Lotion

Ellie loves to put on lotion -- on herself, on Mom, on Dad (if he will let her).  She told me that she wanted lotion for her babies, and I even went with her to look at her babies lined up on the floor.  I knew that no lotion was accessible, so I told her to go ahead and pretend to put lotion on the babies.  I came back out to the family room to play with Lynlee.  After a couple of minutes, I realized Ellie was being awfully quiet.  I went to check on her and found her arms and legs completely covered in lotion -- at least 1/2 an inch thick -- and I immediately laughed and popped her in the tub.  I wish I had thought to take a picture of her, but we got her cleaned up and changed, and went to look at her babies.
And then I remembered that Greg had rubbed lotion on my feet the night before, and I had left it on my nightstand.  Ellie totally asked permission to use it; not her fault I did not understand.  What an obedient girl!

Amy & Grandma

Mom, Amy, and Grandma came over for dinner and to celebrate Ellie's birthday (her 2nd party this year so far).  Amy is headed back to Shanghai on Tuesday, and Mom will be in Washington, D.C. for a Music Mind Games conference on Ellie's birthday, so it was nice to have our own party.

Fun at the Mall

We had a fun couple of hours at the mall while visiting with Lynlee's birth family.  It is wonderful to see them and spend time with them.  We love them all so much!  Ellie had a blast running all over the playground, while her uncle kept an eye on her.  Lynlee got passed around between her birth mom, grandma, grandpa, and great-aunt.  We are so grateful that they love Lynlee as much as we do, and they want to spend time with her.

Waiting for the doctor....

....is rough. We waited for an hour and twenty minutes (at 10:15 a.m.) before being called back, and then waited another 15 minutes in the room to spend about 2 minutes with the doctor. The good news is that he confirmed that Lynlee is doing awesome, and her head has improved to a 5, and he is hopeful we will be done at the 3 month mark. Good healing, Lynlee!

Play Date

About a month ago, Nick asked if he could have a play date with Ellie for his birthday.  How sweet is that?  We missed his birthday (the 23rd), but we played today for about an hour after Ellie's nap.  Lynlee and I had fun talking with Julie, while Nick and Hailey entertained Ellie.

Getting braver at the park

A trip to the park with Daddy, and Ellie could not resist showing off her skills. She climbed up and down, and did things for the first time (like climbing this ladder). Lynlee also had her first time swinging in the swings (and not just sitting in it for a picture). She loved it! There was a lot of laughing and giggling.

Buttermilk Pancakes

I had leftover fresh buttermilk from making the Cafe Rio creamy tomatillo ranch dressing, and I looked up a buttermilk pancake recipe for Sunday breakfast.  Can I say, YUM!  These were the best pancakes we have ever made at home.

Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1/3 cup butter, melted
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together buttermilk, milk, eggs and melted butter. Keep the two mixtures separate until you are ready to cook.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. You can flick water across the surface and if it beads up and sizzles, it's ready!
3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, using a wooden spoon or fork to blend. Stir until it's just blended together. Do not over stir! Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/2 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Super helpful Ellie helped me fold the laundry.

First Marker Mishap

I was baiting some wasp traps in the kitchen, while Lynlee and Ellie were playing in the family room.  Ellie told me she was going to play the piano and she ran into the front room.  I heard her playing intermittently, which is normal, so I didn't think anything more of it.  When the traps were done, I scooped up Lynlee and we went to find Ellie.  And we found her like this:
she would not look at me...she wasn't in trouble, I was laughing too hard for that!

Reunion

Ricks College, Dorm 6 #185, 1993-1994
Rachelle, Heather, Kristin (and Lynlee!)

Rachelle was in town with her family from San Francisco, and she organized a little roommate reunion.  She and Kristin were roommates for a few years, so there were a couple of other ladies as well.  It was wonderful to catch up and reminisce.  We had a fun year, 18 years ago, as roommates!  Windy is back in Florida, Tanya has moved to Ohio, and Rachelle didn't know that Katie is in Eagle Mountain (so she missed an invite).  What a great lunch, and I am glad that Ellie had fun playing with Sadie while Lynlee kept me company.

24 Month Size

Ellie and Lynlee are both wearing size 24 month clothes in this picture.  Yes, I know that Lynnie's outfit is made out of non-stretchy material, so it runs a little small, but still.  I bought her cute whale outfit last year with Jonette in Montana for Ellie this year, but then decided (even though it fits Ellie) that it was a little "baby-ish" and is waaaay cuter on Lynlee.

The Helmet 'Doctor'

For lack of a better term, we call the Fit Well people Lynlee's Helmet Doctors. We got to go this morning for another adjustment. Lynlee's head is doing really well - they are pleased!

Our next major purchase?

Ellie loves to jump on the trampoline, and any time we are at a house with a trampoline, we are out there! Here Ellie is jumping with cousin Jazzy (Jasmine) from California.

Neither girl wanted to say "cheese" while we were out to dinner at Chili's with Jonette, Tammy, and Heidi Smith.

Jumping with Kaysen

We spent a couple of hours with Jonette, Kaysen, and Macey today at Grandma's house.  When I told Ellie we were going over, she said, "Jump, jump, Kasey, Kasey, please, please, please!"  When we got there, she told Kaysen, "jump, outside, please."  It was so sweet how Kaysen took her right out and played with her for about 20 minutes.  Then Kaysen's friend Taylor came over, and Ellie had to play with Mom again.  We swung on the glider and jumped on the tramp.  Lynlee likes to sit on the mat while Ellie bounces, it makes them both laugh.

Lynlee's first time in a big pool

Wacky Wednesday today was an adventure at Mark Reich's parent's pool.  Hailey was kind enough to come with us, or I would not have been brave enough to go (and then she wouldn't let me pay her, how nice is that?).  Ellie loved having her Hailey there to play with in the pool.  She spent most of the time in a kiddie tube that has straps for her to sit on, with Hailey playing with her.  Lynlee spent her time with me in the pool, and she laughed and had fun touching the water.  Once Michelle turned on the slide and kids started going down that, we got splashed and it made Lynlee a little nervous.  But she still did fine as long as I held her close.  Ellie even tried the slide!  Hollie held Lynlee for me, and Hailey took E up to the top of the slide.  She came down all by herself, and I caught her at the bottom.  She went really fast, and I think it scared her a little, but she just laughed and said it was fun.

Snoozing

Lunch with Jonette, Adrian, Tammy, Greg, Ellie, Lynlee and I at P.F. Changs was fun. Ellie was up and down and all over, until the food came, and then she ate a lot of noodles and even some brown rice.  Lynlee was good for a long time and bounced on my knee, and then she got a little fussy because she was tired.  I walked her around for a while and almost had her asleep, but came back to the table too soon, where the conversation woke her back up.  So I put her in the stroller and she fell asleep within a minute.

Hot Tub...

...with the cousins!  Kaysen wanted to get in, so of course Ellie wanted to get in.  And then Andrew wanted to get in, and luckily we had a swim diaper to fit him.  Kiera did not want her picture taken (which I can empathize with, even though I took it anyway).  I promised Kiera these shenanigans would be the picture of the day!

Lynlee's First Time...

Organizing the Cold Storage

We hit the Macey's grand opening (they bought the Albertson's/Fresh Market building in Lehi) on Saturday night and scored some awesome deals.  I have not been as diligent as putting things on the shelf as I should be, so after we got the girls in bed, Greg and I spent a couple of hours organizing and stacking things on the shelves.  It feels good to have it all done!

Ellie Was Here, Part 3

Ellie loves her babies!  In this picture we have the (imaginatively named)White Baby, Lambie, Purple Baby, Naked Baby, and Barney.  Ellie will not leave clothes on her babies, and loves to say that they are naked.

Faux Messy Bun

I did a ponytail this morning on Ellie, and her hair is so curly that it looks like a messy bun.  Pretty cute!
