Sharing

A quick field trip to Cabela's with Davis and Elizabeth yielded a happy lesson on sharing goldfish crackers and Froot Loops.  Lynlee even drank a bottle while she was in her wrap, while I was pushing Ellie in the stroller.  It was quite a feat - and makes me even more motivated to buy a double stroller.  Tonight, if possible!

Story Time

Story time is back again at the library, and it was just lucky that there was a story about a turtle! Ellie had the most fun when it was time for dancing and grooving.

Heather - 0. Shoe Aisle at Target - 1.

Friday night, Jonette, Kylene, Kiera and I were quickly picking up a few last minute items for their trip to Mexico.  Whilst in Target, I ran over to the kids shoes to see if I could find some white shoes or sandals for Ellie.  There was a family in the aisle, with the cart parked square in the middle and about 20 kids swarming around (OK, maybe 4).  I saw an opening to get past them, I hurtled past, and I whacked my arm on a shoe display shelf.  Who knew that it stuck out so far into the aisle?
this picture really does not do my spectacular bruise justice - it is as long as my pointer finger and purple and yellow

Want Some?

We met Lynlee's birth family today for a late lunch, and Ellie was excited to share her chicken strips with her uncle!  She also showed off the remains of the stamp she got at music class that morning.

New (to us) Dress

My mom gave me this dress for the girls.  My grandma made this dress for my little sister Amy when she was a little girl, so it is over 30 years old and still stinking cute!  That polyester sure is good fabric - it is as bright and vibrant for Ellie as it was for Amy.

Ellie's New Nook (and I don't mean an eReader)

While I was judging at Festival, Greg had fun cleaning the house, playing with the girls, and rearranging furniture.  Who would have guessed that moving the Love Sac out of our bedroom would have been such a hit for Ellie?  Greg said she immediately started hauling toys into our room, and played behind and next to the chair for at least 2 hours.  At one point when Greg was checking on her, Ellie told him, "Shhh.  My baby sleeping."

Aunt Jonette

The Helena Spencers were in town overnight, en route to Cancun, Mexico (I am sure they will not get shot!).  We were able to spend a couple of hours with them, and look forward to seeing them next weekend when they are back, all tanned and rested and happy.

Drinking salsa at Cafe Rio

The girls and I enjoyed Cafe Rio for lunch today.  For the first time ever, I ordered a kid quesadilla.  That felt like a rite of passage or something.

Ellie was not interested in it, but she ate tons of chips and salsa.  She loves to dip!  She liked the pico de gallo so much that she drank all of the juice out of it.  That is great vegetables!

P.S.  We are already successfully transitioned from the binkies. Less than 2 days of crying = easier than I thought it would be!

No More Binkies

We have really rocked Ellie's world the past day and a half.  We have debated when to take her binkies away for months.  She only had them in her bed, and was so good about throwing them back in if she was holding one when you got her out.  And Greg didn't think the transition would be that hard because she mostly chewed on them.  Chewed on them so much that she bit the tops off!  It was awesome that they were "broken", and Ellie had fun throwing them away, and we hoped that would be that.

Can I say, pipe dream?

The last 4 times she has gone to bed, she has cried.  And cried.  And cried.  It is much different going to sleep without the comfort of your binkie!  We are seeing improvement, though.  She cried for 40 minutes at 5 a.m., and then 30 minutes for her nap, and then 30 minutes for bed that night.  Hopefully she will cry less and less as she gets used to this...

Happy St Patrick's Day!

I had the girls dressed this morning before I remembered it was St Patrick's Day.  Easy enough fix, since they had a little green in their outfits.  I just switched their socks for their special shamrock socks.  Ellie thinks the "leaves" are pretty cool!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Ellie likes to tell Grandma happy birthday!

New church dress

I got this dress last summer, because it says it is an 18 month size.  It is obviously mismarked, because Ellie barely fits it now!  That's all good, though, because it was a bargain at $11.99 from Ross.

Bumbo

Ellie was a little concerned that I was going to put her sister in HER Bumbo today.  But since she is a sweet girl, she was willing to share; as long as I acknowledged that it was Ellie's chair.  Lynlee holds her head up so well, she is really strong!  While Lynlee and I were exploring the Bumbo, Ellie grabbed the remote control and was having a grand old time pushing all of the buttons.  She even got the input changed from the Wii (with streaming Netflix and her favorite Barney episodes) to the satellite.

Watching boys basketball

The girls and I took a field trip to Weber State University to hang out with Dad, Aunt Tammy, Uncle Paul, Dallin, and Leesa & Abby.  We watched Paul and Kelly ref the boys basketball state semi-finals and had a great time hanging out.

Lynlee took a good nap on my lap (as long as her ears were covered she was totally fine).  Ellie loved taking walks with Daddy.  We were on our own row of seats at one point, and Ellie was walking up and down.  She would get to the end of the row and look back and us and laugh, and then play with the seats and wander some more.

It only took us an hour each way, and Ellie had fun in the car.  As a treat, I put in the DVD player and let her watch a Barney episode.  Super fun!

Preparedness

Because of the picture I posted back in October about helping my mom with a class she was doing on 72-hour kits, I got asked to do a class for my ward.  It was fun, because all of the ladies are so fun!  Lots of good ideas were shared.  If anyone wants a copy of my handouts, email me or leave a comment with your email address.

Some of my favorite people

Saturday is Festival for the 3 younger girls, so at group lesson we had a master class, where everyone took turns being a judge and giving feedback on the performances.  The older 3 don't have Festival for 3.5 more weeks, so their songs aren't memorized yet, so the judges needed to sit close enough to see the music.

I love these kids!  We have so much fun together.  Ellie and Lynlee love to play at Aunt Jo's house while I teach.  Jo said that Lynlee noticed, for the first time, that mom wasn't with her.  She is almost 4 months old, and that is when Ellie started having "stranger anxiety" as well.  Our pediatrician says that smart babies notice "strangers" early.  These girls are so smart, thanks to their birth moms!

At the library

Davis has been sick this week, so the girls and I have been entertaining ourselves.  I decided it was time to try story time at the library again, and we got there all excited.  Nothing was happening, so I checked the bulletin board.  There was a poster saying that the winter session of story time ended February 28 and spring session starts March 14.

Well, now we know.
