Jeff, Amanda, Alex, and Emma

Jeff, Amanda, Alex, and Emma came down from Pocatello for Lynlee's blessing.  They stopped by this morning on their way home, and it was great to spend a few minutes with them.  Jeff is one of our oldest friends!  I met him the same weekend I met Greg, and Greg and Jeff met in the temple when they were receiving their endowments (and then they served in the Porto Portugal mission together).  So the friendship spans 20 years.

Papa John

What an amazing day, and an amazing experience!  Just one year after Papa John joined Grandma Lois on the other side of the veil, we were able to join Jonette and her family as Papa John's temple work was done.  Kaysen was baptized and confirmed for his grandpa, and Kyle did the rest.  Then Jonette and Kyle stood as proxies for her parents as they were sealed, and Grandma and Grandpa were proxies for Papa John and Grandma Lois while Jonette was sealed to them.

Tears were flowing throughout the day, the Spirit was strong, and it was so special. We are so grateful to have shared this experience with Jonette and her family!

Fit-Well Helmet Appointment

We got up bright and early to head to downtown Salt Lake to have Lynlee's head measured for a helmet.  They said we would need to come back in about a week for casting (and they would call us).  So we headed towards home, getting in a quick stop at Costco.  While we were shopping, Greg's phone rang, and they wanted us to come back in 2 hours for the casting.  We made it home for about 45 minutes of playtime before loading up and heading north again.  Both girls fell asleep in the car, so Greg stayed with Ellie while I took Lynlee in.

Plagiocephaly appointment

We had an appointment this morning to see if Lynlee's plagiocephaly (misshapen skull) was severe enough to warrant helmet therapy.  Our pediatrician and the specialist both diagnosed her with this due to torticollis.  The specialist said that her skull is an 8/10 on the severity scale (umm, that's bad) and that she has flat spots on the right back side of her skull and the left front side (on her forehead).

The good news is that it is totally treatable.

The bad news is that our sweet, gorgeous baby will have to wear a helmet for 3-6 months.  We have an appointment tomorrow morning with the helmet people to get the ball rolling.

Maybe Lynlee is as mellow as she is because Heavenly Father knew she would be wearing a helmet through the hottest part of the year.

First "Road Rash"

Ellie's face encountered Davis' play-kitchen-counter as a result of slipping off the play-stool.  Just a little mark on her face, and she was more concerned that she would have to stop playing than that she had a scrape on her cheek.  She's tough!

Birthday Boy

Davis' birthday was last Monday, but it took us this long to get a present over to him.  He is so smart and was cracking us all up!  He started by giving Lynlee the nickname of "Lynlee Chinlee" and after we laughed at that, he said "Ellie Bellie."  That got a good laugh so he said "Ellie Chinlee."

Pretty Dress

This pretty dress came to Ellie from Cancun, Mexico.  And I opened the bathroom door to get a tissue to wipe Ellie's nose, and she thought that was a perfect invitation to climb in the bathtub.  And it was...

She said I could take her picture, but she was climbing out when I got there with the camera.

A Good Day

This morning, the girls and I had fun playing.  Ellie has decided that waking up for the day between 5:30-6:30 is ideal, so I am trying to adjust my schedule likewise.  Ah, I think fondly of the days (about a month ago!) where she would regularly sleep til 9...

After getting ready for the day, Greg took over with playing and I spent a few hours running errands.  When I got home, both girls were sleeping, so I took a nap also.  When we were all up again, we headed outside to get the garden planted.  I had slept long enough that Lynlee was close to wanting another nap, so I got ready with everything she would need.  I asked Ellie if she knew where Lynlee's purple blankie was, and she disappeared.  The next thing I knew, the smart girl was bringing me a purple blankie!  Not "the" purple blankie, but a good one--and we used it.

Ellie is hilarious in the backyard.  She runs around and kicks her ball, and then climbs into the patio chair, and then runs over and touches the fence, and then carefully slides down the stairs into the dig-out, and then climbs back up to run around the grass.  Lynlee talked to me while I was planting for a while, and then fell asleep.

After the garden was all planted, Lynlee and I headed inside to make dinner, and Ellie and Greg went "swimming" in the hot tub.  What a good day!

Ellie's new BFF

We met Greg & Natalie for lunch today, along with their daughters Addie (4) and Maggie (9).  Maggie is off track, and we are glad because she kept Ellie entertained for the whole lunch!  They were shaking their straws at each other, and making faces and giggling.  It was adorable.

I just can't make cookies...

....to save my life!  I was attempting to make treats for my piano recital, and I followed Elizabeth's tips (beat the sugar and eggs until light yellow and fluffy) and used Jessica's no fail recipe, and still I failed.  Totally flat - but tasted extremely yummy.  At least they looked pretty--uncooked--on the tray!

This morning we went to court to finalize Lynlee's adoption.  Thanks to everyone who came with us!

Preparing the Garden Boxes

Greg and I spent Saturday and tonight weeding the yard and prepping the garden boxes.  It was starting to get chilly tonight as we prepared to mix in the new compost, so I sent Greg and Ellie back in the house while I finished up.

The compost we have been "cooking" all winter wasn't quite ready, because we did not turn it the way we were supposed to.  So Greg bought some organic vegetable compost, and some steer manure.  We have used steer manure a lot in the past, and the smell makes me think of how Greg's dad describes it - the smell of money.  Not bad at all.  This batch, though, was extremely fresh and extremely potent.  It was all I could do to mix it all up.

And let's not even talk about how much fun it was or how long it took to scrub it out from under my fingernails...

Tomorrow is the big day, but celebration tonight!

Field Trip

The girls and I had the pleasure of meeting Beth and her boys today at the Dinosaur Museum.  It was wonderful to catch up with Beth in person (and not just from reading each other's blogs).  I miss her!  She was the reason that work was fun for so many years.  We shared an office and scheduled our office hours and teaching days so that we would be on campus together.

It is amazing to look back and see how our lives have changed.  Beth started the baby revolution, and is now pregnant with #3 - and is lucky that the baby is a girl.  This is the first time that I got to meet Boy #2, and he was adorable.  We had a great morning.

Out with the Old

Greg and I got this laundry hamper for our wedding, almost 17 years ago.  It has served us well!  Pieces of the wicker have fallen out over the years, and I tossed the lid months ago.  It was getting too holey, so it was time to let it go.  Farewell, hamper!

Hailey & Brinn

Hailey and Brinn brought our weekly eggs over, and came in to talk for a minute.  Ellie was just waking up from her nap, so Hailey went and got her.  Then we spent a long time playing and laughing at the girls!  Lynlee was ready for a nap towards the end of their visit, so I put her down while Hailey and Brinn took Ellie outside to play with a ball.  What a fun visit!

feels so big

Book Club was rescheduled for tonight and I volunteered to have it here because Greg had appointments.  I moved out all of Lynlee's big toys and cleaned up all of Ellie's little toys, and the room feels so big.  I would rather have a room full of toys, though, than an empty, big room!

Ellie's minimum requirements...

Perfect Outfits

Ellie's outfit was a gift from Tayler, and Lynlee's outfit has a dolphin on it, in her birth mom's favorite colors of blue and yellow.

I was trying to get some pictures of the girls for a project I am working on, and after about 5 minutes, Ellie had had it.

Lil 'Liza Jane

At Kindermusik, we sing "Lil 'Liza Jane," and raise our hands above our heads on the lyric "Oh, Eliza" and pat the syncopated rhythm on our knees on "Lil 'Liza Jane."  Ellie loves this song and we do it many times a day!

Poor Girl

Note:  possible TMI ahead.  Feel free to skip today's post!
Poor Lynlee has had some diarrhea over the past couple of days.  She had 3 diaper changes in church alone (including one done by Nina, who was holding Lynlee while I taught the RS lesson - and that is definitely going above and beyond!).  This morning, we went to Kindermusik and then went to get the car registered.  Between the teacher's house and the auto renewal place, Ellie fell asleep and Lynlee had a blow-out.  I got her all changed and into her back-up outfit.  Then we met up with Greg so that we could go and pick up the red car from the mechanic.  On the way, we stopped at an RV place to look at some RV's.  While walking through an RV, Lynlee had another blow-out.  So, home we came, since she had pooped through her outfit and the diaper-bag-back-up-outfit!  Poor girl...

That Smile!

I just want to eat her up!  Lynlee is the sweetest baby.
