!!

Monday, April 22, 2013

I wanted to move all of the plastic plates, bowls, and cups down to Ellie's level.  Most of the cups were low already, and Ellie loves to get herself and Lynnie a cup.

The girls and I started the reorganization, and it turned into a big project.  Cleaning out one drawer translated into cleaning half a dozen other cabinets and drawers.  It feels good and fresh to have it all done.

Plus, Ellie is really proud of how hard she worked.  She organized the drawer all by herself.

Why, oh why, do they love to drink bath water?

Saturday, April 20, 2013

I have always been an indifferent shaver, mostly because I am completely blind in the shower and it's total guesswork as to the coverage I am getting.  I end up going over the same areas multiple times to make sure I got everything, and it can sometimes leave my skin irritated.

I am also a shopper that likes to feel like I'm getting a good deal.  The last time I went to get refill blades, I found some that were slightly less expensive.

But I misread the package.  There were only 2 refill cartridges, instead of 3, so they were more expensive.

But I don't care.

The razor blade has a built-in conditioner-thingie so I don't need soap or shaving gel anymore.

And my skin doesn't get irritated, no matter how many times I go over the same area.

Do I sound like a commercial?  I don't even care, because I love this razor so much.

More Company

We are so excited that Rod, Jayme, Jasmine, and Byron are coming to stay for a week or 10 days (they are not sure yet).  The girls were excellent helpers getting the basement ready for our guests.  And Ellie took fabulous picture during our milk break.

Wood Badge

Greg headed off this morning to Wood Badge, a training program for adult Scout leaders.  He is super excited about it.

No, really, he is excited.

And he was excited for me to take a picture of him in his official Scout uniform.

But he looks so cute, I just couldn't help myself!

Playing the 'Tard'

Kiki (that Ellie always calls Pinky) from The Fresh Beat Band plays the guitar.  Lynnie likes to pretend to be her sometimes.  She calls it playing the 'tard.'

At music class today, Miss Leda pulled out her guitar and the children took turns strumming it.  Lynnie was the only one who did it without a mom helping.  She was so excited!

The Car Wash Mountains

Ellie and Lynlee have learned the names of the mountain ranges around us. They are very good at saying "Lake Mountains" and "Oquirrh Mountains."

The cuteness comes when they are identifying the Wasatch Mountains.  Ellie calls them the "Wash Mountains" and Lynlee calls them the "Car Wash Mountains."

Playing the Pedal

Monthly family dinner, this time hosted at Bobi's house.  Lu was so intent on trying to play the pedal as she was playing her song.

Saturday, April 13, 2013

Ellie is starting to be better about trying new foods.  She really likes meat--pork, steak, meatballs--and so she was excited to try jerky.  I told her it was steak, and she ate a couple of pieces.  Success!

I loaded the girls up around 4:15 to go visit one of our favorite people in Provo.

Getting in the car after 4 = automatic sleep!

Thursday, April 11, 2013

Ellie proudly showed me that she wrote 'mom' and 'dad' for the first time.  She knows how to type these words, as well as Eliana and Lynlee, and often texts them to Greg.  But this is the first time she tried writing it by hand.

Go Ellie!

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Ellie loves to lay out her clothes, especially her pajamas.  Before she gets in the shower, she will carefully arrange her pajamas, with a new pair of underwear hidden underneath.  She will often pick out clothes for Lulu as well.

Lulu and her cell-reek {celery}.

It is her favorite food.

She eats 1-2 stalks a day.

I can even distract her from wanting to drink "nilk" by offering her cell-reek.

Time to Wake Up

A big downside to a big weekend with many late nights in a row is waking Ellie up for preschool.

Yes, we were late.

Yes, I see many more mornings like this in our future as she has earlier school times.

Oh, how sweet the snuggling girls are!  I watched them for a couple of minutes before I could bring myself to wake them up.

Conference Naps

Between late night "dates" with Daddy and having guests, we have had midnight bedtimes 2 days in a row.  We knew the girls had to have naps today (including Ellie--Lu has napped the last few days), so we loaded up in the truck and took a drive while listening to conference.  Lu napped for two hours, and Ellie is approaching her two hour mark (and is still asleep on the couch).

How Many Spencers...

...can we fit into our house after Priesthood session?

Mom, Dad, Tammy, and Daniel
Todd, Clay, Jace, Cassie, Mateo, and Scott & Kael Wendt
Kyle, Jonette, Kylene, Kiera, Kaysen, and Caity Layng
Paul, Staci, Dallin, Parker, & Kyralyn
Rod & Jasmine
David, Andrew, & Emily

It was awesome, and wonderful to be packed in upstairs, while giving the younger set the run of the basement.  The Michigan/Syracuse game was on, and it got pretty intense.

We Love Kaysen

Kyle, Jonette, and the kids came for a few days for their Spring Break and for General Conference.  Kaysen is really tall all of a sudden.  And he is really cute with the girls.  We love him!

The Host

Back to hang out with Amy today, and we went to The Host.  (It's Spring Break around here and Haddie came to play with the girls).  It's the first movie I've seen in the theater this year, and I loved it!  I usually don't like adaptations of my favorite books on my first viewing, but this movie was really well-done.

I want to see it again.

I might make Greg go with me!

Stomping Bubble Wrap

Amy is here for Spring Break, so the girls and I took her to lunch at Cafe Rio.  Well, I drove, and Amy insisted on paying, so I guess Amy took us to lunch!  We hung out at Mom's house for a little while afterwards, and Lu loved stomping on the bubble wrap.

Changing Pajamas

It was pretty warm yesterday, so Ellie thought it would be good to wear her short-sleeved, summery Minnie Mouse pajamas to bed.  When I peeked in this morning, I saw her wearing "warm" pajamas.

When Ellie woke up, she told me that she got cold in the middle of the night, so she changed.  She even put her Minnie Mouse pajamas back in her drawer.

Tea Party

Ellie loves to have tea parties with her friends.  Megan came over to play today, and I talked her mom into letting her stay for over 3 hours.  The girls all happily played (they were seriously awesome) and I got a big chunk of the closet cleaning done.  Without "helpers," so I could throw away more stuff.

A win-win, for sure.

We had a healthy lunch at our tea party.  Lulu ate carrots, celery, applesauce, and Minnie Mouse chicken nuggets.  Megan had applesauce and dinosaur chicken nuggets.  Ellie just had dinosaur nuggets.  And Lambie had orange juice.
