Lights Animated to the Music

There is the coolest house not too far from us, with lights that are animated to music.  There is a sign telling you to tune your radio to 90.7, and it is amazing!  Lynlee was fascinated and could have stayed all night.  Ellie was ready to go after a few minutes.

Our Favorite Mural

We headed to PCMC-Riverton today to pick up Lynlee's new glasses, and Ellie asked to take a picture by her turtle and Lynnie's dolphin.  I was happy to oblige.

RS Christmas Dinner

Beautiful decorations for the Christmas dinner tonight.  We helped with set up for about 3 hours today, and then I helped in the kitchen with Elizabeth's amazing dinner.  Everything handmade--brisket, roasted red potatoes, fresh green beans with lemon zest, rolls, salad with feta cheese, pears, and walnuts, and individually prepared cheese balls with crackers.  And layer cakes.

Wow, that girl can cook.  I was happy to be her minion for the evening!

We walked around the neighborhood and delivered flyers for the Relief Society Christmas dinner tomorrow night.  The girls did great for about 45 minutes, and then Ellie was ready to go home.  They both loved their mittens.  And their snacks.

Nursery Friends

Lynnie likes Nursery.

(She doesn't really, but it makes me feel better to pretend that she does.)

Since I am teaching Ellie's pre-Sunbeam class, Greg stays with Lynnie during the Sunday School hour and then we trade.  Today some of Lynnie's friends climbed up on the table and were giggling.  Lynnie climbed up as well and it was so cute that I took 2 steps to the window to get my phone out of the diaper bag so that I could take a picture.

In that 3 second time frame, Lynnie started crying and tried to get off the table to follow me

Lynnie discovered that she can stretch and reach both sides of the doorway into my bathroom.  She stood there for a long time, sticking out her belly and saying, "Stretch!"
And we love the presents around here!  This shirt was from Jonette and the ladybug hairclips are from Grandma.

Black Friday

I celebrated Black Friday by having an all day shopping extravaganza with the BCLs.  About 4:30 we decided we needed a break from spending money, so we caught Breaking Dawn Part 2.

All Over

Well, it's that time when the house is quiet, the dishes are done, the food is consumed or put away, and I am sad that it is all over.  A great Thanksgiving, and a great time to reflect on all that is precious in my life.

Preparations Begin

We are excited to host Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year.  First step--finish defrosting that turkey.

My Latest Project

I love to do little projects while I watch the girls play.  There is interaction and we are all busy and happy.  My latest idea comes from pinterest and it involves sticking itty bitty magnets on pom poms.  I hope they really stay stuck, because it is tedious super fun and I wouldn't want to have to do it twice.

This is my batch from the last few minutes, and I almost have enough for the girls to start playing with them (combined with the bunch I did yesterday).

Spot the Difference

Ah, never ending laundry.  One of the fabulous side effects of throwing up children.

In one cobbled together load, I washed 4 shirts, 3 burp cloths, a sweatshirt, and an errant scarf.
And everything in that load came out purple.

Clearly, that black scarf had never been washed before.

The good news is that Ellie loves that now there is 1 purple picture shirt and 1 pink picture shirt (since she wears Lynlee's as well as hers all of the time).  She is wearing the purple shirt right now!

10:50 a.m.

There is something wrong in our house when Greg's desk looks like this at 10:50 a.m. on a Sunday morning.
The girls and I stayed home from church to finish healing up (and we are all doing much better today).  We were downstairs playing when we heard footsteps.  I thought maybe Greg just nipped home during Sunday School to check on us, but by the time we got upstairs he was already in his pajamas and climbing in bed.

He pulled the hard duty of taking care of us sickies all weekend and is now out for the count!

I am glad he can take the day off to sleep and heal.  The only problem is making up the 7 hours of appointments from today that he cancelled...

A Bunch of Sickies

We have had an exciting week.  Lynlee got sick first on Wednesday, and then was fine on Thursday.  She relapsed on Friday, I got sick as well, and then it hit Ellie last night about 1 a.m.  Greg let me sleep and snoozed on the floor with Ellie until I took over about 6:30 a.m.  He said she was throwing up about every 20 minutes.  Poor thing.

And then Lynnie was back at it around 7.

When will the throw up end?  I feel so sorry for these poor babies.

Lambie's Birthday. Again.

Ellie: Let's make a cake for Lambie's birthday.  A babilla one!  {vanilla}

The Last One

Greg is convinced that I will get cancer if I keep drinking Diet Coke.  So, I'm giving it up.

For real.

I drank what we had left, and this was my last can.

I've tried to kick the habit before, but I am more motivated this time.

Poor Girl

Poor girl is reacting to her flu shot from yesterday.  She has thrown up 3 times so far.

We were just snuggling, and she signed play.  I let her down, she turned in a circle, laid down, and went to sleep.

Feel better, baby!

To Our First Washing Machine Casualty

You somehow got mixed in with Ellie's laundry.

And were not discovered until you were thunking around the dryer.

Please R.I.P.

Zonked Out

I was getting everything organized so we could take some treats over to Julie, and just as we were putting on shoes, Lynnie messed her pants.  I took her back to change her, and came back to find Ellie zonked out.  I woke her up right away as we got in the car, so she probably had a 5 minute nap.

I was really worried that she wouldn't go to sleep until 11 or something, but she went down only about an hour late (at 8:30).  Not bad, not bad at all.

And I am not complaining about that adorable face!  She is so sweet when she is asleep.

Ellie has always called headbands "band-aids."  I was reminded of this again today as we were playing in the playroom, dressing her babies.

Ensemble Festival

I am teaching McKinzie and Syreese piano this year.  I have taught Kinz since she was a Kindergartener, and now she is a Senior in high school.  It is interesting on lesson days, but we are getting into the routine.  Either Kinz or Syreese plays with the girls while I teach the other one.  Well, they will play with Ellie and I hold Lynnie on my lap and try to have her not cry.

Anyway, today was Ensemble Festival.  Syreese played with Josh Conklin (Kinz's student) and they did great.  I got to be Kinz's partner, and I am just glad that only she was being judged.  She has been better than me for years, and we picked a good piece that was a challenge for her.

This page was our favorite, with lots of hand crossing and holding fingers up so we weren't in each other's way.

Busy Day

We have had a busy day.  It was Krista's wedding (a young sister in our ward) and we headed to the Salt Lake Temple for a 12:20 sealing.  Kelly was very generous and offered to have the girls play with her and Sam.

Greg and I figured out where to park and got to the temple in plenty of time, where we enjoyed visiting with some friends.  And then I looked across the waiting room and saw Kelsey Mackintosh Knell, one of my former piano students.  She is grown up and married now, and it was a little weird.  I think it's always weird when worlds collide.  She and Krista were best friends in high school.  What a small world!

After the sealing, Greg and I got a quick bite at Cafe Rio before picking up the girls.  They had so much fun with Kelly & Sam.  Greg went to work for the rest of the afternoon, I got Lynnie down for her nap, and had about 10 minutes with Ellie before Hailey came over to play.  I ran down to practice the piano with Kinz for an hour for Festival tomorrow.

When I got home, I had about an hour to do dishes clean up the house get ready play with the girls before we needed to leave for the wedding reception.  Ellie wanted to pull out the hide-a-bed, and they had fun jumping on the cushions.  We turned it into a little obstacle course, and both girls giggled and laughed as they jumped.

It was a good, full day, but I missed the girls!  I feel like I barely spent time with them, and it made me realize how precious every minute is.

Seriously....'s November, 67 degrees outside, and the AC is on in the car.  Love it!

Cleaning the Garage

Things get really clean when Greg brings home his fancy equipment: vacuums the garage, scrubs it with the tile scrubber-thingie, and squeegees up the water. Nice work, hon!

It's Scooter Time

Is it really November? The weather was so nice today, we had to go for a long walk.  Ellie really wanted to ride her scooter, which meant Lynnie really wanted to ride her scooter.

Which meant that they rode for a few minutes and then I carried/dragged {drug?} the scooters the rest of the time.

And the best part was playing in the dirt!

Green Smoothie

I have been experimenting with green smoothie recipes for months now, and I finally made one this morning that tasted pretty good.  Lynnie liked it, too!
My "recipe" for today:

Fill blender with spinach and about halfway with water==>puree.
Add some frozen raspberries and peaches from our garden.
2 spoonfuls of greek yogurt.
Handful of black grapes.
Frozen mixed berries.
1 tsp of agave syrup.

Make sure Ellie and Lynlee have run to Ellie's room and shut the door, because they hate the blender.

Blend away.

Where Did My Baby Go?

Babies grow up so quickly!  Lynnie turns 2 on Thursday, and I was feeling nostalgic when I found this picture of her at 2 months old, wearing a snuggly outfit that was a gift from Bobi.

Lynnie is such a big girl now, and it makes me wonder--where did my baby go?

Fill 'er Up!

Greg: Why did you get out of the truck?

Heather: I want to get a picture of you filling the truck up.

Greg: Why?

Heather: That's what "picture a day" is all about--a slice of regular, every day life.

Greg:  Normal people don't take pictures like this.

When we first moved into our house, our road was a dead-end (some complication with buying that last strip of land).  After 7 years, it has been standard to go down the street and around the block.

The city brought out some crews last week, tore out some trees, and got to work putting in the rest of the road.  I haven't driven on it yet (the cones just got moved today) but it will be fun to go this way from now on.

And you can see the runner on the new bike path/walking trail.  This trail connects to the Utah County system and goes all the way to Provo.

Book Club

Tonight was Book Club, and I had it moved to my house since Greg had appointments. Ellie went to bed at 7:30, but Lynnie was not interested. She hung out with me and my friends and ate snacks with us. Around 9:30, she finally laid down between my legs and shielded her eyes from the lights. After a little more milk and a diaper change, it was off to bed.
