Favorite Park

We headed south to meet a friend at one of our favorite parks.  And it took us almost 2 hours to get there because of the BYU game traffic...

Favorite Activity

Lulu loves to open and close drawers.  And she hasn't pinched a finger in weeks.

7:32 p.m.

Apparently, Ellie was not as interested as I was in watching the Relief Society General Meeting from last Saturday.
We had a picnic dinner tonight, and Ellie was more interested in running around the yard than actually eating (which is totally fine).  Both girls were really tired as a result of a non-nap for Ellie and only one, relatively short nap, for Lulu.  I had Lulu bathed, fed, and in bed by 7:20, and Ellie knew it was her turn next.  She told me she was hungry, so we got her situated with the rest of her dinner while I did the dishes.  I gave her gummy bear vitamins, she told me thank you, I put the vitamins away and then said something to her.  My comment got no response, since she was already asleep!

Stake Farm Assignment

I am so grateful to Nick, Hailey, and Julie for hanging out with us this morning at the Stake Farm.  Ellie only wanted Nick and/or Hailey to help her and play with her.  We had a beautiful 30-ish minute walk each way to get to the right location in the field, where we all picked rocks.  Ellie got in the spirit of it and had fun throwing rocks and clumps of dirt in a pile.  Lynnie had fun being held by anyone and everyone, and she even got in on the action by playing in the dirt as well.  The weather was gorgeous, and it was wonderful to spend the morning with each other.

Friends

I browbeat Elizabeth into letting Davis come to the park with us today.  He and Ellie were hilarious in the car, jibbering and jabbering to each other.  They didn't stop talking the whole time!  This field trip worked because I put Davis in Ellie's car seat, Ellie in Lynlee's new big girl car seat (with her feet propped up high on the bench seat), and Lynlee in her baby carrier.

What a fun morning!

Davis would not look at me, but was saying cheese to Ellie....

No Nap.....

....equals falling asleep at 7:30 p.m. while on our walk.

Update:  Ellie did not wake up when I pulled her out of the stroller and laid her on the family room floor, nor while I bathed, fed, and put Lynlee to bed,  nor while I moved her to her own bed about 9 p.m.  She did wake up at 1 a.m., so I just put her in her favorite pajamas (Hello Kitty) then.  Ellie then talked for about an hour in her bed before falling asleep again.  That may or may not have been related to the fact that Lynlee was crying at the same time (she had a hard time going back to sleep after her 1:15 a.m. bottle).

People Who Have Influenced My Life

Elizabeth
I love Elizabeth!  She started as my visiting teacher and quickly become one of my dearest friends.  When we first met (as Elizabeth pointed out to me later), we were 2 of the 3 childless women in the ward.  Fast forward a few years, and Davis, Ellie, and Lynlee are all bff's.

Elizabeth is generous, kind, compassionate, genuine, spiritually minded, musically talented, incredibly smart, and a gourmet baker and chef who likes to share her creations.  She is a master gardener and an amazing mother and has good taste in literature and television series (go Gilmore Girls!)

She is my confidante and my supporter and often my cheerleader.  She makes me want to be a better person when I am with her.  During basketball season, I am always encouraged by her example to complain a little less about Greg's hours (and enjoy a little more the time I get to spend with Elizabeth).

I do not know how to describe how rich and blessed my life is, simply because I know Elizabeth.  I hope she knows how thankful I am to count her as a friend.

I want to be just like her when I grow up.

Big girl car seat

We have put it off long enough, and it was time to upgrade Lynlee's car seat. You know she is to big for her baby carrier when it is next to impossible to buckle it if her diaper is even a little wet...

We headed to Costco and got the same car seat that Ellie has, and now Lynlee sits up so tall that the girls are within reaching distance.  Ellie stole Lynnie's ball, and they played catch for a while until the ball fell on the floor.  Bring on the new adventure!

Little Miss Curious

Lulu is really figuring out how to use her body.  She loves standing, it is probably her favorite thing to do right now.  This morning, she was standing at her music table, and then she discovered that she could reach the blinds and the windowsill.  So proud of herself!

At the RV show

Our girls are amazing! We went to the RV Show at the South Towne Expo Center, and were there for quite a few hours. During naptime. Ellie thinks the trailers are the best things ever. She always wants Papa to carry her up the stairs, and then she is off to find the potty and pretend to wash her hands. If we talked too long in one particular model, she was sure to tell us she wanted a new trailer. Lynlee took a good nap in the stroller, and we had a fun Saturday!

Skyping with Amy in China

Mother/Daughter Book Club took an interesting turn. Mom, Bobi and I went to see The Help, and then went back to Mom's house to Skype with Amy. Robyn, you in for next month? With Teri, we would be all complete!

Thanks to Mom for planning a fun night.

Lehi Library Golf Classic

With famous Jo and Fox 13's Rick Aaron
Greg had fun playing with the girls while I had fun playing with Jo and the Amys (and the other Library Board members).  We had golf cart adventures and a Costco run (to pick up the pictures of the golfers, of course) and yummy food.  Oh, and we worked a little, too.

Yeah for the Library!

Organization

Ellie was busy for quite a while organizing shoes.  She can put on and take off most of the pairs by herself.

Hoo Hoo Train

Ellie lined up the magnets on the fridge and told me she made a "hoo hoo" train.

Allergy Test Results

I was tested for my allergies today (thanks to Kelly for the tip - can't wait to see how it all turns out).  I was surprised that my "lactose intolerance" is actually allergies.  4 of my top 12 food allergens are dairy based (cheese, milk, yogurt and calcium).  The doctor asked if I am tired a lot.  I said yes, but I have two babies.  I don't expect anything different.  He said it looks like I am probably anemic because I tested positive for an iron allergy.  I go back tomorrow for my first treatment - on dairy.

Mileage

Greg: Oh, cool, the mileage says 77777.
Heather: Awesome. Will you pull over and take a picture of it? I don't have a picture of the day yet.
Greg: [pulling over] Pull over? Right now?
Heather: Yes, thanks.
[picture is taken]
Greg: [driving away] It's a good thing I pulled over right then. The mileage flipped to 77778 right as I put the car in drive!

Good-bye, helmet.  I am glad we used you, but I will not miss you!

Last Day Wearing the Helmet?

We have an appointment with the specialist tomorrow, and I am really hopeful that today is the last day that Lulu has to wear the helmet!  We'll see...

Bratwurst BBQ

We had a lot of fun enjoying Labor Day with Tanya, Dave, Andrew, and Emily.  Ellie is fascinated with "Baby Emily" (who is clearly different than the Emily she pretends to play with who is a character in some Barney episodes) and An-choo.  We enjoyed eating brats and watermelon and banana bread, and had fun playing with the kiddos.

Future Photographer

Lately, Ellie wants to take a picture all by herself anytime I pull the camera out.  Here is one of her masterpieces:

Pulling Up

Lynlee is getting really active and loves to explore.  She can scoot and roll anywhere she wants to go.  She started to pull herself up today.  She didn't get all the way up, but she was close!

Park with the BCLs

We met most of the BCLs (that's the Book Club Ladies) at the park to play this morning, and we had a great time!  Thanks to Kelly for initiating it, and to Ilene, Kandice, and Erin for coming.  We don't normally get to see each other with children in tow, so that made it extra-special.

Ellie was a little confused as we were going, because I told her we were going to play with another Ellie (Ilene's Miss Ellie).  But it all worked out fine!

Driving the 4 Wheeler

We went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to hang with the cousins for a while, and Andrew and Kyralyn showed Ellie how to pretend to drive the 4-wheelers. Ellie was in heaven!
