Snuggles

We are getting in a bad habit lately, where the girls come in our bed early in the morning (4 a.m. today for Ellie and 6 a.m. for Lynlee).  Greg snapped this picture after he got up.

As soon as Ellie woke up, she said to me, "Lynlee just loves her big sister.  She just wanted me to snuggle her!"

It is moments like this that completely melt my heart.

Picture for Daddy

Ellie painted this picture for Daddy.  She did his face, and a yo yo and I'm not sure what else.  I was especially impressed with how she signed her name.  And Ellie found a heart sticker and put her picture on Daddy's desk to surprise him.

People Who Have Influenced My Life

Kandice
Kandice is one of my BCLs and one of my favorite people in the world!  When she first moved into the Lehi 25th ward, she had 2 darling little girls and we were visiting teaching companions.  We instantly became friends and I invited her to the fledgling book club I had started with Kelly.

To this day, I am impressed by Kandice's quiet power, her testimony, her mothering skills, and her compassion.  She is a talented pianist and an amazing teacher.  And did I mention her testimony?  She has such faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His gospel and her countenance shines with His love.  Kandice is an example to me of how to live and how to love.

The Morrows

Our kind friends, The Morrows, invited us over for dinner tonight.  Super yummy food: lasagna, salad, corn, and "crunchies" {aka garlic bread--but you can't say the word bread or Ellie won't eat it}.  And as always, superb conversation and lots of laughing.

Nick and Hailey alternately disappeared with the girls and kept them occupied.  Nick and Lynlee came up from the basement and Lynlee asked us if we wanted to play "ping pock" with her.

Tower

We had a lot if fun building this tower, and Eliana wanted me to take a picture. And she has been wearing a leotard or a dress up dress since E came yesterday. They love playing dress up together!

First Sleepover

We have had a sweet birth mom, S,  staying with us off and on since Christmas.  She is due any day, so her aunt flew in from Houston to be here with her.  S's 3 year old niece is a favorite of Ellie's, and they play so well together.  S thought she was going to have the baby last night, so she headed to the hospital with her aunt, and we got to play with our friend.  About 9 p.m., we decided to have a sleepover with Ellie and E in Ellie's room, since this was E's first night with us and her mommy was still with S.

The only problem with this plan is that the girls had so much fun that they didn't fall asleep until after 11. And E was up at 6:30 the next morning, and Ellie at 7:30...

The Mountains

We were driving to the store, and Lynlee said, "Mom, look!  The mountains are hiding in the clouds!"

Kind sister took a picture of it for us.

A Favorite Day

One of my favorite days of the year is when my blog books come in the mail.  It is so fun to take a few minutes to look over the past year and reminisce.  The girls have changed so much in a year!

I also counted up and realized I have been blogging Tender Mercies for 5 years, Picture a Day for 3 years, Ellie's birth mom's blog for 3 years, and Lynnie's birth mom's blog for 2 years.  I am impressed with myself that I haven't given up yet.

Laundry

My friend Kandice has a system of doing laundry only one day a week.  I aspire to do that, but I seem to do a couple or three loads every day.  The girls are good about amusing themselves while we work on it, and are pretty good at helping put their clothes away in their drawers.

Today they were driving the bus and singing The Wheels on the Bus.  Ellie loved being the bus driver and telling Lynnie to "move on back!"

Farewell to Adam

After our busy day with Greg's new Stake Presidency meetings, the girls and I went to Bobi and Brian's house to see Adam for the last time.  He leaves on Wednesday for the MTC and the Texas Fort Worth mission, Spanish speaking.  He's going to be a great missionary!

Googly Eye

Ellie and I had a great morning.  We did crafts before Lynlee woke up and then made breakfast for Nana and Pops.  After breakfast was over, Ellie was helping me clean up.  All of a sudden, she started freaking out and digging her finger in her nose.  She had just realized that there was a certain, small googly eye stuck in her nose.

Luckily, the extraction was successful.

And Ellie has promised to never stick anything up her nose again.

Sleepy Girl

Lynnie can sleep through anything!

She fell asleep in the car on the way to Greg's basketball game, and slept on my lap for an hour.  Through the announcers and the buzzers and the crowd noise.

Super impressive.

Pink Monkey

Walmart has this little arcade section, and occasionally we will go over after shopping and Ellie will ride the Elmo firetruck ride.  Today we did a quick shopping with Nana, and Lynnie asked to ride Elmo.

I was impressed.  Lynnie usually will not go near that scary thing!

I got quarters from the cashier and we went right over, to capitalize on this amazing event.

And there was no more Elmo firetruck.  There is now a yellow ice cream truck.

Lynnie didn't go.

Next to the truck was one of those games with the claw where you try to pick up a stuffed animal.  We all know how that goes, right?  Because it was a quarter, I let Ellie give it a try.

And wouldn't you know it, she got a pink monkey!  First time ever.  Ellie named her Charchie.

The Temple with Adam

As Brian put it, it was a banner day.  We were able to be with Adam as he received his endowment in the Jordan River temple.

Many thanks to Miss Traci for having Ellie play with her and to Mary for having Lynlee play with her so we could attend a 9:20 a.m. session.
Adam, Bobi, and Lauren (Adam's girlfriend..for a few more days, at least)

Just chillin at Costco with our new pillows. And a churro, of course!

Denver

We got to hang out with Denver and Aunt Jessica today for a while, and help take pictures of Denver in her cute 1 year old birthday outfits.  Ellie was a big helper and tried to get Denver to smile.  Lynnie loved Denver's toys so much that she had an accident.  The first one in a long time.  Luckily, it was just on the kitchen floor on the way to the potty, and not on the carpet.  Jessica was a good sport about it and even helped clean it up, which really goes above and beyond!

Elder Taylor

Family dinner at grandma's house is always fun, especially when it is one of the last times we will see Adam before he leaves on his mission next week. Lynlee is being his buddy tonight!

Kinzie's Audition

I had the great opportunity to play for Kinzie's audition for an oboe scholarship. We have had so much practicing over the last week and a half, with half a dozen rehearsals. She did awesome, and the guy said because she plays the oboe she is in high demand and pretty much guaranteed some type of scholarship.

So many memories as we rehearsed, too. I played this classic oboe solo when I was a kid and I still remember the nuances and the melody. Such is the power of music.

Note to self: make sure at least one daughter plays the oboe!

Princess Dress

Lynnie Lu didn't want to take her Cinderella dress off after her Princess Tea Party at the Gibsons.  I didn't know she was so tired, but Ellie came out after about 20 minutes of Quiet Time to tell me Lu was asleep.  I snapped a picture, got a Pull-Up on her, arranged some pillows around her, and left her to sleep.

Shhh! Don't Wake Up Daddy

Lynnie likes to go potty when she first wakes up, which means I usually strip her down, take off her night diaper, help her go potty, and get her dressed for the day.  Today her diaper had leaked so I started the process and then put a load in the washer to get going.

Lynnie dragged her pillow in my room and climbed up by Greg before I got back.  Ellie came in and told sister, "shhh, don't wake up daddy!"  Ellie covered him with her blankie and gave him Lambie to hold.  He seemed to stay asleep through it all, although I'm not sure that is entirely possible.

Out For a Walk

We had fun walking to Mary's house for a birthday lunch. On the way home, Ellie asked, "Lynlee, want me to hold your hand?" Lynlee said "uh huh" and they held hands all the way home.
