Cece is particular about her hair, and some days will flat out refuse having it done. I can't blame her -- it is quite the process with lots of products and some pain in the combing. This morning she asked Lynlee to do her hair, and it was a sweet moment.

We got to go meet Lynlee's birth mom for dinner as she and her family came through town on their way to a wedding in Las Vegas. It was epic! Lynlee had packed her special purple lip gloss for the occasion. Without anyone noticing, Cece found it and pretty much used up the whole tube on the way home. Even after a bath, and crying-causing-scrubbing, her face was stained purple...

We have full afternoons after school, and I am the "mean mom" who only lets the girls play with friends on Friday and Saturday. By the time they have a snack, do their homework & reading, and practice violin & piano, we are racing to a class or to get dinner going. But sometimes we just roll with it. Anna and Eli knocked on the door and wanted to play, right after school. Their parents were travelling and they were needing a distraction, so we said "come on in" and the kids all played happily for a few hours.
And we never did practice that day...

Cece doesn't go to school on Mondays, so in my head it should be our day to relax and recover from the weekend. But, no. It is a chance to jump in to a new week with both feet! We meet with our deaf mentor in the morning, then we drive kindergarten carpool, then squeeze in any doctor's appointments (like a trip to see the audiologist on this day), then go to Orem and have a therapy appointment with Cece's teacher (Lynlee hates this but comes with us anyway), and then get back just in time to pick up Ellie from school. Then it is straight to Lynlee's dance class (where they had fun trying on potential costumes for the recital in May -- this one was Lynlee's favorite but it was ultimately not chosen) and then home for dinner and FHE. Whew!
And, Cece loves to write on the dry erase boards. She likes to practice writing her name.

While I was waiting for the yarn for the hair, I got about half of Cece's doll done. It came together quickly after Ellie's doll was done. Designing the cochlear implants was ... exciting. I pulled it out about 5 times before I was happy with it.

Cece's "bus" is really a van. This Wednesday morning I put her on the bus and took the big girls to school. Then I had some errands to run, including dropping things off at the D.I. I pulled out of the parking lot to head south, and pulled right in behind Cece's bus! I followed it on to the high way until it pulled off at the 1600 N exit. (And you can't tell because the lights are blocked, but the light was red and it was safe to take this picture!)

After finishing Ontrea, it was Ellie's turn for an amigurumi. She decided she wanted a baby doll, and she picked out the colors for the dress. Having learned my lesson with the sock monkey about having the recommended yarn for a pattern, I ordered this specialty yarn for the hair. I actually got the doll done and had Cece's doll halfway done before the yarn arrived. The fun thing about the hair is that the yarn is really crinkly, and I used the underside for the hair. It had more loops and looked better. Ellie wanted a mouth, so I did my best to free hand that (it wasn't in the pattern). And, we had to make glasses!

The girls are going to be filmed for a new Baby Signing Time video, and we couldn't be more excited! It has been more difficult than expected to find outfits for the girls to wear. Here are the guidelines: absolutely no green, try to have no red, white, or black, new/like new condition, spring colors, at least 2 options. It was a good excuse to go shopping for new clothes. I wanted the outfits to coordinate but not match, in the hopes that the girls would be on screen together. We found one set of clothes at Osh Kosh and another set at Gymboree. That made the colors coordinate, and I was happy with how it turned out. I laid them all out after church (we bought them yesterday) and Lynlee had to model her favorite outfit.

Kyle and Jonette made a flying trip to Utah, and we got to see them for a little while. Uncle Kyle brought the girls the nicest gift: his violin that he played when he was a little boy. He had it restrung, and bought a new bow and case for it. It is a 3/4 size, so when Ellie gets bigger (maybe around 4th or 5th grade), it will be perfect for her to play.

Ellie has been begging all season to go to one of Greg's games by herself, and the time finally came. Greg and Tammy were reffing in the Junior College tournament in Twin Falls, so they took Ellie along. She stayed with Greg during Tammy's game, and stayed with Tammy during Greg's game. It was a long day, but she had fun!

Ellie stayed home from school today, and made this awesome owl out of Perler beads. I love all of the skills that come with this activity: the spatial awareness of following the pattern, the fine motor skills from grabbing and placing the beads, the concentration and tenacity to complete a large project.

Lynlee's current favorite show is called "Mia and Me" and it has fairies, butterfly rings, and unicorns. She requested I make her a unicorn, and she picked out the yarn to match her mermaid tail blanket. She named it Ontrea. It was a fun project, and the mane and tail took as much time as the rest of it all together, I think. This was a labor of love because of all of the sewing required. I enjoy crocheting, and don't really enjoy the hand sewing for assembly. But the finished products are always worth it.

At the Book Fair, I let each girl pick out one item, and I strongly encourage them to get an actual book. Lynlee vacillated between a puppy poster and a puppy book, but the book won. Imagine her delight when she got a mystery prize at her Library specialty class today, and Mr Wright let her pick the exact poster she had been wanting.

We've all had a rough adjustment to my calling as Primary pianist. In theory, it sounds like the perfect calling -- I love serving in Primary, and playing the songs is therapeutic and easy. In actuality, it has been tough. Lynlee is a tenuous Primary attender (at best), and having me in the room has made it even more difficult. Cece will not go to Nursery, but I'm fine with that. She actually does great, just hanging out and playing behind the piano. Lynlee is the one that has had screaming/crying fits on multiple Sundays... Ellie tries desperately to help, which proves distracting to her class. Maybe, eventually, we will get this all worked out and I will cry less over the craziness and the missed cues (from dealing with crying children) and the embarrassment...
