Halloween

We were happy to catch the Lassons at home and get pictures with our best friends!

Seatbelts, so we can be safe!

Occasionally, Ellie wants Lambie to be buckled in the car seat. She tells me, "Lambie needs a seatbelt too, so we can be safe!"

Stirring

Last night we read Twas the Night Before Christmas for the first time.  Ellie and Lynnie loved it!

This morning, Ellie asked me very seriously, "you remember that mouse?  The one in that story?  What was he stirring?  Was it cookies or a salad?"

Totally Tasty

Megan Brown, a.k.a. The Sweet Tooth Fairy, is in our ward (and she serves in Beehives, which makes for very happy girls!).  Greg brought home this loaf of bread called Totally Tasty from her, and we are super excited to see if it lives up to its name.

'Bout Time

It's about time that my online back-up finished.  I used Moxy for years and was happy with them until they upped their prices.  I switched to Carbonite on May 12 because it backs up my external hard drive as well as my hard drive, and the back-up of my most important files is finally complete.  (I have now added in the rest of the files, another 33,000--wonder how long this will take?).

It is good that it took this long, in a way, as it shows me that I am not really on the computer as much as I thought, since it only runs when the computer is awake.

The best thing about this service is that I can access my computer files on my phone.  Love it, and have used that often to play music.  Who needs an iPhone when my music files play on the Carbonite app?

Fun in the Snow

Ellie came running in while I was in the shower and said, "let's play outside in the snow!"  We quickly gathered up mittens and boots and headed out.  The snow didn't last long, but we had a great time while it did.

Story Time with Davis

We made it to Story Time today, and were lucky enough that Davis and Callie joined us.  Lulu really wanted to sit with the other kids but didn't want to go by herself.  Ellie wouldn't sit with her, so she was excited that Davis was willing.  For about a minute.

Dying Pasta

Ellie, Lynnie, and I have big plans to make pasta necklaces and sundry other crafts tomorrow.  Ellie was a big help today getting the pasta dyed.  She poured half a box of pasta in each Zip-loc bag, picked the food coloring, and squirted it in.  After I sealed the bag, she gleefully mixed it all up.

Slide

After dropping Ellie off at preschool, Lynnie and I went to help clean the church.  I got to vacuum the chapel, and Lynnie did better than expected (she hates the vacuum).  She sat on a choir seat and played with my phone (watching Barney on Netflix, mostly) for about 25 minutes.  Then it was trickier but we got it done.

After, we had about 15 minutes to kill before picking Ellie up.  There is a little playground nearby so we stopped to swing.  About 5 minutes in, the wind picked up and it sprinkled a little.  Lynnie was having so much fun she didn't want to stop playing.  She kept on shivering and signing "cold" but wouldn't come down off the play equipment.

When it was time to go get Ellie, she tried out a new way of coming down the slide.  As soon as I snapped the picture, she said "see."  And as soon as she had seen, she freaked out, so I set her on her bum to finish out the slide.

Writing Her Name

Today was a big day for Ellie because the Pre-Sunbeam class started.  I am lucky and get to be her teacher (as an assignment, not a calling--since you were all worried that I would now have too many callings).  During the Sunday School hour, all of the kids that will be Sunbeams in January (only 16 today, a few were missing) met with me and Susy to do a transition class.  Susy taught a real lesson and kept their attention engaged for about 15 minutes.  We sang songs and played games and colored pictures and ate mini-marshmallows.  Then we took the children back to their regular nurseries in the last hour.

After delivering the Pre-Sunbeams, I went on a hunt for Lynnie.  She was hanging out with Greg in Opening Exercises for Priesthood, so I took her with me to Relief Society (I wanted to hear Shannon teach).  We made it about 20 minutes and then headed back to nursery.

When we got there, Ellie was coloring another picture and proudly showed me that she had written her name.  This is the first time she has done all of it!  (That's a great endorsement for Traci and preschool right there.)

Can you see "Eliana"?

Stamps

Lynnie and Ellie love to do art.  Today they spent an hour with the stamps.  Lynnie loved the happy face stamp the best, and for Ellie it was all about the turtle stamp.

Dipping

We spent the morning with Bobi, Adam, and Lyssa doing a blog tutorial (look for posts soon, right, Bobi?), and they fed us quesadillas for lunch. Bobi and Lyssa were dipping with ranch, and Lynnie wanted to try it too.

She loved it.

And then proceeded to lick more than she ate.

Thanks a lot, Aunt Bobi!

Make-up Music Class

Miss Leda had a make-up music class today, and she invited Ellie and Lynnie to come.  Ellie really misses music class, but we had to choose between preschool with Miss Traci or music, and preschool won.  It was great to take her for the special day today!

It was amazing to me that even though Ellie has not been to class since last April, all of her habits came right back.  She walked right down the stairs and picked our normal spot, and tried to get all of Lynnie's instruments for her.  (Last spring, Lynnie wasn't walking yet so Ellie was a big helper and kept her supplied.)

Ribs

My mom sent us home last night with the ribs from her freezer, and we were more than happy to cook them up today.  Yummy!

Ah, Diapers

One of the best things of sitting with the Morrows during Sacrament Meeting? Hailey leaning over and saying, "Lynlee has poopy pants.  Do you want me to change her?"

Um, yes, please!

During the 3rd hour, LDS Family Services came and did a special presentation and all adults were invited to attend. Since Lynlee wouldn't let me leave her in nursery, she got to come with me.  She was sitting on Greg's lap (in a suit, of course), when he quickly figured out she needed a diaper change (as his leg got wet).  I took her out, trying to walk quietly across the gym floor, and took care of business.  About 5 minutes after we returned, Lynlee pooped again.  I had to go to the car to get another diaper, and Lynnie loved playing with this hat and the seatbelt.

Feeding Sister Milk

Ellie: Lynlee, can I feed you milk?

Lynlee: Mommy milk.

Ellie: Please?

Lynlee: OK.  Ella milk.

Because the girls and their BFF Hope are downstairs playing. Lots of giggles floating up the stairs!

Dress-Up

Nothing says "friendship" quite as much as agreeing to play dress-up to make Ellie happy.

Green!

Sometimes the best things in life are the simplest things.  Ellie and I blew up balloons for a birthday party for Lambie, and Lynnie loved it!  She kept on telling me that this was a "geen bawoon" {green balloon}.

Portrait by Ellie

Ellie loves to take pictures, and she has gotten really good at keeping her fingers out of the way of the lens on my cell phone camera.

Funeral

Lynnie was a dream all day at the funeral for Kelly's mom.  She warmed up by the end of the day, and called Ilene "Kylene" and even said "Steph" once.

(Traci was nice enough to let Ellie hang out with her and Hope all day, so that Ellie could go to preschool.  And as a side note, Ellie was so sad when I came to pick her up and would have happily played for many more hours!)

Watching General Conference

Ellie and Lynnie were so cute during the morning session of General Conference.  At this point, Ellie had made a bed and was pretending to take a nap, complete with snores.

It lasted about 30 seconds, and she was off to the next task.

Mom's 66th Birthday

Bobi, Teri, Jon, and I took Mom out for her birthday dinner.  She picked a Thai restaurant and everything we had was delicious.  Happy birthday, Mom!  66 years old and 8 years cancer-free.  Quite the accomplishments.

Matching

Smart Lynnie matched 2 whole boards before wanting to do another activity.

And this is how Ellie's room looks after only about 30 minutes of playing.

My heart is full for my dear friend Kelly, who lost her mom today.  Even though Teri has been fighting cancer for months, it is still unexpected when the end comes.  I will miss hearing updates and funny stories from Kelly about her adventures driving to Provo almost daily while caring for her mom.

BFFs

Wow, Ellie really never wears clothes at home anymore.  At least she has shorts on in this picture.

I love how these girls get along.  They truly are best friends, and they play so well together!  I was feeling nostalgic and so I looked up the first picture I have of them together and it is here.  I hope they always stay friends.

New Coat Rack

Ellie helped me put up a new coat rack in the powder room by the garage.  I figured since we don't have a mud room, I needed to use the space we have!  It is perfect for the girls' coats and bags.
