New Bathroom Accessories

I have been eying this bathroom set at Kohl's for a while now, and when I saw it on sale Saturday (plus I had a coupon), I could not resist anymore.  Ellie's special animal is a turtle, and Lynlee's is a dolphin.  We also love the octopus and crab.  Ellie spent 10 minutes identifying all of her favorite animals, and was sad when it was time to leave the bathroom.

Oops

This morning we went to Thanksgiving Point with Elizabeth and Davis.  Elizabeth got herself packed up faster than I did, and hopped in her car to go home.  I heard a crunch, and made her stop.  She had run over her own sunglasses.  Ooops!

4 p.m.

In the 4:00 hour today we were playing with Davis, but I forgot to take a picture.  Ellie was a little melancholy from her shots, though.  When she first woke up from her 3 hour nap, she would not put any weight on her legs.  I got her dancing pretty soon, though (her favorite activity!).   When Elizabeth and Davis came over, Ellie kind of ignored them for a while.  After a snack of Froot Loops and yogurt raisins, she was more perky and interested in playing.

Once they left, however, we were in tired mode.  Ellie wanted both of her lambs and both of her blankets out of her bed.  She carried them all over, and flopped down on them repeatedly.

2 p.m.

Today was Ellie's first official day in Nursery, and she did great!  She should have gone 2 weeks ago, but both girls were sick, and last week was Stake Conference.  I had a harder time with it than she did...

Our whole family trouped in to make the drop-off.  True to Ellie's personality, she surveyed the room for a couple of minutes, walked around a little, and then picked a toy and dove right in.  The Primary was really nice to us and put Ellie in the same nursery as Davis, so that made for a really easy transition.
In less than 5 minutes, Greg was dragging me out of the door.  I wanted to stay and play, but Greg has a good point that Ellie needs to know that Nursery is her class and I will not be there with her, since she was fine and happy.  After 10 minutes in Sunday School, I was ready to go back and check on her, but Elizabeth had the happy idea for me to check on her using technology.  So I texted Russ (who was in there) and he sent me some pictures of a happy girl, and a video!  I am completely anti-texting in church, but this was definitely extenuating circumstances.

Ellie was totally happy the whole time, until it was time to get picked up.  Davis got picked up a couple of minutes before she did, and then she cried until Greg got there (I was teaching Relief Society today, so Greg beat me there).  All in all, a successful experience - and I hope it is this easy every week!

1 p.m.

Today at 1, Ellie was napping so Lynlee and I had a little lunch and watched Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed from our Netflix queue.  It was an interesting and thought-provoking documentary on the conflict between Darwinism and Intelligent Design.

12 p.m.

Shhh, it's naptime!

Lynlee has developed a little bit of a flat spot on her head, so we are trying to prop her while she sleeps to even it out.  Our pediatrician said it is nothing to worry about yet, but we obviously don't want it to get any worse.

11 a.m.

Today at 11 a.m., Kelly and I were working on scheduling for the Elementary Solo Festival, and Ellie and Sam were playing together.  It took Sam a little while to warm up, but after a snack of bunny crackers and frosted animal crackers, he was good to go.  Lynlee (shockingly) was taking a nap.

10 a.m.

This morning at 10 a.m., the girls and I were in the car running errands.  We went to Orem to pick up the papers I need to schedule the Elementary Solo Festival, and then to Walmart to get some props for Greg, and then to Partyland.  For YM/YW tonight they are having a lip synch contest, and the Bishopric is doing "Surfin' USA."

9 a.m.

This morning at 9 a.m., Lynlee was getting cleaned up in the shower, and Ellie was jabbering away, using Greg's alarm clock as a phone.  When I asked her who she was talking to, she said, "Dad.  No, Paul."

Drinking from a straw

Greg had a game on Valentine's Day evening, so we celebrated by going to lunch at Texas Roadhouse. This is the first time that Ellie has drunk from a "real" straw (and not from her straw-sippie cups).

Loves

As Ellie was giving Davis loves, Daddy was saying, "STOP THAT!"  He doesn't seem to accept the fact that Ellie and Davis are betrothed, so PDAs are appropriate and super cute.

More birthday celebrations

Teri has a January birthday, I am February, and Bobi is March, so we celebrated with pedicures and lunch at Cafe Rio. Thanks, Mom!

Library Gala

This morning the girls and I have been visiting sign and printing companies working on getting tickets and posters printed for this year's Library Gala.  Tickets go on sale next Tuesday, February 15 at the library.  Come and support a great cause - and get a catered dinner AND a concert.

Aftermath

Well. Ellie had her first temper tantrum tonight.

It started over practically nothing.  We have an answering machine with our phones that we don't use (because we have voice mail) and Ellie likes to push the buttons and make them beep.  I have no problem with that - it totally makes her giggle!  Ellie was pushing buttons and then started to push the whole unit off the table.  She stopped and looked at me, so I said "no no, please don't push that."  And then she pushed it off.  So I picked her up and asked her to say sorry.

As a side note, this happens often - Ellie tests something after I say no, and then she says sorry and I give her a kiss and we move on.  No big deal.

This afternoon, it turned into a big deal.  After I asked her to say sorry, Ellie said "NO!" with her mouth and her hand.  So I asked her again.  And she said "NO!" again.  After 4 times, I said we could just sit on the bed together until she was ready to say sorry.  And Ellie burst into tears.

Then we started a cycle of crying for a couple of minutes, and then me asking her to say sorry and her telling me no.  I thought, surely she wouldn't cry more than 5 minutes.  And surely not more than 10 minutes.  After 15 minutes, I put Ellie in her bed for a minute so I could get Lynlee (who had woken up from her nap early because of the racket).  And then we all sat on my bed again.  After 27 minutes, Lynlee fell asleep again.

This went on for 73 minutes.  Yep, one hour and 13 minutes.  Can you say stubborn?

For the last 20 minutes or so, I had to keep on shifting Ellie so she wouldn't fall asleep sitting in my lap.  Finally, Ellie half-heartedly kind of swiped one finger across her chest, and I instantly praised and thanked and got up off of the bed.   We picked up the answering machine together and gave kisses and all is right with the world again.

New hang out spot?

Today, I never got Ellie dressed.  Us girls are sick, and Greg is in Grand Junction for the night doing basketball.  Between wiping noses and forcing Ellie to take medicine and Lynlee throwing up twice, I just never got around to it.  Ellie went from these pajamas into the bath and into new pajamas.  Lynlee, lucky girl, got to wear 3 outfits and her pajamas.

So big

Lynlee is getting bigger every day, and is growing out of her 0-3 month clothes.  Her one piece outfits are all getting snug (as evidenced by this fleecy outfit - had to unsnap one snap to make it work), but she is still fine in her two piece outfits.
