Grandpa & Ellie

This outfit was a present from Tayler. After getting Ellie dressed this morning, Greg said that this is officially his favorite color for Ellie to wear!

Shopping at Ikea

Elizabeth, Davis, and Amy joined E & I for an Ikea adventure this morning. Lots of excellent bargains were found, which always makes for a fun trip.

Wacky Wednesday

Ellie and I just got back from our first ever Wacky Wednesday.  We went with Hollie, Julie C, and Laurie S downtown to Pioneer Party where the bigger kids got their faces painted, and then we went to the Hutchings Museum and walked around a little.  At this point, Ellie had had enough, so we left, and the rest stayed to watch a live reptile show.  E did really good with all of the people inside the store, just watching and playing with her free balloon that I tied to her stroller.  She even left her hat on pretty much the whole time.  Ellie loved playing with Jordan and Annie and Copper.  And we ran into Kaisa - a total blast from the past!  Kaisa did not know that we have Ellie, so it was fun to show her off, and to reminisce about Greg feeding her kids gummy bears in church every single Sunday.  A great morning!

Playing with Davis

We just spent a wonderful morning playing with Elizabeth and Davis, until Ellie decided that she was hungry and wanted a nap.  Ellie can learn so many things from Davis, like how to crawl faster, and how to stand, and how to eat real food.  (Ellie had a cute clip in, and Davis liked taking it out.  After a couple of tries, we just left it out - which is great, because Ellie looks so cute with her mohawk!)

Beautiful Ellie

I love this picture for so many reasons:
1.  Ellie's hair is so crazy after her clip is taken out
2.  E is wearing another cute turtle onesie
3.  This is one of Ellie's favorite positions to sit in (the hurdler position, we like to call it)
4.  Ellie is shaking her (current) favorite toy - stackable buckets
5.  She just looks so dang cute!

Father's Day

Today was Greg's first Father's Day.  We had some challenges trying to make it special, but hopefully he felt the love!  We celebrated last night, going out to dinner and opening his presents.  Since we got a gun safe for Christmas, I decided it was time to start filling it.  I got him a .22 (and hopefully it is a good one, since I know absolutely nothing about guns) and a picture frame that says "World's Greatest Dad."

This morning, Greg was able to come home for about an hour (one of his meetings got canceled), and he walked in just in time for breakfast.  Aunt Sharon, Uncle Bob, Ellie, and I had fun talking with him.  After church, Greg had just enough time to pack and eat some lunch before Paul picked him up for their flight to Denver.

Greg is the most amazing father!  He is so natural and genuine, and he and Ellie have an amazing bond.  I thought my love for Greg was complete, but the first time he held Ellie, I knew that my love for him would never stop growing.

We love company

We love having people come and visit us!  Aunt Sharon and Uncle Bob have a wedding to go to tomorrow, so they are staying with us for the weekend.  And Jeff came down to golf with Greg and Lumpy before he picks up his kids at the airport tomorrow.  We had a good dinner at Sizzler (Aunt Sharon's suggestion) and then came back to our house for games.  Jeff & Greg MUCH preferred Mexican Train Dominoes to Five Crowns (which feels like a variation of Phase 10).  Jeff said his own personal hell would be playing Phase 10 for eternity - and Greg concurred.

Jumping

On a stroll with Greg and Ellie, and we stopped in to see new baby Eden. Kamri and Porter entertained Ellie really well! (And don't worry - I had my hands on E the whole time.)

The intrepid camper

Last night was the fathers & sons campout for our ward. Greg said it was nice, even though they stood around in the rain all night!

Mom and Lyssa's Recital

What an impressive group of young violinists. Ellie danced the whole time.

Butterfly Bum

This is my new favorite outfit - because of the giant butterfly on Ellie's bum!  I believe this was a present from Joanna, and I am forever grateful.

Weeders

On Saturday evening, after wrestling with yard work for a few hours, we were both overwhelmed by how many weeds were in our backyard.  Just as Greg was walking in to the front to get something from a garage, two lifesavers (as Greg termed it) showed up with a lovely flyer stating:

Got Weeds?
Not Anymore!
Annie and Savannah now get rid of weeds and perform other garden services.

Greg hired them on the spot.  Today they spent 2 hours working on our backyard (before it got too hot).  They accomplished a lot in the time, and it already looks so much better!  They are coming back to finish the job later, and I consider it a bargain at $5 an hour each.

Door Stop

Ellie has discovered the door stop by the front door.  It makes a really cool noise when you flick it!

Not Shown: Pigtail

Renee convinced me that Ellie's hair is long enough for a pigtail now (and she was totally right).  I tried to get some pictures showing the cute curl it makes on top (thanks to the great gel that Ilene gave me).  The best picture doesn't show the pigtail, but I had to post it anyway.

Beth & Gabe's Sealing

This morning was very special.  I was able to go to the Bountiful temple and be with Beth and Gabe as they were sealed, and as their boys were sealed to them.  Having been at the temple so recently with Ellie, it was wonderful to feel of that Spirit and remember our experience.  When Jay and Beck were brought in, they were so good.  They just went right to their mom and dad and looked around, and were quiet through the whole process.  Quite a difference from Ellie!

I am so happy for Beth and her family.  What a day to cherish - and such handsome boys!

Darci and Tatum

Ellie and I dropped by this morning to see Darci's new baby.  Tatum Mae is gorgeous!  Brooklyn told me that she loves her baby sister and that "her cries a lot and her is always hungry."  Cache just giggled when I asked him if he loved his baby sister.  It was a short visit, because they were headed out the door to Ty's first golf lesson.

Darci looks fabulous and totally competent.  I want to be as calm and happy and as beautiful as her if I ever get to have 4 children.

More

At lunch today, Ellie ate all of her Cheerios.  I asked her if she wanted more, and she signed "more" back to me.  That is the first time she has signed more when it meant she actually wanted "more" of something (and not as a response to the song).  Go Ellie!

Of course, when I tried to get her to do the sign again so I could take a picture, Ellie would not be a performing monkey for me.  Ah, well.  She is an adorable non-performing-monkey!
