One of the reasons I convinced Greg we agreed to put finishing the basement higher on our priority list was the opportunity to have firesides at our house.  The Laurels and Priests are still down there with the Bishop talking about all sorts of things (I slipped upstairs to get the refreshments ready).  I very rarely get to see Greg in "Bishop Mode" so it was a treat for me to sit back and observe.

What a great bunch of teenagers--so fun to have them spend the evening with us.

Tanya & David

Tanya asked me to take some pictures of their family today.  I told them to have low expectations, and then had a great time hanging out with their fabulous family.  Emily was not really in the mood, but we got some pretty good shots overall.  My favorite is the last one I took of the day--Andrew has such an impish face, and you can tell that Emily is completely done!

Canyon Beauty

We drove up Provo canyon to visit Greg's parents and Daniel who are camping in Woodland. A great night, and a beautiful drive.

The BCLs descended on Wines Park this morning for a playdate.  Kelly, Ilene, Kandice, Erin, and I all made it with our preschool-aged kids.  At one point, we took over the entire swing set.  It was so fun to enjoy the nice weather and visit while the kids played--even though the grass was being mowed the whole time we were there and it was pretty noisy.

Strong Girl

This girl has serious muscles!  She grips the counter, lifts her legs, and swings back and forth, all while saying, "swing!"  Lulu must have done this 12 times before getting tired.

Lunch with M

Lynnie's birth mom was in Ogden for the day, so we drove up to meet her for lunch. We went to a new Costa Vida downtown, and it was really nice to see her and catch up.  Lynnie was fascinated by the surfers at the gym next door.  It was pretty cool to watch them through the wall of windows.

New Hiding Spot

Lynnie was pretty proud of herself for finding this fabulous hiding spot at the Morrow's house!

Sunday, September 23, 2012

We have had an awesome day!  Ellie and Lynnie got to play at Hope's house while Greg and I went to the 9:00 session of the Brigham City Temple Dedication, and then Hope played at our house while her family went to the noon session.  The girls are so good together, and such good friends.  It is so sweet to listen to them play.  And they got about 5 hours in today, and none of them were ready to say good-bye when Hope's daddy came to pick her up.  That is a big success!

New Bookshelves From Ikea

We were a little tired of looking at boxes in the office, so we headed to Ikea to get some new bookshelves.  I'm excited to help Greg create his retreat!

Fun at the Eye Doctor

We headed to the eye doctor to get Lynlee's eye glasses adjusted.  About a week ago, she did a somersault off of Ellie's bed and her glasses stayed behind--mangled.  I have been messing with them, trying to get them in the right spot, but it has not been too successful.  And Wednesday night when I took them off, one of her nose pads was missing.

She's all fixed now!

Light Switches

Lulu is fascinated with light switches.  She likes to tell me, "light on.  No, light off."  She is the right height to stretch up and get the hallway light switches at church now (we discovered last Sunday while we were roaming the halls during Stake Conference).

Today she pushed a chair over to the wall, climbed up, and amused herself for almost 10 minutes.  I love watching her figure things out!

Pinewood Derby

Greg and I took the girls to the Pinewood Derby and it was so fun!  There was so much excitement in that gym.

We got there early and had a fun time talking with Traci and Hope while we waited for the Cub Scouts to come in.

As we were driving home, I asked Ellie what her favorite part of the night was.

E:  The race cars.  And running with Hope.  What was your favorite part, Mom?

Me:  Spending time with Daddy and you and Lynlee.

E:  What was your favorite part, Lynlee?

L:  RUN!

Moving The Kitchen

We were having fun with the Morrows in the basement, and Ellie was flitting all around, cooking us food.  All of a sudden, Hailey says, "Heather, look!" and I glanced over to see Ellie pushing her kitchen into the family room.

She said she just wanted to cook for everybody, and it was too far away to run into the playroom!

Late Afternoon Snooze

Lynnie needed a diaper change, and I left Ellie playing in the family room.  In just the couple of minutes I was gone, she flopped down on the ottoman and fell asleep.  Gotta love those late afternoon naps!

On The Bus

The bus ride may have been the girls' favorite part of going to the Brigham City Temple Open House. Ellie must have told us 10 times that she loved riding on the bus!

First Day of Kindermusik

Kindermusik is perfect this year for Lynlee. We dropped Ellie off at preschool, went to class, and went back to watch Ellie do the gymnastics part of preschool.

Lynlee was a little hesitant when I was talking about music class with her for the days ahead, but once we were there she did awesome. I think she remembers going before, so that is helpful. It was a lot easier for me this time because she is walking now, and was really good about picking up her instruments and putting them away.

Breakfast of Champions

I finally got onboard the Instagram train and have been playing around with it this morning.  I know there is more I should be able to do, but so far I can only access 4 filters.  I need a serious tutorial!

And I had a handful of Froot Loops to go along with my Diet Coke for breakfast this morning.

Turtles and Dolphins

One of my favorite connections we have with the girls' birth moms is their special animals.  Tayler picked turtles to be Ellie's special animal, and M picked dolphins to be Lynlee's special animal.

I love when I find things that have both animals together!

Ellie's Halloween Costume

Ellie has already picked out her Halloween costume, and she loves to wear it.  I love that she loves dressing up!
Lynlee took a 4 hour nap today, so Ellie and I had lots of time to play.

After Heidi's Funeral

The funeral for Heidi was touching and funny--exactly what I expected.  It was a good day to reminisce and celebrate Heidi's life, and to reconnect with friends from the Lehi 25th ward.

The biggest surprise was seeing Kyle and Jonette.  They flew back early from their 20th anniversary trip to Hawaii, and got off the plane in Salt Lake (instead of continuing on to Helena).  Kylene came up from SUU, and Kiera and Kaysen drove down with Grandpa and Dan (who were babysitting staying with them).

We got there early because we did not know how full it would be, and the girls did great the whole time.  Lynlee and I spent the last hour in the foyer, and that was fun for me.  She learned where her elbow is, and how to sign "scared."  She was so tired, but would not settle down to sleep on my lap, or when we walked around with her head on my shoulder.  After we got in the truck, she was asleep before we left the parking lot, and Ellie was asleep soon after.

Set Up

We went to the church to help set up for the Fantastic Friday event tonight, and the girls did great.  We brought our little DVD player and Ellie watched a movie with Summer and Brynn, while sharing snacks and playing with baby Emma.  Lynlee was my helper and did fine as long as she could see me.  She even got pretty brave by the end and hung out with Ellie while I helped finish everything up.

A Seat

E & L love to sit in the back of the car when I am loading groceries.  I love it because I know they are contained and safe!

Jury Duty

I got called for jury duty, and it was the first time in my adult life that I had to appear (it's always been cancelled before).  It was interesting to go through the process, and even better because the case was settled as all of us prospective jurors were waiting in the courtroom.

The defendant entered a guilty plea and the judge talked to us, and we were out of there.  Greg was at work by 11:30 a.m.

And I am proud that I did my civic duty.

And had good memories because I was in the courthouse where both Ellie's and Lynlee's adoptions were finalized.

Fish at Cabela's

Greg needed to return some things at Cabela's and we happily went along. We love to look at the fish and the animals.

Lynnie was so excited to see the fish, and was asking about them the whole drive, and walking in to the store.

Until we got to the fish, and then she signed "fish" once and went into fear/death grip mode.  I tried to get her to warm up for a minute, and she was not too happy, so we went out of the aquarium part.

As soon as we walked out, she started crying that we had left the fish.

So back in we went, with Lynnie in Greg's arms, and she did the death grip on him.

Hopefully she had a little bit of fun.

Antique Music

I spent about 5 hours in the Stake Library today, organizing the music. Our stake includes the historic Lehi 3rd Ward, which had a lot of music gathered over the years that was collected for the stake music library.  The oldest music I found was printed in 1900.

This particular piece was printed in 1909.

I don't know if any of the choir directors use this old music, but it sure was fun for me to go through and catalog it!
